Cylinder, especially for musical movement. The present invention relates to a cylinder, in particular for a musical movement, consisting of disks. whose periphery is provided with teeth whose position and number are determined by the role that said discs must play, and by washers interposed between the discs, washers and discs being assembled on a shaft so as to form a compact package.
This cylinder is characterized by the fact that said package is limited to each of its ends by at least one cheek, the cylinder drive members mounted on said shaft being pressed against one of these cheeks, the washers interposed between them. discs being made of a material resistant to compression, at least one rectilinear element distinct from the shaft and parallel to the latter passing from end to end the assembly formed of said pack and cheeks, the profile of the teeth being at least partly ogival, means being provided, at at least one point along the length of said shaft, for driving said assembly by said shaft.
The drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the cylinder forming the subject of the invention, as well as certain details of variants.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a disc provided with peripheral teeth and FIG. 2 is a sectional view along II-II of FIG. 1; fig. 3 is a plan view of an intermediate washer and FIG. 4 is a sectional view along IV-IV of FIG. 3. Figs. 5 and 6 show the profile of two variants of ogival teeth (fig. 5) and partly ogival (fig. 6).
Fig. 7 is a side view of said embodiment of the cylinder. Fig. 8 is an axial section of the cylinder of FIG. 7 and shows detail variants.
1 denotes a metal disc provided, at its periphery, with teeth 2. This disc is drilled in its center with a circular hole 3, and eccentrically with a circular hole M. 6 denotes a washer made of a material resistant to compression, pierced in its center with a circular hole 7, and eccentrically with a circular hole 26.
As can also be seen in fig. 1, the central hole of the disc 1 could have, in a variant, a square shape 4; in another variant, the hole could be circular on a part of the periphery, the rest of the round being constituted by a rectilinear part 5. Likewise, as regards the washer 6, the central hole could have a shape because reed 8, or partially circular, and present a rectilinear part 9. The teeth 2 of the disc 1 may have an ogival profile 10, as seen in FIG. 5, or an ogival profile 11, as shown in FIG. 6, the end of the tooth being flattened.
The cylinder 12 shown in FIG. 7 and 8 consists of discs 14 similar to the disc of FIGS. 1 and 2 and by washers 15 similar to that of FIGS. 3 and 4, inserted between the discs 14, discs and washers being assembled on a shaft 13 of which 13 'and W are the journals, this shaft 13 passing through the central holes of the discs and washers, which form a compact package limited at one of its ends by a cheek 16 and at the other end by two cheeks 17 and 18.
Teeth wheels 19 and 20, serving to drive the cylinder, are mounted on the shaft 13, and bear against the cheek 18.
25 denotes a cylindrical rod parallel to the shaft 13 and passing through the discs 14, the washers 15 and the cheeks 16, 17 and 18, passing through them. circular holes 26 made in the discs and washers.
As seen in fia. 8, when the shaft 13 is of circular section, thus due represented at 27, it has a rod part 2j8 on which an intermediate washer 15, the end cheeks 17 and 18 and the cogs 19 and 20 are forced. The discs 14, the other washers 15 and the cheek 16 are slid on the shaft 13. The latter can affect the square shape 28 'or the circular part shape flattened part 29, the central hole of the : discs and washers then being of square shape, respec tively of partially circular and partially rectilinear shape, as was said above when describing FIGS. 1 to 4.
30 designates a spider formed on the end of the shaft 13 opposite the cogs, and the rim of which is forced against the wall of the hole in the cheek 16 by means of a punch, both for the purpose of clamping the discs and the washers in a compact package that to serve for driving by the shaft 13 of the assembly formed by said package and by the cheeks.
