Description

Bearing for the barrel shaft of a watch. In the refurbishment of watches, it has been necessary, until now, to unscrew the barrel bridge if we wanted to extract the barrel, for example to replace a broken spring. On this occasion, the entire mechanism carried by this bridge also had to be dismantled. This was a waste of time and serious expense, especially when re-dressing watches with a central seconds hand and an additional transmission wheel.

This drawback is eliminated by the bearing of the barrel shaft according to the invention, a bearing characterized in that it comprises a bearing secured to an elastic support holding said bearing to the bottom of a notch of the barrel bridge allowing the passage of the barrel axis and the extraction of this barrel.

The drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the subject of the invention.

Fig.1 is a top view with the barrel ratchet and its screw removed, and Fig.2 is a section taken along line II-II of Fig.1.

The shaft 1 of the barrel 2 rotates in a bearing 3 of the plate 4 of the watch movement and in a bearing 5. The latter is a ring driven into a leaf spring 6 forming an elastic support. The leaf spring has an initial tension such that, placed on the bottom of a recess 7 in the bay bridge 8, the leaf is slightly bent upwards in its. middle part. However, a bridge screw 9 rests it full length on the bottom of recess 7.

A slight lateral play of the blade 6 is provided in its recess. The centering of the bearing 5 and of the barrel shaft 1 is ensured by its engagement in a bore 10 of the bridge 8. A recess 11 is provided in the plate 4 and the bridge 8. The distance between its lateral sides 12 is slightly greater than the maximum diameter of the barrel. The bay bridge has a notch whose bottom is formed by the bore 10 and whose sides 14 have a spacing which slightly exceeds the maximum diameter of the barrel shaft.

The height of the notch 11 is such that there is a clearance 15 between the barrel and the bridge slightly greater than the length of the end of the rotating shaft in the bearing 3.

In the assembled state of the movement, the bearing described maintains the barrel shaft by holding it in the bearing 3 of the plate and its own bearing 5.

To extract the barrel, we remove the ratchet screw 16, the ratchet 17 and we loosen the bridge screw 9. Now, we can raise and extract the barrel with its shaft without having to assemble its bridge and all the mechanism carried by the latter, passing it through notch 11. Assembly is just as simple and is done in reverse order.
