Control device for cable brake of cycles or other vehicles The present invention relates to a control device for cable brake of cycles or other vehicles, comprising a handle articulated on a base intended to be fixed to a handlebar tube which is characterized in that the base is material, plastic and has at its base a cavity housing part of a metal fastening collar intended to encircle the handlebar tube, means of traction housed inside inside of the base making it possible to pull this part of the collar in, said cavity, to ensure tightening of the collar on the handlebar.
The appended drawing represents, by by way of example, an embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention, and a variant.
Fig. 1 is a front view of the device mounted on the cycle handlebar tube.
Fig. 2 is an axial longitudinal section of the device.
Fig. 3 is a section taken along line a-b in fig. 2.
Fig. 4 -is a section similar to that of FIG. 2, but following a different longitudinal plane over part of the figure.
The fi # g. 5 is a section taken along * line c-d of fig. 4.
Fig. 6 is a view of a variant.
The device shown comprises a base 1, of molded plastic material, having a body II of flat straight section and a conical nose 12.
The body 11 presents at its base a cavity 13, in the form of hollow truncated pyramid, serving to accommodate part of a metal fixing collar, 4. On its bearing face, the base forms a seat 14 which fits closely to the rounded surface of a tube de gui don g (fig. 3). The collar 4 is formed of a metal band by circling the tube of < / B> handlebar g and engaging by its end parts 41 in the cavity 13. These end parts are curved in the form of circular sectors to form two overlapping cradles.
An axial hole 15 drilled in the base - allows the passage of the shank of a screw 5 including a head 51 in the form of T is supported under the cradles 41. The rod of the screw 5 opens into a recess of the base em and carries a locking nut 6.
By screwing the nut 6, pulls the of fixing collar 4 towards the base, which fixes the device on the </ B> handlebar tube.
An all-metal 3 brake lever has parallel tabs 31 engaged at their ends in parallel slots 17 of the base 1. A metal axis, 7 passing through from right through said base constitutes a pivot axis for the handle.
Lateral parts 16 of the base, located on the outer sides. 17 slots constitute flasks extending down the sides of the basic of handle. The handle 3 is thus perfectly guided laterally in the base 1, as a result of the engagement of the tabs 31 in the slots 17 and the presence of the 16. flanges
The nose 12 is axially drilled with a threaded hole into which is screwed an adjustment screw 2 made of plastic. This screw 2 has a thread of, several threads, of square section, and is screwed directly into the tapped hole of the nose 12. It comprises a cylindrical head 21 with longitudinal grooves facilitate its manual grip.
The screw 2 has an axial hole 22 allowing the passage of a brake C cable, which is hooked, at its end, on an axis < B> 8 of the brake handle 3. A its outer end, the screw 2 has a chamber 23 serving to center the sheath G of the cable C. This screw allows by its thread to not rapid a tension or a relaxation very fast, C, cable by simple screwing or unscrewing. Hole 22 ends inside with a flared part 24 # to prevent the cable C from rubbing against the edge of the hole and therefore unraveling.
In the variant shown in in fig. 6, the adjustment screw 2 carries a lock nut 9 cooperating with the threaded rod of the screw. This nut 9 comes to rest against the end of the nose 12.
The nut 9 has ridges on the periphery, making it easy to move it by by hand, in order to block it and block the screw 2, or to cooperate with the release and the adjustment of the screw and the tension of the cable C.
The nut 9 is metallic, preferably light metal. A favorable combination effect is thus obtained between the metal nut on the one hand, and the plastic parts with which said nut comes into friction contact and bearing for the blocking cage, i.e. the base 1 and screw 2.
The device shown constitutes a carefully studied mixed set of plastic parts and metal parts. It has the following advantages in particular : 1) The base 1, in plastic material, is easy to to manufacture. A on the outside, it has properly connected surfaces and the protruding parts of the associated metal parts (screws 5, tabs 31, etc.) are housed in rerabase recesses, and therefore hidden. Note that the cavity 13 of the base in which the free part of the collar 4 is housed is closed over its entire periphery.
2) The 3, metal handle can be made from thin sheet metal. Its 31 legs are guided laterally by the side walls of the slots 17 in the base. This reduces the risk of deformation of the base part of the handle, highly stressed. The metal / plastic contact of the 31 legs and of the base contributes to reducing the resistance due to friction.
3) The plastic / plastic material contact, easily causing friction, which is made between the adjustment screw 2 and the base 1, prevents maladjustment, while the metal / plastic contact made between the cable and the screw 2 reduces the friction between these moving parts Pune with respect to the other.
4) Fixing of the base on the handlebar by means of the thin metal collar 4 makes it possible to give to the base a regular thickness, approximately equal to the diameter of the tube handlebars.
5) 12 base in estune plastic material, soft part free of metallic prisoners, and therefore cheaper.
6) The risks of corrosion are reduced, maintenance and assembly are very easy, and lubrication can be eliminated.
