Description

Safety closure device for a split ring, in particular a rock-climbing carabiner. The present invention relates to a safety closure device for a split ring, in particular a rock climbing carabiner, having two straight sections, threaded, and contiguous in the closed state, one of these sections being articulated to the body of the ring so as to be able to rotate only in one plane, while the other section is fixed, this device comprising a nut screwed onto said sections and being characterized by the fact that the contiguous faces of said sections are located in a plane oblique to the common axis of these sections,

that the nut is longer than its internal thread and as long as the joined threaded portions of the two sections.

The drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention, applied to a loop known as a rock-climbing carabiner.

1 designates the curvilinear part of the queton musket, terminated by rectilinear sections 2 and 3 each having a thread 4, respectively 5 in the same direction. The section 2 is articulated to the part 2 'by means of a pin 6 perpendicular to the plane of the figure so as to be able to be deflected downwards in the figure against an antagonist spring 7. 8 is a nut which can be provided on its periphery, either with a thumbwheel, or with not shown grip facets.

The end faces of sections 2 and 3 are contiguous, along a plane 9 inclined on the common axis of these parts, so that the end face of section 3 faces in the direction of the deflection dq section 2.

The nut 8, of the same length as the threaded parts 4 and 5 together, carries inside ment, over half of its length and on the side of the section 3, an internal thread 10; the remaining unthreaded inner half of nut 8 has a diameter allowing it to slide on section 2.

When, by fully screwing the nut 8 onto the threaded portions of sections 2 and 3, the end faces are kept contiguous, the nut 8 covers all of the threads and 5 together, which prevents = 1a ice and dust settling elsewhere than at the ends of said nut or can easily be removed. The unscrewed nut comes in 8 ', which allows the carabiner to be opened by rotating 2 around 6.

The arrows -11 and 12 indicate the directions in which the carabiner is strained. The configuration of the end aces of the sections obviously contributes to the safety of the locking of the carabiner.
