Valve for control device of the passage of a fluid. The present invention relates to a valve for a device for controlling the pitch of a fluid, of the type comprising a bell in which an annular seal is housed and which is characterized in that it comprises a central member which, when by fixing it to the bell, expands the seal previously placed inside it.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of examples, six embodiments of the valve according to. invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view of the first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is an axial sectional view of this same embodiment during assembly. Fig. 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 each represent the view in axial section of one of the five other embodiments.
The valve according to fig. 1 and 2 comprises a bell 1, the inner surface 2 of which is cylindrical, and inside which there is an annular seal 3 made of elastic material, for example rubber, which is retained inside. this bell thanks to a central member 4, fixed in the bottom of the bell by a thread 5 that it presents. As seen in fig. 2, in the free state, the seal 3 has the shape of a ring, the inner and outer side surfaces of which are both cylindrical surfaces.
The height of this seal, in the free state, as can also be seen in FIG. 2, is equal to the depth of the bell.
The central member 4 has, at its end opposite the thread 5, a head 6 comprising a slot 7 for actuation by means of a screwdriver. Between parts 5 and 6, this member has a truncated portion 8, of length equal to the thickness of the ring 3. The size .de this 1-tapered part 8 is such that, when fixing this member on the bell, this conical portion 8 causes the expansion of the seal previously placed in this bell, as seen in FIG. 1. It results from the compression of the material of the gasket that the visible surface of the latter presents a slight convexity, as indicated in 9.
Due to this compression also, it is ensured that the seal is perfectly applied on all sides against its seat and completely fills the bell, thus preventing any infiltration between it and this bell. This convexity and this perfect cooperation of the seal with the bell are favorable to the good sealing of the valve and to its operational safety.
The head 6 constitutes a projection provided with an annular surface 10 which retains the seal against the bottom of the bell, as seen in FIG. 1, and this independently and in addition to the action. of the cone. The small base of the frustoconical part 8 has a diameter slightly greater than that of the thread 5, so that there is, at the end of this conical part, an annular surface 11, which cooperates with the bottom of the bell. to form a stop when part 5 of member 4 is fully screwed. This member 4 can thus be blocked on the bell.
It will also be noted that, in the construction described, the introduction of the seal into the bell takes place without the formation of an air cushion between this seal and this bell, contrary to what occurs in certain known constructions, which is a significant advantage.
In the embodiment according to fig. 3, the interior of the bell 1 has, in its lateral part, three enlargements formed by annular grooves 12, in which the material of the seal penetrates during the expansion of the latter. These grooves constitute means for retaining the seal in the bell. In addition, the central member 4 here has an internal thread which is screwed onto a threaded central rod 13, projecting into the bottom of the bell.
It is the end of this member 4 which, by abutting against the bottom of the bell when this member is fully screwed in, forms the stop formed by part 11 in the previous embodiment.
As seen in fig. 3, the member 4 has, in its part cooperating with the seal 3, a conical shape indicated at 14 and, in its visible part, a hemispherical shape 15, having a slot 7 playing the same role as that designated by the same number in the case of fig. 1 and 2.
In the case of fig. 4, there is also provided, inside the bell 1, annular grooves 12. The member 4 here has a shape slightly different from that following fig. 3, in the sense that the part cooperating with the seal to cause its expansion does indeed have a shape of revolution of cross section going in crescent, from the bottom to the edge of the bell, but this part, - designated by 16, is not conical, it is curved.
In the case of fig. 5, the member 4 is of the same shape as in the case of FIG. 3, but the retention in place of the seal 3 in the bell 1 is ensured by the fact that the inner side surface 17 of the bell, instead of being cylindrical, widens from the free edge to the bottom of this member. The internal diameter at the inlet of the bell is sufficient to allow the passage of the seal in the free state. Once the seal has been expanded due to the installation of the member 4, this seal completely fills the interior of the bell.
In the case of fig. 6, the member 4 has a shape substantially the same as for FIGS. 3 and 5, but the bell 1 has, at its free edge, a flange 18 directed inward and cooperating with the edge of the free surface 9 of the seal 3, to hold the latter in place after expansion under the action of the member 4. Of course, the internal diameter of this flange allows the free passage of the seal before expansion.
Finally, fig. 7 shows a construction in which the central member 4 has a rod 19 passing through the bottom of the bell 1 and the free end of which, in the form of an annular bevel 20, is crimped in an annular housing 21 of a member of 'actuation 22 against which this member 4 freezes the bell. The shape of the part of the member 4 cooperating with the seal 3 is also of revolution, of cross section going in crescent from the bottom to the edge of the bell, but this shape differs from that of a cone and from that according to fig. . 4, as seen in the drawing.
It is visible that the embodiments according to fig. 3 to 7 present the same advantages as those which have been indicated with regard to FIGS. 1 and 2. These different forms of valve execution are applicable, for example, to taps, pressure regulators, safety valves and all other similar devices for controlling the flow of a fluid.
