<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
On comprend aisément (fig.

"Tap" @ In all types of taps or valves, the fixing of the handwheel on the maneuvering rod and the stopping of the latter in the position corresponding to the maximum openings, are produced by the contact of a or several moving parts with one or more fixed parts. These parts or parts of parts (stops) 'can be-constituted by the same shape of the valve members or of the valve or by added elements, to allow' subsequent assembly and reassembly.
These stops require a relatively important work, machining and additional parts which hinder the simplicity of the valve or the winnowing weigh it down.

and greatly reduce faeïlitê and> E..a14é assembly and disassembly.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object of the present invention is to avoid these drawbacks. It firstly relates to a valve characterized because the rod is connected to the operating handwheel by a split elastic ring, which constitutes a removable stopper and transmits the movements in height of the valve. handwheel to the operating rod ,, this arrangement thus allowing simple machining and comprising the minimum number of components, which reduces the weight of the valve to a minimum and facilitates its assembly and disassembly,
The invention also relates to a valve characterized because the handwheel or the valve body carries a split elastic ring which constitutes a removable stopper, this arrangement preventing the handwheel from untimely disengaging from the head or the body, while allowing assembly. and easy valve machining.
The invention also relates to an embodiment of the preceding taps characterized because the elastic ring is mounted in a groove of one of the two elements (rod-steering wheel or steering wheel-head) and engages with a ramp. one of these elements, which facilitates assembly and subsequent disassembly.
The invention also relates to other features described below and their various combinations.
Valves according to the invention are shown by way of example in the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is an exterior half-sectional view of a first embodiment of the valve according to the invention.
Fig. 2 is the top view on a different scale of any of the elastic fixing rings.
Fig 3 is a schematic sectional view of a mounted elastic ring, this section showing the breakdown of the forces involved,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
FIG. 4 is a partial exterior view in half-section of a second embodiment of a valve according to the invention,
Fig. 5 is a sectional view showing various sections of elastic rings which can be used.
The valve shown in FIG, 1 is equipped with an operating rod simply animated by a translational movement along its axis and the cylindrical part 1 of which turns freely around the central bore of the operating wheel 2. At the top, a split elastic ring 3 is housed in a groove 4 of the maneuver rod.
The latter is terminated by an assembly chamfer
5. The central bore of the handwheel 2 ends in a bearing chamfer 6, The valve being closed, the inner surface of this chamfer is separated from the elastic ring 3 by an interval just necessary for disassembly. of, this one '. The sealing patch 7 is fixed by pressure in a housing of the handwheel. The thread 8 of the latter is mounted on a corresponding thread of the valve or valve body 9.
A second split elastic ring '10 is housed in a groove machined at the top of the interior 9, which is completed. also by a chamfer, assembly 11. 'Three dismounting grooves 12 open into the circular housing provided for the elastic ring 10,
The operating rod 1 carries at its base a collar 13, on which the valve disc 14 is fixed by the nut 15. The downward translational movement (shutter) is transmitted from the wheel 2 to the control rod. maneuver 1 by means of a washer 16, fixed on the conical bearing surface 17 of the operating rod. A fiber washer 18 ensures minimum friction and wear.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The tightness between the operating rod and the valve body 9 is obtained by means of a gasket 19. Finally, the two ends 20 of the valve are machined to allow the latter to be connected to a pipe, a pipe or any device.
One of the elastic rings used is shown frozen? It is obtained by bending a metal wire with a circular section, the two ends of this wire not being contiguous in the normal state and leaving between them, a certain gap 21,
The diameter of the wire constituting any one of the rings (fig. 2) must be adapted to the mean radius of curvature of the latter and to the elasticity which is required of it during assembly and disassembly. The interval 21 between the two ends can be zero if the ring works on extension (ring 3, fig. 1) or sufficient to allow it to take its minimum diameter, if it works on compression (ring 10, fig. 1).
Fig. 3 shows that the force 22 transmitted to any one of the elastic rings can be regarded as the sum of two others, the first 23 perpendicular to the bearing face, the second tangent to the latter.
It is easy to understand (fig. 3) that by varying the angle of inclination of the bearing face and the depth of the groove, it is perfectly possible to make the elastic ring absolutely unmountable under the effect of pressure it supports 22.
The operation is as follows (fig. 1). The elastic rings 3 and 10 being in place and the flywheel 2 rotating freely on the operating rod, any helical movement of the latter is transformed into a simple translational movement for the operating rod and is transmitted downwards by the actuator. existing washer 16
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
over the latter, upwards, via the elastic ring, 3,. wedged between the 'bottom of its' clock- '4, and the bearing face of the chamfer 6 existing on the flywheel'. At the maximum opening limit, the base of the thread 8 of the handwheel comes into contact with the elastic ring 10 which cannot escape from its housing and prevents any upward movement.
When mounting the elastic ring 3, the valve or tap is placed in. closed position. In it, the chamfer 6 is located. in such a way that a simple push on the elastic ring placed at the end of the rod, to maneuver it first slides over the chamfer 5, then on the cylindrical part of the rod, or finally arriving in its place, it closes by tightening lightly on the back of the groove 4.
On disassembly, the valve is placed in the closed position; it suffices to slightly separate the two ends' of the elastic ring 3 using a screwdriver for example, while opening the valve ,. The elastic ring. pushed by the chamfer 6 of the handwheel leaves its groove and follows the movement of the handwheel ;.
, As regards the elastic ring 10, its outer diameter is slightly greater than the maximum diameter of the groove which is reserved for it; on the body 9.
During assembly, the elastic ring is placed on the chamfer of the assembly.11, the tap or valve is in the closed position. A simple downward push on the snap ring - slides it in, closing

slightly to its place, where it detaches 1. na, slightly penetrating the bottom of its housing.
When dismantling, it suffices, with a screwdriver placed in the grooves 11, to release the elastic ring from its groove and to open the valve so that. this one 'is drawn' towards the. up through the handwheel 8.thread of @

maneuver,
The valve described above provides many advantages and in particular the following: the elastic ring 10 allows the packing gland to be eliminated, as a stop limiting the maximum opening of the valve or of the valve. It is even possible, with certain types of fittings, to eliminate this part definitively (fig. 1 and fig. 4). The thread or the internal thread ensure the upward or downward movement of the operating rod being then purely and simply transferred to the body of the tap or the valve.
Numerous modifications can be made to the valve described above by way of example. In particular, FIG. 4 represents a second valve in accordance with the invention, identical to the previous one as regards its principle. The only difference in embodiment is due to the shape of the handwheel 25 which is threaded instead of being threaded. The elastic ring 26 is then mounted in a groove of circular section, at the base of the handwheel. Three disassembly grooves 27 open into the housing reserved for the elastic ring 26. A mounting chamfer 28 is provided on the handwheel 25.
The advantages provided by the valve shown in Fig, 4 are quite similar to those provided by the valve shown in Fig, 1.
A tap or valve similar to one of the preceding descriptions, but fitted with elastic rings fig. 5, of square sections 29, rectangular 30 and 31 or obtained by the combination of any section with a portion of circular section 32 and 33, is in accordance with the present invention,
A tap or a valve similar to the preceding descriptions, but equipped either in full or
