Gear change device by chain derailment The main patent relates to a gear change device by chain derailment, comprising a movable chain guide supported by a deformable parallelogram comprising two levers articulated by their ends on two pivot supports, one, on a transverse axis for fixing to the suspension of the parallelogram and, the other, on a transverse support axis carrying the chain guide, device in which the levers and supports are made of molded plastic, while the transverse axes are made of metal.
The gear change device according to the present invention is characterized in that the supports each comprise a part in the form of a box comprising an axial tubular partition serving as centering on the corresponding axis and an annular recess delimited between this partition and the wall of the housing and serving as a housing for a coil spring working in torsion and acting on the one hand on the support and on the other hand on the axis, each of the supports further comprising a lateral boss housing a stop screw cooperating with a stud established on the front side of the inner lever to limit the transverse displacement of the chain guide assembly,
in that the support articulated on the support axis of the chain guide comprises a heel co-operating with a rod integral with the chain guide flange to limit forward the angular displacement of the chain guide assembly, and in that the support articulated on the axis of attachment to the suspension comprises a boss guiding the speed change control cable and allowing the support of the sheath of this cable.
An embodiment of the object of the invention is described below, by way of example, with reference to the appended drawing in which FIG. 1 is a front view of this embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a side view, in partial cross sections, corresponding to FIG. 1.
The supports 1 and 2 made of plastic material are respectively established with a closed part forming a housing, and an open part in the form of a yoke, the transverse sides of which 11-12-21-22 allow the articulation of the levers 3 and 4 constituting the deformable parallelogram of the gear change and also in plastic material.
The upper support 1 is established in its closed part with a cylindrical and axial partition 13, serving internally for centering a metal axis 5 whose cylindrical head 51 is housed in a chamber formed at the end of a bore 14 provided in the support. 1.
The articulation axis 5 is therefore perfectly centered in the upper support 1 by means of the two large concentric bearing surfaces. The annular recess between the bore 14 and the outside diameter of the cylindrical partition 1 also makes it possible to accommodate the coil spring 6, the outer strands 61 and 6 @ are respectively placed in a notch 52 provided in the head 51 of the 'axis 5 and in one of the holes 1 5 and 13 provided in the thickness of the bottom of the support box 1. The circular tensioning of the coil spring 6 is obtained by rotating the axis 5 by the inter medial of a hexagonal recess 53 made on its head 51.
The locking in position of said spring 6 is ensured by means of a washer 14, the axial opening of which with a flat surface is made integral in rotation with the threaded end of the axis 5, while its periphery is established with tabs. 141 folded down diametrically and vice versa to form a stop with respect to the support tab 15 as described in the main patent.
It should be noted that the holes 15 and 1 established in the thickness of the bottom of the support-box 1 allow, by simply moving the hooking strand 62, the modification of the circular tension imparted to the coil spring 6. This characteristic makes it possible to '' make a judicious choice of spring tension, taking into account the toothing differences of the freewheel used in order to obtain, in combination with the lower articulation, a correct take-up of chain slack.
For reasons of simplification of assembly and improvement of the cost price, provision is also made for the support 1 with a boss 18 having a shouldered hole for the passage of the control cable and the support of its sheath.
These arrangements thus described make it possible to obtain - a very resistant support allowing, thanks to the guiding of the axis 5, along its entire length, an articulation without play and practically no wear; a support forming a sealed box which protects the joint and the coil spring 6 from foreign bodies and bad weather; - a support which allows the tension of the articulation spring to be modified; - simple and rational assembly.
It should be considered that these arrangements are found for the lower articulation which also comprises a plastic support 2 with a cylindrical and axial partition 23 traversed by the metal axis 7 with head 71 embedded in a chamber formed at the end of the The bore 24 of the support 2. The coil spring 8 placed in the annular recess between the bore 24 and the outer diameter of the cylindrical partition 23 is hand held by its outer strands 81 and 82 respectively engaged in the notch 7 established on the head 71 of the axis 7 and on the opposite side in one of the holes 25 and 26 provided in the thickness of the bottom of the support housing 2.
The assembly of the lower articulation assembly on the roller holder assembly (intended for guiding the chain) is carried out as described in the main patent.
The circular tensioning of the coil spring 8 by rotary action exerted on the axis 7 by means of the hexagonal recess 73, is hand held by the rod 9 fixed on the roller holder flange and acting as described in the main patent.
The support 2 also has at its lower part a prominent heel 27 intended to prevent damage to the spring caused by an exaggerated forward rotation of the chain guide assembly (in the case of manual control for example).
In fact, in the extreme cases of use of the speed change, the chain guide assembly oscillates so as to be situated substantially perpendicular to the levers 3-4 of the parallelogram. The position of the prominent heel 27 is therefore judiciously established to allow the support of the rod 9 integral with the chain guide flange, so as to limit the oscillation of the chain guide assembly according to the normal capacity of the spring 8.
There is also provided an adjustment and stop means to limit the amplitude of deformation of the parallelogram formed by the supports 1-2 and the levers 3-4.
To this end, each support 1 and 2 comprises, along the outer face of one of its transverse sides the -22 of its part forming an open yoke, a boss 17-28 traversed transversely by a screw 10-11 locked in position. by means of a coil spring 12 and 13, working in compression. The inner lever 4 has, opposite the screws 10 and 11, two studs 41 and 42.
According to these arrangements, it is easy to understand that as a result of the deformations of the parallelogram the studs 41 and 42 come into abutment alternately against the end of the screws 10-11; consequently, by modifying by screwing or unscrewing the position of these screws on their boss integral with the supports, the amplitude of the transverse displacements of the chain guide assembly integral with the articulated parallelogram is thus modified.
It is obvious that the deformations of the articulated paral lélogramme are obtained by means of a control cable and an internal return spring, mounted by acting as indicated in the main patent.
In the adjustment device described above, the advantages obtained by the perfect accessibility of the two screws 10-11 located at the front and on the same side of the device, by the precision and the simplicity of the adjustment, must be emphasized. than through economic achievement. The complete transverse immobilization of the entire parallelogram can also be obtained by using screws of suitable length. This immobilization allows constant alignment of the chain guide on one of the freewheel pinions (in the event of a break in the control cable for example).
