La fig. 1 en est une vue de coupe axiale longi tudinale;
Length measuring device
The present invention relates to a device for measuring lengths, comprising a frame carrying a longitudinally movable key, characterized by a cursor integral with said key and intended to move opposite a graduation presented by the frame, this key being susceptible to to be actuated longitudinally by means of an at least partially threaded member rotatably mounted on a shaft carried by said frame, said member being integral with a drum provided with a graduation at its periphery intended to move opposite a fixed mark, the whole being arranged so that the key is capable of moving longitudinally when the threaded member moves rotatably.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the measuring device which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a view in longitudinal axial section;
fig. 2 is a partial side view
fig. 3 is an end view of a construction detail.
The device shown comprises a frame 1 comprising an upright 26 provided with a foot 27 and carrying, by means of two cross members 28 and 29, a slide 2, the lower end of the latter being opposite the foot 27; in the slide 2 is mounted a longitudinally movable key 3 carrying a guide 4 intended to move in a slot 5 made in the wall thereof; the key 3 and the guide 4 carry by means of a screw 6, a cursor constituted by a plate 7 and a nut 8; this makes it possible to clamp the plate 7 against the edges of the slot 5 when it comes to immobilizing the key 3 in the slide 2; the edge of one of the sides of the plate 7 is provided with a vernier 9 intended to move opposite a graduation 10 reproduced on the slide 2.
The key 3 has along one of its generatrices a thread portion 11 with which a thread 12 can come into engagement arranged at the periphery of a drum 13 rotatably mounted on a shaft 14 carried by the cross members 28 and 29; the drum 13, arranged between the latter, has a long hub 15; on the latter is fixed, by means of a screw 17, a drum 16 provided with a graduation 18 at its periphery; a sleeve 19 is mounted on the hub 15 and bears on the cross member 28 of the frame 1.
The drum 13 has at its periphery a part 23 free of any thread and a tenon 24 intended to abut against a stop 25 screwed on the frame 1 the part 23 allows the key 3 to be released when it comes to moving the latter. ci manually; this part 23 is opposite the key 3 when the tenon 24 is in contact with the stop 25.
The drum 13 is mounted on an eccentric part 30 of the shaft 14; it is therefore sufficient to move the latter in rotation when it comes to bringing the drum 13 closer to or away from the button 3.
On the frame 1, on each side thereof, are fixed two flanges 31 intended to protect the drum 13, these flanges 31 being assembled to one another by means of screws 32; one of the. flanges 31 bears a reference line 33 opposite which the graduation 18 of drum 16 is intended to move.
The tube 2 and the key 3 can be sized so that the latter has a thread 11 having the same diameter as the drum 13; the thread 12 of the latter can be made with a left hand pitch, while that of the key 3 can be machined with a. not to the right and vice versa.
The thread 11 can be made all around the key 3; likewise the drum 13 may have a continuous thread 12, that is to say not have a part 23.
The measuring device shown is used as follows:
When it comes to determining a certain length from a mark 34 carried by the foot 27, the key 3, released from the drum 13, is moved manually in the slide 2 by means of the screw 6; then, when the distance envisaged is, by means of the graduation 10, measured approximately, to within a millimeter for example, the drum 13 is brought into engagement with the key 3; this is then displaced longitudinally by the drum 13 actuated in rotation by means of the drum 16, the graduation 18 of the latter then moving opposite the mark 33 to the desired position.
It is planned to produce a key 3 provided with a rack intended to engage with the thread 12 of the drum 13.
