Bore checker.
The object of the present invention is a bore tester, comprising a tube carrying a head at one of its ends and a comparator at the other end, the needle of the comparator being controlled by a movable pusher carried by said head. This verifier is characterized by two guide fingers mounted in the aforementioned head and arranged symmetrically on either side of the aforementioned pusher, these fingers being integral with one another and movable in a direction parallel to that of the displacement of the pusher. , all arranged so that these guide fingers protrude on the face of the head and can be withdrawn at the same time. than the pusher inside the head, in order to facilitate the introduction of the latter inside the part, the bore of which must be checked.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a general view thereof in the use position. Fig. 2 is an elevational view thereof and FIG. 3 is a section through IIIIII of FIG. 2. FIG. 4 shows the left part of FIG. 3, on a larger scale, and FIG. 6 also shows the right part of this figure. Finally, fig. 5 is a cut by
V-V of fig. 2.
The embodiment shown comprises a metal tube 1 carrying a head 2 at one of its ends and a micrometric comparator 3 at the other end.
The head 2 comprises a box 4, a cylindrical extension 5 of which is screwed into the end of the tube 1, and a cover 6 fixed to the box by screws 7. The comparator 3, of a known type, comprises a box 8, in which is mounted a mechanism actuating two needles each moving in front of a graduation of a dial 9, one of the graduations giving the millimeters and the other, the 1/1 ,, of mm. The housing 8 is extended by a tube 10, in which the comparator pusher 11 slides. The tube 10 is clamped in a socket 12 which contains a split conical sleeve 13 and which is screwed onto a sleeve 14, itself screwed to the end of the tube 1.
Inside and in the axis of the tube 1 is mounted a cylindrical metal rod 15 pressing on the pusher 1 1 and being able to slide in guide rings 16 and 17 fixed to the tube by screws 18, respectively 19. The tube 1 has, in its middle part, two diametrically opposed grooves 20 and 21, through which pass two screws 22, 23 respectively; a knurled mesh 24 is mounted on the tube 1 and which can slide on it; this sleeve is made integral, on the one hand, by the screw 22 of a ring 25 mounted on the rod 15, inside the tube and able to slide therein and. on the other hand, by the screw 23 passing through the ring 25 of the rod 15.
Around the latter and between the rings 16 and 25 is arranged a coil spring 26.
Inside the box 4 of the head 9 is rotatably mounted a lever 27, of axis 28, having two arms 29 and 30, the ends of which carry knives 31, respectively 32. The extension 5 of the box 4 has two longitudinal housings 33 and 34; in the housing 33 can slide a metal rod 35, one end of which abuts on the rod 15 and the other end on the knife 31 of the lever 27. In the housing 34 is placed a coil spring 36 of traction, hooked, d 'on the one hand, to a pin 37 resting on the end of the extension 5 and, on the other hand, on the arm 29 of the lever 27.
The box 4 is pierced with five cylindrical housings 40, 41, 42, 43 and 44, with axes parallel to each other and perpendicular to the axis of the tube 1. The housings 40, 42 and 43 pass through the box, while the housings 41. and 44 are one-eyed. blanks the housing 40 slides a pusher 46 having, at one of its ends, a collar 47, on which the knife 32 of the lever 27 bears.
In the housing 41 slides a rod 48 subjected to the action of a coil spring 49 placed between the rod 48 and the bottom of the housing 41: the end of the rod abuts against the underside of the collar 47 of the pusher 46, in such a way that the spring 49 constantly tends to press the pusher 46 against the knife 32 of the lever 27.
A plate 50, of generally triangular shape (fig. 2) carries, fixed to it by screws, two guide fingers 51 and 52 sliding in the housings 42, respee strongly 43, of the box; these metal fingers carry, at their free end, a spherical steel ball 53, 54 respectively driven into a hollow of the finger.
The plate 50 also carries a metal bush 55, with an axis parallel to the axis of the guide fingers and which slides in the housing 44. blanks this bush can slide a metal rod 5fi resting, on the one hand. on the cover 6 and, on the other hand, on a coil spring 57 placed in the socket, between this bottom and this socket and the rod 56; ; this spring constantly tends to push the guide fingers, so that they protrude outside the face of the box 4.
The plate 50 also has, in its median part, a notch 58, in which is placed the upper edge of the arm 30 of the lever 57; this arm has, on each of its lateral faces and above the knife 32, a shoulder 3 (3n, 30b, on which an edge of the notch 58 can rest. This shoulder has a rounded shape in the longitudinal direction to allow the edge of the notch to roll over it.
The cover 6 of the box 4 door, screwed on it. a fixed stop 59 having an external thread 60 on which can be screwed, ie a nut in the form of a cap. either an additional stop; these additional stops (not shown) are of different length and can be screwed onto each other in varying numbers depending on the size of the bore to be checked.
All parts subjected to support or friction are case-hardened or hardened steel, so as to ensure the duration and accuracy of the verifier.
The way to use the checker is as follows:
Knowing approximately the size of the bore to be checked, the length of the fixed stop 59 is adjusted by screwing in the desired number of additional stops, so that the length between the end of the stop and the end of the pusher 4 - (i is equal, roughly, to the bore to be checked.
Before inserting the head 2 inside the part, the sleeve 24 is slid on the tube 1, in the direction of the head 2; this movement drives the rod 15 which presses on the rod 3d which, itself, rotates the lever 27 in the direction of clockwise (fig. 4) against the spring 36; the knife 32 tends to leave the collar 47 of the pusher 46, but the latter follows it, pushed by the rod 48, itself biased by the spring 49; the pusher is therefore withdrawn inside the box 4; in its movement, the lever 27 has pushed the plate 50 against the spring 57 and the guide fingers 51 and 52 have also withdrawn, together with the pusher, inside the box.
The head 2 is then introduced into the part to be checked to the desired depth and the sleeve 24 is released; the lever 27, biased by the spring 36, will pivot in the opposite direction by pressing on the pusher and leaving the plate 50; the pusher will come back in. its initial projecting position, as well as the guide fingers pushed by the spring 57.
The symmetrical position of the two guide fingers on either side of the pusher makes it possible to automatically obtain centering of the latter.
With the head 2 in place, the device is imparted a rocking movement on either side of the axis of the part to be checked, in the axial plane passing through the axis of the pusher (fig. 11); it is understood that this movement will cause the needle of the comparator to move from a point which may be the zero of the comparator, for example, which will be a point of reversal of the movement of the needle; this turning point is reached when the longitudinal axis of the verifier coincides with the longitudinal axis of the part to be checked, the position in which the measurement must be made, it is repeated, with the same process for different diameters of the part to check.
The verifier described above has the advantage of having movable and retractable guide fingers, facilitating the introduction of the verifier into the parts to be verified. The shape of the ends of the guide fingers makes it easy to check the bore of narrow grooves, such as, for example, ball bearing races. Finally, the end of the guide fingers is formed of a steel ball which can be easily hardened and which therefore exhibits great resistance to wear.
