Household electric mixer-grinder appliance Rotary mixer-grinder household appliances are already known, commonly called Mixers, consisting of a base mounted on a bowl containing knives that an electric motor, housed in the base, drives in rapid rotation. In particular, so-called electric coffee grinders have thus been produced which pulverize the coffee with a very high speed. However, this type of device has a drawback during many operations and, in particular, for grinding coffee: the user is obliged to assess the operating time of the device himself, because the quality of the result the operation depends very much on this duration.
In the case of coffee, for example, a too short operating time leaves pieces of beans insufficiently ground, while too long a rotation time pulverizes the coffee into an impalable powder.
Since the user has a switch button to control the running of the motor, it is usually recommended to count a certain number of seconds from the moment he presses the button until he releases it. This estimate of the operating time is very imprecise and often leads to miscalculations.
The object of the present invention is an apparatus designed in such a way as to avoid this drawback.
According to the invention, a household electric mixer-grinder appliance comprises, for the control of an electric motor mounted in the base of the appliance, a switch actuated by a timer, which is intended to determine the closing time of this inter breaker.
The timer can advantageously be constituted by a motor spring clockwork movement. Preferably, an organ that can be operated by hand enables both the closing of the switch and the winding of the clockwork movement which, after a predetermined time, reopens this switch. .
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, this member is constituted by a lever for winding the clockwork movement which is connected to this movement by a ratchet device ; in its rest position , said lever, under the pressure of the mainspring, keeps said switch open. Thus, when this lever is moved in the winding direction, the mainspring is charged by the ratchet and the switch closes automatically; then, when, after reassembly, the lever is left to itself, it returns to its rest position and, under the pressure of the mainspring, reopens said switch at the end of its movement.
It is advantageous to supplement the device with an acoustic warning device which is triggered at the end of the time determined by the timer.
Thus, when the engine stops, the user, even if the device is very quiet, is warned that the work is done and, if this device is noisy, when it is stopped, the acoustic signal will work. warns the user that this shutdown is intended and that it is not due to an operating fault.
The acoustic warning device may be electrically operated; in particular, the motor switch can be resiliently closing and can be made in the form of a reversing switch, so that its opening caused by the return of the lever causes the closing of a contact. ringtone, for example.
Preferably, this acoustic warning device is mechanical and actuated by the only return movement of this lever.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one form and variant embodiments of the apparatus which is the subject of the invention, produced in the form of a coffee grinder.

Fig. 7 is a sectional view along the line VII-VII of FIG. 4. FIG. 8 is a plan view similar to FIGS. 2 and 4 of a mechanism comprising, as an acoustic warning device, a music box.
Fig. 9 is a sectional view along the line IX-IX of FIG. 8.
The mill shown in fig. 1 consists of a base 1, the general shape of which is of revolution, surmounted by a bowl 2 which is closed by a cover 3 which may be transparent.
In known manner, inside this base .is disposed an electric motor whose vertical shaft passes through the upper part of the base, enters the bowl and which carries knives acting as grinders. As is usual, this motor can be started by pressing a button 4 which closes the circuit of said motor.
The periphery of the base of the plinth has a slot 5 through which the end 6a of a lever 6 passes (FIG. 2). Starting from the original position shown in solid lines in FIG. 1, the lever 6 can be moved in the direction of the arrow F over a certain distance and, given to itself, it returns after a longer or shorter time, depending on the amplitude of the displacement which has caused it. been imposed, in its initial position.
The duration of the return movement being thus essentially determined by the amplitude of the voluntary displacement given to the lever, on the base of the base and facing the slot 5, can be given indications corresponding to this duration, for example numbers of seconds or more simply in the case of a coffee grinder, as can be seen in fig. 1, indications G, M, F, that is to say coarse, medium, fine corresponding to the desired grinding quality.
As can be seen in fig. 2, the lever 6 is integral with a pin 7 which pivots in the center of a plate 8 mounted in the base and the plinth and which is fixed there, for example by means of tabs 9. The lever 6 carries an insulating finger 10a which is an extension of a part made of an insulating material 10 fixed to this lever. This finger is in the form of a thin wedge arranged so as to be able to be inserted between arched elastic blades 11 connected to conductors 12 connected so as to bypass switch 4. Optionally, the button of switch 4 can be omitted. .
When the finger 10a is placed between the blades 11, the contact is cut off; when it is removed, contact is made and the engine runs. When the lever 6 returns to its initial position, the finger 10a is introduced again between the blades 11 and cuts off the contact.
The shaft 7 on which the lever 6 is wedged is the winding shaft of a clockwork mechanism which, in the example shown, is that of a music box. This mechanism, seen in plan in FIG. 2 and in section in FIG. 3, comprises a cast iron base 13 fixed on the plate 8. On this base is fixed a barrel 14 containing a spiral spring 15, motor of the movement. The spiral spring 15 is, by its central end, hooked to the axis 7 and, by its peripheral end, fixed to the internal side wall of the barrel 14. On the shaft 7 is mounted a field gear 16. connection between gear 16 and shaft 7 is provided by a rocket device.
To this end, the shaft 7 is integral with a ring 31 which carries an elastic blade 32 for mant ratchet, the free end of which cooperates with a flat ratchet tooth 16b provided on the underside of the field gear 16 .
The field toothing 16a of the upper face of this gear meshes with a toothed pinion 17 integral with a toothed pinion of larger diameter 18. The common shaft 19 of these two pinions is rotatably mounted at one of its ends in the side of the barrel 14 and at the other end in a support 20 attached to the base 13. Usually, the free part of the shaft 19, visible in FIG. 2, carries a spiked cylinder cooperating with a steel comb with teeth of unequal length fixed opposite the cylinder on the base 13. These last two components, not necessary, have not been represented at hg. 2.
The pinion 18 meshes with a toothed pinion 21 which is itself integral with a toothed pinion of larger diameter 22, which in turn meshes with a toothed pinion of very small diameter 23 carried by a shaft 24. On & e last shaft is wedged a toothed wheel 25, which meshes with a worm 26 cut in a shaft 27 on which is fixed by simple clamping a braking pallet 28. The common shaft of the two pinions 21 and 22, the shaft 24 and the shaft 27 are all three carried in pivots formed in lugs folded over from a cutout 29.
This assembly, that is to say the piece 29 cut and folded and the three shafts that it carries with their pins and their accessories, is fixed to the base by screws 30 which allow their position to be adjusted by compared to the barrel and the pinions it carries. The operation of the mechanism which has just been described is as follows: when, starting from the position shown in FIG. 2, the lever 6 is rotated in the direction of the arrow F, the elastic blades 11 touch each other and start the electric motor; the pawl 32, sliding on the teeth 16b, the movement of the lever 6 bands the spiral spring 15.
When the lever 6 is abandoned, the spring 15 by relaxing tends to drive the lever 6 towards its initial position, but the shaft 7, being made integral by the pawl 32 which, in this sense, cooperates with the ratchet den ture 16b, of the gear 16, in this return movement drives the series of gears up to the braking pallet; the return movement is thus regularly slowed down and is accomplished in a slow and uniform movement.
At the end of the return movement, the spring 15, to which, preferably, a certain initial tension has been conferred, is still sufficiently powerful, despite its relaxation, to force the finger 10a to be introduced between the blades 11; the blades being separated, the electric motor of the device stops.
For normal use on a grinder reserved exclusively for grinding coffee, switch 4 is unnecessary. However, this switch can be kept, either when the appliance can be used for other grinds or mixes for which the duration is not determined, or for an additional action of only a few seconds if it is considered that the result. The state obtained with the timer switch is not satisfactory.
'In the embodiment shown, the lever 6 can be fixedly wedged on the shaft 7; it can also be fixed to this shaft by the intermediary of a fitting easily demon table, so as to allow, in the event of fatigue of the mainspring 15, to increase by means of a winding key the tension ini tial of this spring, this tension being necessary to ensure the correct opening of the switch at the end of the return movement of the lever.
The mechanism shown in fig. 4 is broadly similar to that which my being in FIG. 2 and the same components bear the same reference numbers. However, compared to FIG. 2, the shaft 19 is removed and the dimension of the base 13 reduced.
In addition, in this variant embodiment, the elastic contact is constituted by two elastic mes, the first 40 folded in the form of the number 2, the second 41 in the form of a square (FIG. 7). These two blades, which respectively lead to the two motor supply conductors 12, are fixed to a plate 42 made of an insulating material which closes an opening of the metal plate 8 of the device.
The lever 6 carries an insulating lining 43 which, in the return movement of this lever, when the latter reaches the position shown in phantom in FIG. 4, moves the blade 41 away from the blade 40 and, consequently, interrupts the connection between the conductors 12 (movement of the lever in the direction of the arrow FI).
In addition, in the variant shown in FIG. 4, the bottom 8 carries a bearing 44 in a flat opening which can move a flattened rod 45 which carries, at its end directed towards the lever 6, a button 46 pushed in the direction of said lever by a spring 47. On the opposite side at the button, a finger 48 is articulated at 49 at the other end of the flat rod 45. A leaf spring 50 is fixed against the edge of the flat rod 45. By its heel fixed to the rod 45, it constitutes a stopper limiting, by its contact with the bearing 44, the movement (to the right in FIG. 4) of the rod 45 under the thrust of the spring 47. This spring 50 also tends to lead the finger 48 into the alignment of the rod 45.
The finger 48 cannot, however, under the pressure of the spring 50, exceed the alignment position because it comprises a folded spout 48a (FIG. 5) which, in this alignment position, comes into contact with the end of. the rod 45. The edge of the finger 48 is profiled in the form of an inclined ramp 48b intended to cooperate with a fixed bracket 51, one of the branches of which penetrates into the body of the bearing 44, while the other is fixed to the latter by a screw 52 (fig. 5). The 48th end of the finger 48 is directed towards a spring blade 53 bent at right angles which carries at its end a hammer 54 intended to strike a gong 55.
The folded part of the blade 53 is fixed on the plate 8.
When, in the return movement of the lever 6, the button 46 is pushed by the latter, the finger 48 is moved and bends the elastic blade 53 then, by the action of the caliper 51 on the ramp 48b, this finger is moved away from this blade 53, so that the hammer 54 is released and strikes the stamp 55. In FIGS. 5 and 6, the hammer 54 thus successively takes positions 54a and 54b.
When the lever 6 is moved again in the direction of the arrows F, under the action of the springs 47, 50, the finger 48 and the rod 45 re assume the initial and aligned position which is shown in FIG. 4.
In the variant embodiment shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, the lever 6 carries a button 56 on which the elongated slot 57a of a connecting rod 57 is engaged.
In the example shown, this connecting rod is simply constituted by a metal wire of round section bent on itself appropriately to form an elongated loop. The other end of this connecting rod is articulated to a crank pin 58 which is wedged to the end 59 of the shaft of the barrel 60 of a conventional music box, that is to say comprising a cylinder with spikes 61 and a comb 62.
An elastic thread 63, folded in the form of a gallows and terminated in the form of a hairpin 63a normally prevents, by its end 63b, the rotation of the regulator 64 of the music box (position in dotted lines in fig. 9) . The wire 63 is fixed to the music box in such a way that the loop of the hairpin 63a is placed in the path of the lever 6 in its return movement, so that the lever 6, in its initial position, pushes aside the end 63b of the regulator (position in solid lines in fig. 9).
When the lever 6 is moved away from the stop 9 (fig. 8) by rotating it in the direction of arrow F, the spring of the timer identical to that shown in fig. 4 which, in FIG. 8, is shown schematically by the rectangle 65. In this movement, the button 56 moves in the slot 57a.
When the lever reaches position 6a (fig. 8), the button 56 exerts a traction on the connecting rod 57, which traction is transmitted to the crank pin 58 and causes the partial winding of the clockwork movement of the music box. ; the latter is thus raised during the movement of the lever 6 from position 6a to position 6b, which brings the crank pin 58 to position 58a.
When the lever 6 has been moved away from its initial position, the blades 40 and 41 have come into contact and the engine of the apparatus is started; at the same time, the end 63b of the elastic thread 63, released by the movement of the lever 6, has come opposite the regulator 64, so that the rotation of the latter is prevented and the music box remains silent . The lever being abandoned in position 6b, it performs its return movement in the direction of the arrow FI being timed by the single action of timer 65. In fact, slot 57a is long enough so that the button 56 does not meet, before the lever has returned to its initial position, the end of this slot 57a located on the side of the crankpin 58.
When the lever returns to the vicinity of this rest position, it separates the blades 40 and 41, which stops the electric motor and, at the end of its travel, it comes, acting on the loop 63a; lift the end 63b of the wire 63 '; the regulator 64 is then released and the crankpin 58, which had taken the position 58a, returns to the position 58 by returning the connecting rod 57 to the position shown in solid line in fig. 8. During the return of the crankpin 58, the music box operates; a stop 67 is advantageously provided to limit the return stroke of the crank pin 58.
Thus, as we could see, the mechanism of the music box is reassembled during the end of the movement by hand of the lever 6, this. mechanism does not influence the timing of the return movement of this lever and it is released only at the end of the return stroke of said lever.
As further shown in FIG. 9, to avoid having to make a slot in the body 1 of the device for the passage of the lever 6, this slot is provided between the raised edge 68 of the plate 8 forming the bottom of the device and the lower edge 69. Of the vertical body of this appliance (see fig. 1). To pass through this slot, the lever 6 is angled and it is raised vertically at 70 to form the lever allowing the lever to be moved by hand.
