Machine tool control device The object of the present invention is a machine tool control device, comprising a coupling sleeve capable of being brought, by axial displacement, into engagement with one or more with the other of two coaxial driving parts rotating at different speeds, characterized in that this sleeve carries two cams cooperating one or the other with a common lever, depending on whether the sleeve is engaged with one either of the two leading parties.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, incorporated in a machine for cutting the gears by generation.
Fig. 1 is a more or less schematic front view of the cutting machine, and FIGS. 2 and 3 are a vertical section and a horizontal section, respectively, of this machine, particularly showing the control device.
The machine has been shown only in so far as is necessary to understand the functions performed by the control device. It comprises a frame 1 on which is fixed a support 2 on a pivot 3 of which is mounted a rocker 4. This has a pair of bearings 4a (fig. 2), in which is twisted a spindle 5 carrying a milling cutter. 16 to cut the gears by generation. The rotary movement of this spindle is transmitted to a workpiece-driven cleat 6 by a worm gear 7, 8, a shaft 9, a gear harness 10 and a spindle 11.
The piece in or vrage 12 is clamped against the cleat 6 by a cleat 13 carried by a spindle 14. The spindles 11 and 14 are journaled in bearings 15a, 15b from the manufacture of a part with a longitudinal carriage 15 guided on the frame 1 in a direction parallel to the axis of the cleats 6, 13 and of the workpiece 12, in order to allow the longitudinal advance of the latter relative to the cutter 16.
The approach and disengagement movement in the radial direction of the part is obtained by pivoting the lever 4.
If the machine has to cut teeth on short pieces, the longitudinal feed movement can be dispensed with; on the other hand, the approach and the engagement in the radial direction must not be abrupt. The purpose of the device which will now be described is to allow the control of movements so that the two types of work can be carried out in as short a time as possible, and to provide safeguards against false maneuvers when passing from a kind of work to another.
The spindle 11 on which the advance movements, etc. depend, drives, by a harness of gears not shown, a shaft 17 (fig. 2 and 3). This entraiine, through the intermediary of a bevel gear 18, 19 and a bush 20, a first driving part 21 of a claw clutch. This part 21 has a set of teeth 21a which is engaged with a wheel 22 wedged on a countershaft 23 journalled in the frame and carrying a pinion 24 meshing with a wheel 25 integral with a second driving part 26 of the clutch.
The parts 19, 20, 21 and the part 25, 26 are mounted on a camshaft 27 on which a clutch sleeve 28 disposed between the parts 21 and 26 is slidably keyed. This sleeve chon came from manufacture with two cams 29 and 30 which are offset axially so that, depending on the axial position of the sleeve 28, one or the other of them cooperates alone, with a common lever 31 which is pivoted on the shaft 23 and held fixed in the longitudinal direction of this shaft by two stop rings 32. This lever acts by a pusher 33 on a stop screw 34 adjustable in the rocker 4, to rotate the latter and in this way produce the radial movements of the cutter 16 relative to the workpiece 12.
On the shaft 27 is fixed the cam 35 which, through the intermediary of a lever mechanism 36 and a connecting rod 37, produces the movements of the carriage 15 which is biased by a spring 38.
In the position of the sleeve 28 which is shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, this sleeve is engaged with the driving part 26 which rotates slowly (speed multiplied by the return to the grain 21a, 22 and 24, 25). The shaft 27 rotates slowly and produces, by the cam 35 with a spiral profile, the movement of the carriage 15 and the workpiece 12. This slow movement to the right (in fig. 1) lasts as long as the cutter 16 is engaged. in part 12, the cam 29 does not act on the lever 31 before the stiff radial part 35a of the cam 35 attacks the cam follower of the lever 36.
At this moment, the projection 29a of the cam 29 acts on the lever 31 and releases, by a pivoting of the rocker 4, the cutter 16 from the part 12, while the carriage 15 is brought back to the left (fig. 1). by the spring 38. In practice, means are provided which, during this phase, stop the movement of the control shaft 17, and therefore of the entire device, and which produce the setting of another part 12 between the cleats 6 and 13. Then, a new movement of the carriage 15 and of the part 12 to the right occurs during the cutting of the teeth.
When the sleeve 28 is engaged with the driving part 21, it rotates relatively quickly; the cam 30 which now acts on the lever 31 has a gentle slope 30a which causes the milling cutter 16 to sink radially into the workpiece and leaves the cutter engaged in the workpiece only for a few revolutions of the latter. To prevent the cam 35, which always rotates at the same speed as the sleeve 28, from producing a movement of the carriage 15, it is necessary to put the lever mechanism 36 and the connecting rod 37 out of action, for example by unscrewing the screw 39 which is part of this mechanism.
The axial displacement of the sleeve 28 is effected by means of a hand lever 40, 41, 42 of a known type, pivoted in the frame 1. This displacement is only possible if one has lifted the path of the part. 40 of the hand lever a lock 43 which is guided in a hole in the frame 1 and connected to a locking lever 44 pivoted to the frame 1 at 45 and loaded by a spring 46. If this lever 44 is moved in the direction of needles d 'a watch (in fig. 1), to put the lock 43 in the inactive position, it also acts on the lever 31 in the same direction as one or the other of the cams 29 and 30, and therefore produces the release of cutter 16 from part 12.
It should be noted that the hand lever 40 could be connected to a member which would move the lever 36 axially on its pivot with a view to placing it in front of the cam 35 or next to the latter, which would dispense with the need for 'actuation of the screw 39 for the purpose indicated above.
