L'axe 8 actionne rotativement une roue 13, et par l'intermédiaire d'un changement de vitesse d'un type connu, comprenant entre autre des roues 14, 15 et 16, un axe 17; à ce dernier est .clavetée une roue 18 entraînant, par l'intermédiaire des roues 19 et 20, une broche cannelée 21 portant, à l'intérieur d'une boîte 22 faisant partie de la poupée 4, une roue dentée 23;
L'arbre de commande 57 actionne au moyen de roues dentées 58 et 59 un arbre intermédiaire 60 logé dans la chambre 2; outre la roue dentée 59 qui est montée libre sur lui, ce dernier est pourvu d'une autre roue 61 également montée libre, d'un pignon claveté 62, d'une roue dentée 65 destinée à assurer le verrouillage de la table porte-outil 6; les roues 59 et 61 font partie d'un inver seur de marche dont l'organe baladeur de commande 66 est claveté sur l'arbre 60;
Le tour automatique représenté est utilisé comme suit: Le moteur non représenté en traîne rotativement dans un sens ou dans l'autre l'axe 8 suivant que l'organe 10 est en prise avec la roue 9 ou avec la roue 11; cet axe 8 par l'intermédiaire des roues 13 et 14 actionne d'une part la vis-mère 32 et, d'autre part, la broche cannelée 21 et la broche 26 de la poupée 4; la vis-mère 32 par l'intermé diaire de l'écrou 34 déplace longitudinale ment ,le plateau 3 par exemple dans le sens de la flèche 107, devant la table porte-outil 6 qui est immobilisée;
peu avant la fin de la passe, dans une position qui peut être réglée à l'aide du buttoir 35 correspondant, celui-ci vient en contact avec le levier 37 qui, pivotant sur son axe de fixation à la bride 43, fait cou lisser la tringle 38 en sens inverse de la flèche 107, ce qui assure le déplacement du secteur denté 47 actionnant la roue 48 de fa çon à amener l'organe claveté 53 en prise avec l'organe correspondant 54 qui est alors en traîné rotativement par la vis-mère 32; la roue 55 de l'organe 54, par la roue 56, ac tionne l'arbre 57 et par l'intermédiaire de celui-ci l'arbre 60;
la roue 65 de ce dernier assure au moyen de la roue 102 le déverrouil lage de la roue 100 et de l'arbre 99 de la table porte-outil 6, cette roue 100 est alors entraînée rotativement par la roue 63 de façon à faire reculer, grâce à son moyeu fileté, l'arbre 99 et la table porte-outil 6 de façon à dégager la pièce en travail; simultanément l'arbre 60, par l'intermédiaire de l'arbre 70 du disque 71 du curseur 74 et du levier 76, commande la rotation de la roue 78 d'une quantité déter minée;
cette roue 78 actionne à son tour, par l'intermédiaire de l'arbre 77, de l'axe 86 et des roues correspondantes, l'axe 91 dont le filetage 92 déplace la coulisse 94 et, par con séquent, l'arbre 99 et la table 6 vers la pièce à usiner d'une longueur représentant l'épais seur de matière qui sera enlevée par l'outil à la passe suivante: du fait de la forme de la rainure 50 de la roue 48, le même mouve ment rotatif de cette dernière qui assure l'en clenchement de l'organe 53 assure également le déclenchement de celui-ci et l'arrêt de Par- bre 57;
la tringle 38 dans son déplacement en sens -inverse de la flèche 107, actionne égale ment le bras 41 et l'organe de couplage 10 qui, à la fin -de la passe envisagée inverse le sens de marche de l'axe 8 et par conséquent de la vis-mère 32 et de la table 3; peu avant la fin du recul à vide de la table 3 le buttoir 35 dé place le levier 36 et par celui-ci la tringle 38 qui, d'une part, à l'aide du secteur denté 47 et de la roue 48 enclenchera l'organe 53, dont le sens-de rotation est inverse, le même que celui des roues 63 et 65;
la roue 63 déplace alors la .roue 100 et, par conséquent, l'arbre 99 et la table 6 en avant vers la pièce à usiner d'une quantité égale à celle dont elle vient de reculer et la roue 65 entraîne la roue folle 102, de manière à amener la battée 103 en regard du tenon 105; le même mouvement rotatif de la roue 48 assure l'enclenchement puis le déclenchement de l'organe 53;

Fig. 6 is a view of a construction detail.
Fig. 7 is a view of a toothed wheel including. the hub has a countersink.
Fig. 8 is a plan view of the. toothed wheel engaged with the toothed sector, and fig. 9 is a view of an adjustable stopper. The automatic lathe shown comprises a frame 1 having a middle chamber 2, a table 3 movable longitudinally on which is mounted a headstock 4 and a tailstock 5, and a tool-holder table 6 movable transversely.
In the frame 1 is housed a motor, not shown, rotating a wheel 7 mounted free on an axis 8; this wheel 7 forms a whole with a bevel wheel 9 forming part of a reverse gear comprising a coupling member 10 keyed on the axis 8, and movable longitudinally on the latter, this or gane 10 being able to engage either with wheel 9, or with another bevel wheel 11 free on axis 8; these wheels 9 and 11 are in engagement with a common toothed wheel 12 carried by the frame 1.
The axis 8 rotatably actuates a wheel 13, and by means of a speed change of a known type, comprising inter alia wheels 14, 15 and 16, an axis 17; to the latter is .clavetée a wheel 18 driving, via the wheels 19 and 20, a splined spindle 21 carrying, inside a box 22 forming part of the tailstock 4, a toothed wheel 23;
the latter is movable longitudinally on the splined spindle 22 and, by means of the wheels 24 and 25 rotatably actuates the spindle 26 provided with a reverser, not shown of the headstock 4.
The aforementioned wheel 13 drives wheels 27 and 28 carried by an axle 29 and, through these, wheels 30 and 31; the latter is keyed to the lead screw 32 having a threaded part 33 which allows a nut 34 fixed to the table 3 to be moved lengthwise.
To the latter are fixed two adjustable ridges 35 intended to move by means of two levers 36 and 37 a rod 38 movable longitudinally in smooth necks 39 and 40 carried by the frame 1; this rod 38 is provided with an arm 41 making it possible to move the coupling member 10 of the gear reverser which the axis 8 has.
The levers 36 and 37 are articulated -à flanges 42 respectively 43 which have the walls of the chamber 2.
The rod 38 is provided with a collar 44 which, by means of the bars 45 and -46 rotatably displaces a toothed sector 47 in engagement with a conical toothed wheel 48 pivoted on a support 49 of the frame 1, the bar 46 being pi voted on a flange 109 (fig. 5) of the frame 1.
The wheel 48 is provided with a curvilinear groove 50 (fig. 1, 8) in which is engaged a tenon 51 provided with an arm 52 intended to move longitudinally on the shaft 32 of the lead screw, a member key 53 capable of engaging and disengaging from a corresponding member 54; the latter mounted freely on the axis 32 is provided with a toothed bevel wheel 55 in engagement with a corresponding wheel 56 keyed on a control shaft 57.
The aforementioned pin 51 moves in the groove 50 along a radius of the wheel 48 when the latter is rotated by the toothed sector 47 so that the arm 52 is also moved longitudinally.
The control shaft 57 actuates by means of toothed wheels 58 and 59 an intermediate shaft 60 housed in the chamber 2; in addition to the toothed wheel 59 which is mounted free on it, the latter is provided with another wheel 61 also mounted free, a keyed pinion 62, a toothed wheel 65 intended to ensure the locking of the tool-holder table 6; the wheels 59 and 61 form part of a reverser of which the sliding control member 66 is keyed on the shaft 60;
this member can be moved by means of a net ma not shown and is intended to engage either with the wheel 59 or with the wheel 61, these wheels being in engagement with a corresponding bevel wheel 67 which carries a fixed axle 68 to the wall of the chamber 2.
The aforementioned pinion 62 drives a wheel 69 èlavetée on a shaft 70 disposed through one of the walls of the chamber 2, and carrying outside thereof a disc 71; the latter has a rectilinear linear groove 72 in which is arranged ixu slider 73 whose position is adjustable, this slider carrying one end of a bar 74 whose other end moves one of the branches 75 of a lever with two branches 76 mounted freely on one. adjustment shaft 77.
On this is keyed, outside the chamber 2, a toothed wheel 78 whose teeth are engaged with one or the other of the pawls 79 and 80 that carries the other branch 81 of the vier. 76; the movement of the latter is transmitted to the wheel 78 either by the pawl 79 in order to provide the latter with a determined direction of rotation, or by the pawl 80 which imbues the wheel 78 in the opposite direction of rotation, the pawl unused being raised.
It is therefore possible, by adjusting the position of the cursor 73, to obtain, for a given angular displacement of the disc 71, a greater or lesser angular displacement of the wheel 78 and consequently of the shaft 77: This shaft 77 rotates two wheels. toothed 82 and 83 respectively engaged with wheels 84 and. 85 crazy climbs on an axis 86; the latter also carries idle mounted, two toothed wheels 87 and 88 respectively in engagement with wheels 89 and 90 keyed on an axis 91 provided at one of its ends with a thread 92.
A sliding member, not shown, keyed on the axis 86 but movable longitudinally on the latter, can be engaged either with the wheel 84 or with the wheel 85 according to the desired speed; a similar sliding member, not shown, mounted on the axle 86, can be engaged either with the wheel 87 or with the wheel 88 also according to the desired speed.
The threaded portion 92 of the pin 91 is engaged in a conduit 93 which comprises a slide 94 intended to move on a support 95 forming part of the frame 1. The other end of the pin 91 is engaged in a fixed bracket 96. to one of the walls of chamber 2.
The slide 94 comprises two branches 97 and 98 carrying the shaft 99 fixed to the tool-holder table 6 and intended to move the latter transversely with respect to the frame 1; the shaft 99 is rotatably stationary and carries between the branches 97 and 98 of the slide 94 a toothed wheel 100, the hub of which is threaded and is in engagement with a corresponding thread 101 of the shaft 99; this wheel 100 is furthermore engaged with the wheel 63 which the control shaft 60 carries.
The shaft 99 of the table 6 carries, freely mounted a toothed wheel 102 provided with a beat 103 intended to move against the action of a spring 104 (FIG. 6) a tenon 105 which is carried by the branch 98 of the slide 94; this tenon 105 is intended to come into engagement in a corresponding orifice 106 of the wheel 100 so as to immobilize or lock the latter and consequently the shaft 99 and the table 6; the wheel 102 engages with the toothed wheel 65 keyed to the shaft 60.
The countersink 64 which the hub of the wheel 63 has allows the latter to remain stationary at the start of the rotation of the shafts 57 and 60, during which the wheel 65 starts actuating the idler wheel 102 and consequently the beat 103 which releases the tenon 105 then releasing, under the action of the spring 104, the toothed wheel 100.
The automatic lathe shown is used as follows: The motor, not shown, rotates in one direction or the other axis 8 depending on whether the member 10 is engaged with the wheel 9 or with the wheel 11; this axis 8 via the wheels 13 and 14 actuates on the one hand the lead screw 32 and, on the other hand, the splined spindle 21 and the spindle 26 of the tailstock 4; the lead screw 32 by the intermediary of the nut 34 moves longitudinally, the plate 3 for example in the direction of the arrow 107, in front of the tool-holder table 6 which is immobilized;
shortly before the end of the pass, in a position which can be adjusted using the corresponding stopper 35, the latter comes into contact with the lever 37 which, pivoting on its axis of attachment to the flange 43, makes the neck smooth the rod 38 in the opposite direction of the arrow 107, which ensures the displacement of the toothed sector 47 actuating the wheel 48 so as to bring the keyed member 53 into engagement with the corresponding member 54 which is then dragged rotatably by the lead screw 32; the wheel 55 of the member 54, through the wheel 56, actuates the shaft 57 and through the latter the shaft 60;
the wheel 65 of the latter ensures, by means of the wheel 102, the unlocking of the wheel 100 and of the shaft 99 of the tool-holder table 6, this wheel 100 is then driven rotatably by the wheel 63 so as to reverse , thanks to its threaded hub, the shaft 99 and the tool-holder table 6 so as to release the workpiece; simultaneously the shaft 60, by means of the shaft 70 of the disc 71 of the slider 74 and of the lever 76, controls the rotation of the wheel 78 by a determined quantity;
this wheel 78 in turn actuates, through the intermediary of the shaft 77, the axis 86 and the corresponding wheels, the axis 91 whose thread 92 moves the slide 94 and, consequently, the shaft 99 and the table 6 towards the workpiece of a length representing the thickness of material which will be removed by the tool on the following pass: due to the shape of the groove 50 of the wheel 48, the same movement rotary of the latter which ensures the engagement of the member 53 also ensures the triggering of the latter and the stopping of Par- ber 57;
the rod 38 in its movement in the reverse direction of the arrow 107, also actuates the arm 41 and the coupling member 10 which, at the end of the planned pass reverses the direction of travel of the axis 8 and by consequent of lead screw 32 and table 3; shortly before the end of the empty recoil of the table 3, the stopper 35 moves the lever 36 and through it the rod 38 which, on the one hand, using the toothed sector 47 and the wheel 48 will engage the 'member 53, whose direction of rotation is opposite, the same as that of the wheels 63 and 65;
the wheel 63 then moves the wheel 100 and, consequently, the shaft 99 and the table 6 forward towards the workpiece by an amount equal to that from which it has just moved back and the wheel 65 drives the idler wheel 102 , so as to bring the beat 103 opposite the tenon 105; the same rotary movement of the wheel 48 ensures the engagement and then the release of the member 53;
on the other hand, the rod 38 moves the member 10 of the spout, which results in changing the direction of rotation of the lead screw 32. La; rotation of the member 53 corresponding to the backward movement of the table 3, that is to say in the opposite direction to the arrow 107, does not produce any action on the wheel 78, the pawls of which are arranged for this purpose, and the shaft 91 remains stationary.
- A flywheel 108 engaged with the toothed wheel 78 is rotatably mounted on the corresponding wall of the chamber 2 and allows the shaft 77 to be moved manually and, consequently, the shaft 91 and the table 6.
The lathe shown can be used to right-hand and left-hand threads internally and externally of a workpiece and to grind exterior threads.
