Additional patent to main patent No. 306378. Process for the production of a new disazo dye. The invention relates to a method for producing a new disazo dye.
This new dye is obtained according to the invention in such a way that 1 mole of tetrazotized adipic acid bis - (4 - amino - N-ss-phenox yäthylanilid) with 2 moles of 1- (2 ', 4'-dichloro-5'-sulfo - phenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone couples.
The adipic acid bis (4-amino-N-ss-phenoxy- ä.thylanilid) is a new compound with a melting point of 158-159 C, which is obtained by reacting 4-nitro-N-ss-phenoxyethylaniline with adipic acid chloride in dry toluene, whereby adipic acid-bis- (4-nitro-N-ss-phenoxyethylanilide is formed, the nitro group of which is reduced to an amino group by means of iron and hydrochloric acid in ethanol or in aqueous butanol).
4-Nitro-N-ß-phenoxy- äthylanilin can be obtained by reacting p-nitroaniline and ß-phenoxyethyl bromide in the presence of an acid-binding agent. will. SS-Phenoxyäthylbromid can be obtained by reacting phenol and ethylene dibromide.
In the following example the parts are given by weight. Example: 56.6 parts of adipic acid-bis- (4-amino-N-ss-phenoxyethylanilide) are dissolved in 700 parts of water, and the solution is treated with 50 parts of 3611% aqueous hydrochloric acid. A solution of 13.8 parts of sodium nitrite in 100 parts of water is added to the resulting solution at 15-20 ° C.
The solution obtained in this way is then in the course of about 10 minutes into a stirred solution, at a temperature of 10-1.5 ° C., of 69 parts of the sodium salt of 1- (2 ', 4'-dich, 1or-5'-sulfophenyl ) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolones in 1000 parts. Water, which also contains 54 parts of sodium acetate, entered. It is stirred until the coupling has ended. The mixture is then filtered and the residue consisting of the new dye is dried at 60 ° C.
The new dye is a yellow powder, which looks in warm water to form a greenish-yellow colored solution and in conc. Sulfuric acid to form a greenish yellow colored solution. This dye dyes wool from a dye bath containing 211 / o ammonium acetate in greenish-yellow shades. The dyeings have very good fastness to repeated washing, tumbling, sweat and light. The dye is very well absorbed when applied from a neutral dye bath using the method described in British Patent No. 645594.
