Lubricant burette. The present invention relates to a lubricant burette, in particular for pressurized lubrication of mechanical parts in movement by means of consistent grease, comprising a cylindrical lubricant reservoir having a double bottom forming a piston under the action of a spring, tending to move it away (bed melts and compressing the lubricant in the upper part of this reservoir which communicates with a delivery chamber communicating in turn, on the one hand, with a duct discharge valve controlled by a spring-loaded retaining valve and, on the other hand,
with the cylinder of reduced diameter of a pump which can be operated manually from the outside and intended to supply the lubricant with the additional pressure necessary to overcome the resistance of the check valve. This burette is characterized, according to the invention, in that it is formed of two parts screwing one on the other, namely a lower cylindrical tank containing the double spring bottom, and a single-piece upper body comprising the upper part of the lubricant reservoir, the discharge chamber, the cylinder of the hand pump, a discharge pipe, a handle connected to this cylinder and shaped (the way that the operator can operate the pump with the thumb of the hand holding the handle,
and at least one housing closed by a screw cap for a spare spout intended to be removably attached to the end of the delivery pipe. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the bar which is the subject of the invention and several variant details.

The grease burette shown in the drawing comprises a cylindrical tank 1 made of light metal cast or molded synthetic resin forming the grease tank having at its upper end a threaded sleeve 1a on which is screwed a cylindrical-conical burette head 2 made ( the same material as the tank 1. The bottom 1b of the tank is pierced with a central opening 3.
In the cylindrical vessel 1, a double bottom 4 forming a piston head is mounted in a leaktight manner. This piston head comprises a leather sleeve 5 clamped between a metal support 6 and a metal washer 7 by rivets 8 which may have come from a cast iron part injected with the support 6. Between the washer 7 and the central body of the cuff 5 is inserted a spring steel washer 9 whose edge 9a, serrated and bent upwards, tends to apply, against the wall of the tank 1, the edge of the leather cuff 5. The support 6 axially presents on its lower face a threaded blind hole 6a.
The piston thus formed and the details of which can be seen on a larger scale in FIG. 4a, rests on the upper coil of a coil spring 10 of large diameter, the lower coil of which rests on the bottom of the tank lb.
The burette head 2, made in a single piece of light alloy cast iron or of molded synthetic resin, has, on the one hand, two adjacent pipes 11 and 12 both opening into a discharge chamber 13 communicating via a orifice 14 with the cylindrical-conical space 15 formed above the piston 4 by the upper part of the tank 1 and the lower part of the head 2. The pipe 11, through which the grease is intended to be delivered, has an axis parallel to the axis of the tank 1. This delivery pipe 11 communicates with the delivery chamber 13 by a channel 16 of reduced diameter, the mouth of which forms the conical seat of a ball 17 forming a check valve placed under the action of a coil spring 18 housed in the tube 11.
The external threaded end of the pipe 11 is connected by a screw sleeve 19 with nut sides to a rigid and curved removable delivery tube 20 terminating in a spout 21 screwed onto its threaded end. The tubing 12, the axis of which forms an acute angle with that of the tubing 11, forms the cylinder of reduced diameter of a hand pump, the piston 22 of which has a rod 22a passing through a screw cap 23 with closing nut faces the outer orifice of the tubing 12 and terminating on the outside with an operating button 24. A coil spring 25 turns the rod 22a of the piston 22 and rests, on the one hand, on the bottom a hollow in the plug 24 and, on the other hand, on the bottom of a housing of the plug 23.
The spring 25 tends to push the piston 22 outwards.
The pipe 12 opens, like the pipe 11, into the discharge chamber 13 and the orifice 14, which communicates this discharge chamber 13 with the space 15, is provided in the lower end (the said pipe 12 , so that when the piston 22 is actuated by pressing the button 24, the piston head comes, obstruct the orifice 14 while exerting pressure on the grease locked in the delivery chamber 13. This grease is thus found forced back into the tube 11 against the action of the spring 1 <9 which acts on the ball 17.
The head 2 of the burette is completed by a handle 26 formed in one piece with it and connected to the upper end of the pipe 12 so as to. allow the operator to hold the burette by the handle 26 with two or three fingers of one hand and to actuate with the thumb of the same hand the operating button 24 of the piston 22.
The base of the tubing 1.1. and 12 is flanked by two bosses 27 in which are formed blind cylindrical housings 28 opening outwards, threaded and. iron més by dice screw caps 29. Each hou- ehon 29 has, opposite its knurled head, a threaded axial appendage 30 on which can be screwed a spare nozzle 21, the housings 28 thus serving to store two nozzles spare.
The seal between the head 2 and the tank 1 is ensured by a seal. compressible annular 31. La, fig. 5 shows a key 32 whose end of the rod has a thread 32a of pitch corresponding to that of the tapping of the blind hole 6a made in the center of the support 6 of the piston 4. The rod of the. the key is sized (the way to be able to enter the tank 1 through the central opening 3 of its bottom lb and screw its threaded end 32a into the hole 6a of the support 6 of the piston 4.
A short distance from the thread 32a, the rod of the. key has two diametrically opposed lugs 32b which can only penetrate inside the tank 1 by passing through corresponding notches 3a made in the cylindrical wall of the opening 3. The head of the key 32 has a notch 32c dimensioned and shaped so as to be able to cooperate with the nut faces of the caps 19 and 23 when desired. screw or unscrew these.
The burette is filled using (the key 32, the rod of which is introduced through the opening 3 into the tank 1 by placing the pins 32b in alignment with the notches 3a. The threaded end 32a of the key is screwed into the threaded hole 6a of the support 6 of the piston 4. By pulling the key outwards, the piston 4 is drawn towards the bottom lb of the tank by compressing the coil spring 10. The screw is blocked. piston 4 at the end of its stroke towards the bottom lb of the tank by turning the key a quarter of a turn so that the pins 32b which have come out of the tank are no longer in line with the notches 3a of the opening 3 and drink tent against the outer edge thereof.
It is then sufficient to unscrew head 2 from tank 1, fill the latter entirely with consistent grease or another semi-fluid lubricant, screw head 2 back onto tank 1 and release piston 4 by unscrewing the key. 32. The piston 4 subjected to the action of the spring 10 presses the grease into the space 15 and, through the orifice 14, into the delivery chamber 13 which it fills entirely. However, the ball 17, placed under the action of the spring 18, does not allow the grease to pass into the delivery duct 20. In order to push it back there and eject it through the spout 21, actuate the piston 22 of the compression pump against its return spring 25, by pressing the operating button 24.
The piston 22, by lowering into its cylinder 12, closes the port 14 and exerts on the fat which is there; enclosed in the delivery chamber 13 an additional pressure necessary to overcome the resistance that the spring 18 offers by pressing the ball 17. At the start of use, it is necessary to give a few strokes of the piston to fill with all- the delivery tube to the nozzle 21.
Then, with each stroke of the piston, a small quantity of fat will be ejected, an amount which can be easily dosed with sufficient approximation by means of the dosing device shown in fig. 1, 2, 3 and 10.
In a rib 33 uniting the tubes 11 and 12 is. drilled a hole in which is engaged freely. the threaded end 35b of a rod 35. The smooth head of this rod 35 is pierced with a diametral hole 35a and is fitted in a sleeve 34 also pierced with a diametral hole 34a disposed on one side of the sleeve. rib 33. On the other side of rib 33, the threaded end 35b of rod 35 threads into a clamp nut 36.
A rod 37, one end 37a of which is bent at a right angle., Is fitted into the holes 34a and 35a of the sleeve 34 and the rod 35 and can be locked there, by tightening the nut 36, to the desired height so that its curved end 37a limits the stroke of the piston 22 by stopping the man.noeuvre button 24.
Fig. 4a. shows, on an enlarged scale, the double bottom of the embodiment shown in figs. 1, 2, and 3. La, fig. 4b represents a simplified variant of this organ. The leather cuff 5 is replaced by a washer 47 of synthetic rubber cast on a support 46 of injected light cast iron and anchored by means of tenons 46a which come in one piece with the support 46 and by means of an annular groove 46b provided. in the hub of the support 46.
The flanges die la ron delle 47 do not need to be applied against the wall of the tank 1 by a steel washer 9, as is the case for the leather sleeve 5 of the first embodiment. . Of course, other means of anchoring the washer 47 could be provided, for example a ring of holes drilled in the support 46 and into which the synthetic rubber could be poured.
Fig. 6 shows an alternative embodiment of the delivery tube and of its nozzle. The tube 50, which comprises a long straight part, is made to the tubing 11 by means of a cone 51 fitting into the conical seat of a sleeve 52 screwed into the tubing 11 and on which is screwed a nut of tightening 53 with nut faces or wings. The spout 54 has its orifice lined with a brush 55 intended to spread the ejected grease over large surfaces.
Fig. 7 shows another variant of execution of the delivery tube: the tube 60 is fixed to the pipe 11 by means of a double cone 61 pressed against the conical seat of a sleeve 62 by a clamping nut 63 presenting it also a conical seat. The spout 64 has a rectangular orifice.
Fig. 8 shows an accessory adapted to the tubing 11 in place of the delivery tube 20: it is a supercompressor device intended for filling pressurized lubricators of machines or automobiles. This supercompressor device comprises an intake tube 38 connected by a cone 38a clamped by a nut 39 to the pipe 11. On the opposite end of the tube 38 is screwed by a thread 40 of a nut 41 has a fixed piston 41 of reduced diameter and hollow, integral with the nut 41a; this piston is fitted in a sealed faeon in a cylinder 42 mounted to slide in a tubular body 43 and carrying at its free end a nozzle 44 having a conical orifice, flared outwards.
A coil spring 45 surrounds the hollow piston 41 in the tubular body 43 and tends to move the sliding cylinder 42 away from the nut 41a.
The operation of this supercharger device is as follows: By actuating button 24 of piston 22, grease is passed through the intake tube 38 and, through the bore of the fixed piston 41, into the sliding cylinder 42 ; the spout 44 being pressed against the mouth of the lubricator filling tube, there comes a time when the resistance to the passage of the grease from the spout 44 to the lubricator is too great to be overcome by the pressure exerted on the button 24 .
Holding the burette firmly in your hands, the assembly is then pushed towards the lubricator: the cylinder 42 sinks into the tubular body 43 against the action of the spring 45 and the grease which fills the cylinder and which is retained by the , ball 17 is forced by the high pressure obtained to pass through the lubricator. Up to 10 kg of pressure can be obtained at the outlet of the spout 44. When the cylinder 42 has reached the end of its stroke, the pressure on the burette is released; spring 45 returns the bodies of the supercompressor device in their starting position which is. that shown in fig. 8 and we repeat the operation by first activating the piston \? \? to fill cylinder 42.
The tank 1 could be made of transparent molded material to allow control of its contents. The body ? could. com carry a single boss 27 with housing 28.
