Burette fitted with a pump. This invention relates to a lubricant or liquid burette to be sprayed or injected under pressure provided with a pump and an orientable nozzle consisting of an interchangeable part with a view to being able to mount nozzles of various lengths, which allows the liquid to be sent to different positions and thus lubricate or supply devices or mechanisms located at various locations and at different distances from the container containing the liquid.
This burette comprises a liquid container, a suction and pressure pump which draws the liquid from this container, an adjustable or gane to vary the displacement of this pump, and a replaceable nozzle which can be oriented in various directions and communicates in all its directions. working positions with the pump delivery channel.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical sectional view with lateral development of the pump body showing its three recesses.
Fig. 2 is an elevational view partially sectioned through II-II (Fig. 3) of this pump body showing the liquid flow fitting in a primed manner.
There fig. 3 is an elevational view showing the relative position of the pump body and the liquid container in which it plunges. Fig. 4 is a plan view showing the top of the pump body and the liquid container.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view on a smaller scale showing the whole of the burette, the orientable nozzle being shown in two of the positions it can take.
The burette comprises a receptacle 1 designed to contain the liquid, for example a lubricant, and, advantageously constituted by a tank or a cup of a transparent unbreakable material such as a synthetic resin. This container 1 has at least one flat seat face, thanks to which the bar can be placed on a support surface; it is interchangeable, which makes it possible, depending on the applications envisaged, to employ a container having a greater or lesser capacity.
The container 1 -est closed at its upper part by a cover 2 provided with a central threaded hole 3 in which the thread is screwed co.rre-spondant with a hollow metal part 4 forming the pump body. This part has a collar 5 between which and the cover 2 is clamped a sealing washer 6.
In the part 4 are formed three parallel recesses extending in the vertical direction. A first recess 7 or inlet recess for the liquid receives the latter by an interchangeable tube 8 fitted inside and plunging to the vicinity of the bottom of the receptacle 1. This first recess contains an inlet valve constituted by a ball 9 pushed in linear contact against its tubular seat 10 by a spring 11. This seat 10 is advantageously made of a non-metallic material having very low plasticity and elasticity.
A second recess 12 communicates with the first recess 7 via an opening 13 and contains a piston 14, the rod 15 of which ends at its upper part with a push button with operating button 16 and is subjected to the antagonism of a coil spring 17 wound around it.
The spring 17 rests on a washer 18 surrounding the rod 15 of the piston 14. This rod is surrounded by a second washer 19 resting against a shoulder 20 which adjoins the housing of the piston. Between the washers 18 and 19 is interposed an expandable ring 21 intended to be held by elasticity against the wall of the housing of the pous evening and to prevent the involuntary exit of the piston-pusher assembly. By pulling the push-button strongly enough by its button 16, the piston-push-button assembly is released by overcoming the elastic resistance of the ring. The reinstallation of this assembly is carried out with as much ease by the operation in verse.
A channel 22 communicates the recess 12 and the interior of the container 1 to allow the return by draining of the liquid which can go up along the piston 14 during its reciprocating movements.
The lower end of the recess 12 is closed off by a threaded plug 28 against which a spring 24 bears which pushes a ball 25 against a tubular seat 26. This seat is made of the same material as the seat 10; it is maintained in a sealed manner by fitting into the recess 12. An additional support spring (not shown) is provided to prevent any sliding of this seat 26 in the event of abnormal liquid pressure. The ball 25 forms the discharge valve of the pump: A third recess 27 closed at its lower part by a threaded plug 27a communicates with the second recess 12 via a channel 28.
This third recess communicates at its top by the recessed head 29 of the pump body with the recessed base 30 of a pipe 31 with threaded periphery. On this pipe can be screwed a knurled union nut 32 forming the connection end of a nozzle 33. The latter can have any suitable length and shape; it is an interchangeable organ that is replaced as needed; it ends with a tapered spout 34. In the union nut 3 2 is housed a sealing washer 35. Between the parts 29 and 30 is placed, likewise, a sealing washer 36.
The recessed head 29 of the pump body and the recessed base 30 of the pipe 31 have a male and female fitting and are traversed by a bolt 37 provided at one end with a head 38 and at its other end with a cap nut 39. Sealing washers 40, 41 are provided. The bolt 37 serves as a pivot axis for the base 30 of the pipe 31 relative to the fixed head of the pump body.
The rotation of the base of the pipe around its axis takes place with semi-hard friction so that the nozzle 33 maintains the orientation to which it has been brought according to the needs and the circumstances: In the upper face of the head 29 of the pump body is implanted an easily adjustable member intended to limit the stroke of the button 16 which crowns the. piston rod 15 14.
This member is constituted here by a screw 42. This screw is placed so as to be struck by the top button 16, which automatically limits the height stroke thereof. To vary this stroke, it suffices to tighten or unscrew the screw 42 more or less using a screwdriver which is introduced through a notch 43 of the button 16.
The latter can pivot on itself, so that its notch 43 can easily be brought out of angular coincidence with the stop screw 42.
If, by chance, during operation, the notch 43 is placed vis-à-vis the stop screw 42, the user immediately perceives the presence of the latter on his finger and can thus immediately bring the button 16 in the correct position for which the screw 42 limits its travel well. The bringing into coincidence of the notch 43 and the screw, 42 also makes it possible to temporarily eliminate the stop action.
The operation is as follows: By moving the button 16 back and forth vertically, according to an adjustable stroke determined by the useful length of the stop screw 42, the operator sucks the liquid through the plunger tube 8 and the recess 7 whence this liquid gains the median recess 12 when the piston 14 uncovers the communication orifice 13, and is discharged by this piston 14 into the recess 27 and towards the nozzle 33. It exits through the tapered spout 34 of this nozzle to penetrate, according to the required quantity, into the apparatus or the mechanism to be supplied with liquid.
Even if this mechanism is located in an inaccessible place, it is possible, by employing a nozzle of suitable length and shape, to easily make the liquid arrive there in the quantity determined by the displacement of the pump body, which cylinder is itself depending on the piston stroke.
As can be seen, as soon as the piston 14 has passed through, in descending, the opening 13, it no longer exerts any pressure in the recess 7. In other words, this opening forms an aspiration valve at the end of the stroke. and corrects any failure of the suction valve 9 which can even, if necessary, be omitted without preventing the correct functioning of the burette. The valve 9 forms a safety device both against the deactivation of the suction at rest and against the reflux of the liquid contained in the nozzle 33 in the event that the discharge valve 25 is not perfectly tight.
One and the same body 4 lends itself not only to the adaptation of nozzles 33 of different lengths and shapes, but to the engagement in containers 1 which may have various capacities, for example different lengths for the same diameter. Part 4 is therefore in a way omnibus and susceptible of various uses according to the circumstances and the lubrication methods.
The details of construction can vary without departing from the invention. The same is true of the constituent materials of the elements of this burette and their shapes and dimensions.
