Lubricant burette. The present invention relates to a lubricant burette, intended in particular for lubrication by means of consistent grease of machines, automobiles and in general of moving mechanical parts. The lurette according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a cylindrical lubricant reservoir having a double bottom for mant piston subjected to the action of a spring tending to move it away from the bottom and compressing the lubricant, the part upper of said tank communicating with a discharge chamber communicating in turn, on the one hand, with a discharge duct controlled by a spring-loaded check valve and, on the other hand,
with the reduced diameter bore of a cylinder in which is mounted a piston which can be actuated manually from the outside against a return spring, so that the discharge chamber is supplied with lubricant by the reservoir and that the spring-loaded valve of the delivery duct resists the pressure exerted by the lubricant and only allows the latter to be ejected under the action of additional pressure exerted by the manually-operated piston.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the bar which is the subject of the invention. Fig. 7 is an elevational view of the burette; fig. 2 is an axial vertical section thereof, FIG. 3 is a view in elevation of a key required for loading the burette.
The grease burette shown in the drawing comprises a body 1 of generally cylindrical-eonic shape on the cylindrical sleeve of which is screwed a cylindrical tank 2 whose bottom 2 'is pierced with a central opening 3. In the tank 2 is mounted Sant de Tacon coulis waterproofs a double bottom 4 for mant piston. This piston is composed of a leather board 5 clamped between two metal washers 7 and 6 fixed to each other by rivets 8 and integral with a central support 9 axially having a threaded terminal hole 9a opening in sight glass opening 3 in the bottom of the tank. The piston q thus formed is placed under the action of a coil spring 10 of large diameter resting on the bottom 2a of the tank 2.
The body 1 came in one piece with a head 11 having two adjacent pipes 12 and. 13 outlet. both in a communicating 7.4 discharge chamber. by an orifice 14a with the conical top of the grease reservoir formed together by the body 1 and the top of the tank 2. The pipe 12 communicates with the discharge chamber 14 by a channel 15 of reduced diameter. the clip forms the conical seat of a ball 16 forming a check valve, placed under the action of a coil spring 17 housed in the tube 12.
The external threaded end of said pipe 1.2 is connected by a screw socket 18 to. a. rigid and curved discharge tube 19 terminating in a nozzle 20.
The pipe 13 constitutes a compression cylinder in the reduced diameter bore of which a piston 21 is mounted in a sealed manner, the rod 22 of which passing through a screw cap 23 terminates on the outside with a control button 24. A spring to coil 25 bearing in the bottom of a housing of the stopper 23 and on the button 24 surrounds the outer part of the rod 22 and tends to push the piston 21 outwards.
The orifice 14a communicating the grease reservoir with the delivery chamber. 14 opens into the inner end of the pipe 13 which forms the compression cylinder, so that when the piston 21 is actuated by pressing the control button 24, the head of the piston obstructs the orifice 14a while by acting on the grease which is thus enclosed in the discharge chamber 14. 26 designates a cover which fits the body 1 of the burette and is fixed to it by means of screws 27. The cover 26 is provided with a handle 28 The seal between the body 1 and the tank 2 is ensured by a seal 29.
Fig. 3 shows a key 30, the end of the rod of which has a thread 31 of pitch corresponding to the internal thread 9a of the support S9 of the piston 4. In a longitudinal groove 3 2 of the rod of the wrench is mounted a spring-loaded pawl 33 of the piston. well-known type used to keep umbrellas and parasols open or closed. The shank of the wrench is sized so as to be able to enter the tank 2 through the central opening 3 made in the mower 2a and screw its threaded end 31 into the threaded support 9 (see piston 4.
The burette is filled using the key 30, the rod of which is inserted, by pressing on the pawl. spring 33, through the opening 3 in the tank 2 and is screwed by its threaded end 31 into the threaded hole 9a of the support 9 of the piston 4. By pulling the key outwards, the piston 4 is then attracted towards the bottom 2a of the tank by compressing the coil spring 10. The piston 4 is blocked at the end of its travel towards the bottom of the tank by the pawl 33 which stops against the outer surface of the bottom 2a of the tank . It was then sufficient to unscrew the tank '2 from the body 1, fill it completely, above the double bottom 4, with consistent grease or another semi-fluid lubricant, screw it back onto the body 1 and remove key 30 by unscrewing it.
The double bottom piston 4 abandoned to the action of the coil spring 10 presses the grease into the conical upper part of the body 1 and through the orifice 14a in the delivery chamber hl which it fills. However, the ball 16 placed under the action of the spring 17 does not allow the grease to pass into the delivery duct 12. I) must pass it through and eject it through the tube 19 and the nozzle 20. actuate the compression piston 21 against its return spring 25. The head of the piston 21 by lowering into the bore of the tubing 13 closes the orifice 14a and exerts on the gcaisse contained in the chamber of discharge 14 an additional pressure which alone can overcome the resistance of the spring 17 and move the ball 16.
At the start of use, it is necessary to give a few strokes of the piston to fill the entire delivery pipe with grease up to the nozzle 20. Then, with each stroke of the piston, a small quantity of grease will be ejected. that it is easy to dose with a certain approximation by adjusting the stroke of the control knob 24.
The piston 31 left to itself is returned to the rest position by its return spring 25; releasing the orifice 14a through which a quantity of grease corresponding to that which has been ejected passes from the re, enoir into the chamber 1-1 sound, the constant action of the spring 10 acting on the double shear 1 to which is added piston suction 21.
1. The discharge tube -19 may be replaced with a flexible tube and the nozzle _0 may have a circular or flattened orifice. The return spring '.5 of the piston of eonipi-e ,, ioil 21 could be enclosed in a wing with telescopic tubes which could carry a graduation allowing.
(denies this, to draw with some precision the compression stroke of the piston and, consequently, to measure the quantity of grease ejected with each stroke of the piston.
