Process for the preparation of a yellow monoazo dye. The present patent relates to a process for the preparation of a yellow monoazo dye. The process is characterized in that the diazo compound of anthranilic acid is combined with 1- (2'-methyl-4'-chloro-5-sulfo-phenyl) = 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, the monoazo dye obtained with thionyl chloride in converts the acid chloride and allows this to act on dodecyl alcohol.
The resulting new monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0013
is a yellow-orange powder that dissolves in warm water and in conc. Hydrochloric acid dissolves with a yellow color and dyes wool from neutral to slightly acidic baths in red-sticky yellow tones with very good fulling and seawater fastness.
Example: 13.7 parts of anthranilic acid are diazotized in a known manner and gradually at 0 to a litmus-neutral solution of 30.25 parts 1- (2 = methyl-4'-chloro-5'-sulfo-phenyl) -3-methyl- 5-pyrazolone dripped. The formation of the monoazo dye ends quickly.
The dye is precipitated as the free dye acid by adding 50 parts of 30% strength hydrochloric acid to the dye solution, filtered off and dried. 40.2 parts of this monoazo dye are added to 300 parts of thionyl chloride and converted into the corresponding monoazo dye acid chloride by heating to 40-50 for 48 hours.
After the excess thionyl chloride has been completely distilled off in vacuo, the reaction product is suspended in 160 parts of benzene, mixed with 18.6 parts of dodecyl alcohol and kept at 60-65 for several hours, almost complete dissolution occurs. The .Benzene is distilled off and the resulting monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0042
dissolved in 1000 parts, salted out from the sbdaalkaliscli solution with galium chloride, filtered and dried at 60 in vacuo.
The dye is a yellow-orange powder that dissolves in warm water and in conc. Sulfuric acid dissolves with a yellow color. It dyes wool from neutral to weakly acidic baths in reddish yellow tones with very good fulling, seawater and light fastness.
