Additional patent to main patent No. 304389. Process for the production of a yellow monoazo carbate. The subject of the present patent is a process for the production of a yellow monoazofa dye. The process is characterized in that the diazov compound of anthranilic acid is combined with 1- (2 ', 5'-dichloro-4'-sulfo-phenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone,
the monoazo dye obtained is converted into the acid chloride with thionyl chloride and this is allowed to act on octyl alcohol.
The resulting new monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0016
represents a yellow powder. It dissolves in warm water and in conc. Sulfuric acid with a green-tinged yellow color and dyes wool from neutral to slightly acidic baths in clear, green-tinged yellow shades of excellent wash and milled fastness and very good lightfastness.
Example: 13.7 parts of anthranilic acid are diazotized in a known manner and gradually at 0 to a litmus-neutral solution of 32.3 parts of 1- (2 ', 5'-dichloro-4'- sulfo-phenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone added dropwise. The formation of the monoazo dye ends quickly. The dye is precipitated as the free dye acid by adding 50 parts of 301% hydrochloric acid to the dye solution, filtered off and dried.
The monoazo dye obtained is introduced into 300 parts of thionyl chloride and converted into the corresponding monoazo acid chloride by heating to 40-50 hours for 48 hours. After the excess thionyl chloride has been completely distilled off in vacuo, the reaction product is suspended in 160 parts of benzene, 13 parts of octanol are added and the mixture is kept at 60-65 for several hours, almost complete solution occurring.
The benzene is distilled off and the resulting monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0041
dissolved in 1000 parts of water, salted out of the solution made alkaline with sodium chloride, filtered and dried at 60 in vacuo.
The dye is a yellow powder. It dissolves in warm water and in conc. Sulfuric acid with a greenish yellow color and dyes wool from neutral to weakly acidic baths in clear, greenish yellow shades of excellent wash and milled fastness and very good lightfastness.
