Description

Additional patent to the main patent No. 29433.9. Process for the production of a sulfur dye. The subject of the present patent is a method for the production of a sulfur color. The process is characterized in that 4- (p-oxy-phenylamino) - N-ethyl-diphenylamine sulfur-introducing agents are allowed to act.

The sulfur-introducing agents are advantageously alkali polysulphides which are allowed to act in the presence of a glycol monoalkyl ether at 100-125.

The new sulfur dye obtained is a dark blue, red bronzing powder which dyes vegetable fibers from liquor containing sulfur sodium in pure, greenish blue tones.

Example: In a polysulfide melt consisting of 336 parts of sulfur, 273 parts of sodium sulfur (60%) and 750 parts of ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, 250 parts of a dry leucoindophenol of the following constitution are introduced
EMI0001.0019
and heats the mixture to boiling temperature.

The boiling point of the melt is adjusted to 115 by adding water and is kept under reflux for 40 hours. The mixture is then steam distilled and the dirty yellow-green dye solution, after adding about 100 parts of sodium sulphide 1001h, is filtered. The dye can be acidified in the usual way by acidifying or by ventilation. After drying, it is a dark blue, red bronzing powder, which dyes vegetal fibers from liquor containing sodium sulphide in pure, greenish blue tones.

The fastness properties are excellent, with the chlorine law in particular showing a value that has so far been achieved with blue sulfur dyes:
