Dispositif imprimeur manuel.
Fig. 4 est, un fac-similé d'un ticket.
Manual printing device. The present invention relates to improvements made to receipt printing devices and its object is a manual printing device for printing an inscription on a receipt, characterized in that it comprises at least one printing unit comprising a card holder part. rigidly mounted on a support, a ticket holder tablet articulated on this support and thus being able to tilt to allow printing on the ticket. by means of the character holder and an elastic retainer which prevents any movement of the ticket during a printing operation.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a detail view, in cross section, taken through two printing units, one of which is in its operating position.
End. ? is a perspective view showing the assembly mode of the parts constituting a printing unit.
Fig. 3._ is a partial plan view of the device.
Fig. 4 is, a facsimile of a ticket.
Fia. is a side elevational view of the device shown mounted on the side of a conventional accounting machine.
Fig. 6 is a cross section taken along line 6-6 of fi-. 5. The device is shown here adapted and arranged to be used in combination with a machine itself modified to constitute a device for distributing and printing railway tickets which prints the data shown in FIG. 4, with the exception of the name of the city of destination, which name in the present illustration is Berne, and is carried on the ticket by means of the printing device shown here.
The silhouette of the machine is shown in dotted lines in fig. 5. The printing device comprises a frame, the shape and dimensions of which can be chosen according to the machine which delivers the ticket, so that, placed next to the ticket dispensing machine, the assembly constitutes a block. clean and compact. It is not. Obviously, it is not necessary for the printing device to be placed side by side with the machine in all cases, given that it may be more com mode, in certain cases, to place the printing device in another place than the. ticket vending machine. In this case, the frame can take any other shape and dimension, depending on the space available.
For example, in some railway stations, it may be more convenient to place the cash dispenser against the mistletoe where the traveler makes his purchase, and the printing device against the rear wall of the ticket machine. counter. Such an arrangement would be used in railway stations selling tickets to a very large number of destinations, in which case the number of floors of the printing device would be so large that the space available near the ticket office opening would not be available. would not be enough. In the present application, the printing device comprises only one row of printing groups. The number of rows to be used in a given station depends on the number of destination cities served by the network.
As seen here in fig. 4, the ticket dispensed by the ticket vending machine is intended to retain its place in Pullman and, when it leaves the store, it does not bear the name of the destination. The ticket is withdrawn from the machine and inserted into the correct position in the printing device, where the name of the city of destination is printed. To carry out this printing, the ticket is placed on a shelf on which the appropriate mention appears, as seen in fig. 3.
Once the ticket has been properly seated on the chosen shelf, the shelf is raised by hand and the first movement of the tablet brings the ticket into contact with a retainer consisting of an elastic claw of the tines to prevent the ticket from being pulled out. ticket to move sideways while the printing operation is taking place. As the movement of the tablet continues, the ticket is brought into print contact, after which the tablet is released and the printed ticket is withdrawn for delivery to the customer.
In the form shown in the drawing, the printing gold is. microporous rubber produced according to a known process. The printing parts produced by this process have their pores filled with printing ink, which again is constantly transmitted to the printing surface in an amount suitable for performing clear printing by capillary action. Thanks to the use of such parts, it is not necessary to employ any tape or other inking device, which simplifies construction and operation. of the device.
These printing bodies are. tender and spongy and, therefore, the pressure therein. exerted during the printing operation should be adjusted so as to obtain a clear impression since too much pressure would tend to bring too much ink to the printing surface. The contact pressure of the ticket against the printing unit depends on an element mounted next to this printing unit and which limits the travel of the tablet supporting the ticket on which is being printed.
The printing units are mounted on the frame so as to be able to be assembled there easily and to allow easy classification. Each station printing unit constitutes a set produced independently, which can be brought into position on the frame by sliding. without being permanently attached to it. This is obtained by the arrangement, on the frame, of a gutter intended to receive by sliding extensions of the printing units. By inserting. Simply these extensions in the gutter on the frame, the groups can be brought into position by sliding, one at a time, until a row has been completed.
A blocking piece is then introduced at the top of the row to prevent the accidental displacement of the groups on the frame.
The frame itself is constructed in such a way as to allow it to be made simple and economical. The principle of embodiment consists in giving the different parts such shapes that the parts can be assembled without the need to use any fixing device.
The frame of the printing device comprises two side flanges 10 and 11, the lower ends of which are. turned inward to form the edges l.? and 13, respectively (fig 5 and 6). Two pieces 14, in the form of gutters, arranged one at the front and the other at the rear of the base of the flanges, are provided with flanges 1.5 and 16 inclined towards each other, and are brought by force above the flanges 12 and 13, against which they are held by friction. The gutters 14 extend between the two inner walls of the flanges 10 and 11, as seen in FIG. 6.
The flanges 10 and 11 are in the shape of a triangle, so as to have an inclined face for receiving the printing assemblies, and the inclined edges of the flanges have flanges 17 and 18, respectively, which are turned one by one. towards the other, when the flanges are mounted in the frame of the printing device. The flanges 17 and 18 support a plate 19 (fi-. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6) which goes from the outer wall of the flange 10 to the outer wall of the flange 11 and of which. the length covers that of the inclined faces of the flanges 10 and 11.
Two pieces in the form of gutters 20, located one at the lower end of the inclined face and the other at the upper end of the inclined face of the flanges 10 and 11, are each provided with flanges 21 and 22 inclined towards each other, which are constrained to pass under the edges 17 and 18 and on the plate, so as to hold the latter by friction on the edges 17 and 18.
All the printing units are maintained by the gutters 14 and 20.
The side edges of plate 19 face inwardly to form flanges 25, which are far enough away from the face of plate 19 to allow the edges 21 of the gutters 20 and the supports 26 of a number of printing units. to slide by force. To each support 26 is fixed a first hinge strip 27, which can be fixed, for example, by spot welding. The hinged strip 27 is bent forward, so as to form a shelf 28 on which the printing member 29 is mounted.
This is fixed to an angle bar 30, to which is attached a bar 31 before a rearwardly curved rim 32 to constitute a housing 33 whereby the bar 31 and the printing member 29 are mounted on the tablet. 28. The rim 32 is inclined downwards, so as to provide a friction connection. between the shelf 28 and the bar 31, so that the latter can be mounted on the shelf 28 simply. by forcing it.
The bar 31 is provided with a downwardly oriented arm 34 for receiving and. support a part 35 which has its rear end in the form of [j, as in 36, in order to constitute a groove intended to receive the arm 34. The fold 36 goes by closing, so as to ensure a frictional connection with the arm 34.
When mounted on the arm 34, the lower edge of the fold 36 is on a line slightly above the printing surface 37 of the printing member 29 in order to act on the pressure exerted on the latter. , as described later.
The piece 35 is bent backwards and downwards at an angle so as to form a resilient retaining plate 38 which prevents the ticket from moving during a printing operation, as will be described. see.
The first hinged band 27 carries a loop 40 notched in the usual way to receive the loop of a second hinge band 41 and a hinge pin 42 on which the second loop rotates, while the. first strip 27 of die fixed on the support 26.
On the second hinged strip 41 is. fixed a receipt tablet 62 for tickets, having a side rim 43 facing upwards on each of its edges, this to guide the introduction of the ticket. To facilitate the choice of the suitable printing member 29, each tablet 62 comprises, held by friction, a part 44 in the form of a long narrow channel disposed at the free end of each tablet. A label, bearing a name corresponding to that of the corresponding printing organ, is placed under a window 45 made in each of these parts.
Each printing unit therefore comprises a support 26, a hinge 27-41, a printing member 29 and a shelf 62. These parts are placed in position on the plate 19 of the frame by sliding each support 26 in the space formed by the flanges 25. To properly space the lower group from the bottom of the frame and to support the lower shelf 62, a spacer block 46 (fig. 5) similar in thickness and width to the support 26 is slid into said space, on the support 26, far enough to come into contact with the upper end of the rim 21 of the gutter 20. The block 46 is curved forward to form an edge 47 on which the lower table 62 normally rests.
As each successive printing group is slidably brought into position on the plate 19, the lower end of its support 26 is stopped by the upper end of the next support 26. In this way, the frame can be completely filled and any number of groups can be introduced into the frame up to the limit of its capacity. Once the last group is in place on the plate 19, a fur 48 or stopper is inserted on the plate 19, then is bent forward. to constitute a top 49. The assembly is then locked in position by the upper part of the gutter 20.
In the normal or inactive position of the shelves 62, the lower face of each of them rests on the upper face of the immediately lower ticket retainer, as can be seen clearly in fi-. 1.
The classic 50 machine that transmits. tickets (fig. 5) issues a ticket 51 (fig. 4). bearing all the data indicated here, with the exception of the reference 52 representing the station of destination. The ticket issuing station is represented by the reference 53 and the machine 50 is provided with a cliché suitable for printing the desired text. Once the ticket has been issued by the machine 50, the operator positions the ticket on the carrying shelf. the desired label and the ticket is. put in position the head up.
The edges .I3 of the shelf 62 suitably feed the ticket in the lateral direction, and the hinge loop 40 limits in depth the introduction of the ticket, while aligning it. suitably with respect to the printing element 29. Once the ticket has been placed on the shelf 6 <B> 2 </B>, the operator lifts the latter by tilting it upwards, as well as arrow 54 indicates this (fig. 5). The initial movement of the shelf 62 brings the ticket 51 into contact with the elastic retainer 38, which, as seen in FIG. 1, occurs immediately after the tablet is moved.
Continuation of movement of shelf 62 tenses elastic plate 38 until the ticket engages with tuck 36, at which point plate 38 is tensioned enough to prevent the ticket from slipping onto the shelf, while at the same time the face of the ticket is brought into printing contact with the printing member 29 in order to print the legend thereon, as in this case can be seen on the lower unit of FIG. 1 ..
The printing member 29 is made of a microporous material saturated with ink, and its surface is continuously supplied with ink by capillary action. With this printing element, too much pressure during a printing operation causes smearing and indistinct printing. The pressure which can be exerted on the printing member is limited because the printing surface 37 of the member 29 is located at a suitable distance and in the alignment of the fold 36, the latter limiting the movement of the tablet 62, as indicated above, thus giving a clear impression.
The embodiment shown and described here was designed to facilitate assembly and reclassification. If desired, all of the stranded parts can be made rigid by welding or riveting.
