  <B>Verfahren zur Herstellung eines</B>     Gerbstoffes.            Gegenstand    des Hauptpatentes ist ein Ver  fahren zur Herstellung eines Gerbstoffes  durch     Sulfierung    von     ss-Naphthol    in Gegen  wart von Kolophonium, Umsetzung des Ein  wirkungsgemisches mit einem Gemisch aus  Phenol und     Rohkresol    und Nachbehandlung  mit Formaldehyd bei erhöhter Temperatur.  



       Cregenstand    der vorliegenden Erfindung  ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Gerb  stoffes, das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass  man     ss-Naphthol    in Gegenwart von Kolopho  nium     sulfiert,    das Einwirkungsgemisch mit       Rohphenolöl    umsetzt und mit Formaldehyd  bei erhöhter Temperatur nachbehandelt.  



  Der neue Gerbstoff ist ein dünnflüssiger,  dunkelbrauner Sirup.  



  <I>Beispiel:</I>  In 700 Gewichtsteile 100prozentiger Schwe  felsäure trägt man bei 90 bis 100  720 Ge  wichtsteile     ss-Naphthol    und 120 Gewichtsteile  Kolophonium ein, heizt. 11/2 Stunden auf 125 ,  kühlt auf 90  und gibt bei dieser Tempera-         tur    800 Gewichtsteile     Rohphenolöl    und an  schliessend 600 Gewichtsteile Wasser zu. Nach  Erhitzen auf 95  lässt man unter gutem Rüh  ren langsam 675 Gewichtsteile 30prozentigen  Formaldehyd und 600 Gewichtsteile Wasser  einlaufen. Mit 530 Gewichtsteilen einer     23pro-          zentigen        Ammoniaklösung    wird der Gerbstoff       neutralgestellt    und mit Essigsäure auf einen  geeigneten Säuregrad gebracht.

    



  Der Gerbstoff gerbt gut durch, gibt ein  braunes volles Leder von gutem :Stand und  eignet sich für die     Unterlederherstellung.

  <I> Example: </I> In 700 parts by weight of 100 percent sulfuric acid, at 90 to 100, 720 parts by weight of ss-naphthol and 120 parts by weight of rosin are added, heating. 11/2 hours to 125, cools to 90 and at this temperature adds 800 parts by weight of crude phenol oil and then 600 parts by weight of water. After heating to 95, 675 parts by weight of 30 percent formaldehyde and 600 parts by weight of water are slowly run in with thorough stirring. The tanning agent is neutralized with 530 parts by weight of a 23 percent ammonia solution and brought to a suitable degree of acidity with acetic acid.

    



  The tanning agent tans well, gives a brown full leather of good standing and is suitable for the manufacture of underleather.

PATENTANSPRUCH: Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Gerbstof fes, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man ss-Naph- thol in Gegenwart von Kolophonium sulfiert, das Einwirkungsgemisch mit Rohphenolöl um setzt und mit Formaldehyd bei erhöhter Tem peratur nachbehandelt. Der neue Gerbstoff ist ein dünnflüssiger, dunkelbrauner Sirup.
