Process for the production of a lightfast tanning agent. The subject of the present patent is a process for the production of a light-true tanning agent, characterized in that a dioxydicresylsulfone mixture, which can be produced from raw cresol and containing raw cresol sulfonic acid, is subjected to partial sulfonation and then with a urea formaldehyde condensation product with at least 2 molecules of formaldehyde per 1 molecule of urea condensed in a weakly acidic solution below boiling temperature until a water-soluble condensation product is obtained which,
after adjusting to a weakly acidic reaction, pelt is transformed into white, full leather of very good lightfastness.
Example: The mixture of cresol sulfonic acids and dioxydicresyl sulfones used for the condensation is prepared as follows: 400 parts of raw cresol DAB IV are sulfonated with 400 parts of monohydrate for 1 hour at 105 and then the sulfonation water is in the Distilled off vacuum at 120 to 125. For sulfone formation, at 125 C, after the sulfonation mixture has been completely drained,
200 parts of raw cresol DAB IV are slowly sucked under the surface and the excess raw cresol is distilled off with the water of reaction.
100 parts of the above mixture are heated with 20 parts of monohydrate for 3 hours to 110 to 115 C, after cooling from diluted with 50 parts of water and concentrated with conc. Ammonia is neutralized to such an extent that an amount of the resulting solution corresponding to 100 g of the undiluted mixture is mixed with 67 cm 'n / 1 of sodium hydroxide solution and reacts neutrally on Congo paper.
78 parts of a dimethylolurea solution, which has been prepared by briefly boiling 60 parts of 30% formaldehyde and 18 parts of urea in a weakly alkaline phenolphthalein solution, are gradually added to the solution, which has been neutralized to a weakly acidic reaction. The mixture is stirred for about 24 hours at 60 to 65 ° C until a sample is added to twice the amount of water and remains clear on standing. It is then acidified with 3 parts of ogalic acid, which has been dissolved in? 0 parts of water.
