Washing machine. This invention relates to a washing machine intended mainly for washing household linen, fabrics and similar objects, comprising a rectangular container with vertical walls intended to contain a washing liquid, and a rotary agitator mounted against it. a side wall of this tray, on an axis perpendicular to this wall, and comprising a disc of which: the periphery is. placed around its entire perimeter near this wall.
() n knows machines of this type whose tray has an internal profile, located in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the agitator, of generally rectangular or semi-circular shape.
Tests have. shown that a particularly favorable form of tank was constituted by a tank of generally rectangular shape, at least one of the interior angles of which, located along a lower edge of the tank parallel to the axis of the agitator , is cut.
Fia machine object of the invention is earaeterized in that the tank comprises a bottom presenting. a substantially planar face. per pendicular to the side walls of the tank, and at least one inclined plane face disposed between this face and one of said walls, so as to constitute an angle cut in the internal profile of the tank located in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the agitator.
In some cases, the two lower angles of the pan parallel to the axis of the agitator can be cut, but in general it is. preferable that only one of these angles is cut and that the. direction of rotation of the agitator is chosen such that the point. the lowermost of the agitator disk moves away from this angle as the aotator rotates.
The machine doing bin. the object of the invention may be constituted, for example, by a rectangular tub having an inclined part arranged so as to prevent the washing liquid from getting lodged in the angle which it cuts or simply to prevent the articles to wash to lodge in this. angle, without relying on the liquid to enter it.
According to another embodiment, the tank can be constructed so. that its external form, like its internal form, presents a cut angle.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the washing machine being the object. of the invention.
Figs. 1, 2 and 3 are elevation, side and top views respectively of the machine's tank.
The tank shown is generally rectangular in shape. It is formed by side walls 11 and 12 and by a bottom 13. For manufacturing reasons, the tank is constructed. from three pieces of sheet metal, one strip to. parallel edges folded in the shape of a U and constituting the two walls flet the bottom 13 and two panels each forming one of the side walls 12.
These two panels are. stamped so as to present rounded angles and the edges of these panels are bent at right angles so as to form flanges 14 which are welded to corresponding flanges 14 'of the U-shaped strip. The flanges 14 and 14 'are welded so as to form a tight seal. A frame 15 fits on the upper edges 16 of the different elements as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
One of the side walls 1.2 is stamped so as to present a circular housing 17 in the lower part of the tank. A rotary agitator 18 consisting of a disc provided with radial ribs is mounted in this housing, on an axis perpendicular to the wall 12. The periphery of the ribbed disc constituting the agitator is located all around its periphery near the wall of the mixer. tank and the agitator is driven continuously by a motor not shown, via a pulley 18 'not shown in FIG. 1, but visible in fig. 2 and 3.
One of the angles of the bottom of the tank, arranged parallel to the axis of the agitator between the walls 11 and the bottom 13 is cut as shown in FIG. 1, that is to say that the bottom of the tank has a flat face 19 'substantially perpendicular to the side walls of the tank and a flat face 19 inclined at approximately 45 with respect to the side wall to which it is connected and arranged between the face 19 'and one of the side walls 11. The direction of rotation of the agitator is chosen so that the part la. lower part of the agitator disc moves away from the inclined part 19 of the bottom during the rotation of the agitator.
The inclined face 19 of the bottom 13 of the tank constitutes substantially half of the bottom of the tank and the face 19 'is slightly inclined towards said inclined face 19 as shown in FIG. 1. A drain orifice 20 is provided at the intersection of the two faces 19 and 19 'which constitute the lowest part of the tank. This. orifice is provided on the outside with a flange 21. on which fits a connector 22. A flexible drain pipe 23 is attached to one end of the connector 22 and the other end of said pipe 23 is. normally. maintained above the level of the liquid in the tank by means of a support clamp 24 welded to the side wall 12 of the tank. When the pipe is laid out this way, the liquid cannot.
not escape from the tank, the joints between the flange 21, the connector 22 and the pipe 23 being tight. To empty the tank, it suffices to detach the upper end of the pipe 23 from its support clamp and lower it to a level lower than that of the liquid in the tank by directing the jet. in a suitable container.
A support 25 bolted to the sides of the tank, near the opening of the latter, as shown in the figures, serves to stiffen said tank and constitutes a rim on which a box, for example, can be mounted. Lugs 26 arranged at the base of the tray allow tent to fix the latter on a support.
The inclined face 19 of the bottom of the tank may be provided with ribs or horizontal grooves. Such ribs, of little relief and three in number for example, may be sufficient to oppose a certain resistance to the movement of the laundry not on them and cause, therefore, the rotation of the package of laundry on - itself at the same time as it is moved around the axis of the agitator under the action of the latter. In a variant, these ribs can also be arranged obliquely, for example at 45 on said inclined face.
