Loom. The subject of the invention is a loom comprising an insertion device (the weft and a device (the control of the napkin. It aims above all to achieve a drive mechanism (the whip acting less harshly). and more gently than the known mechanisms. In the usual trades, the insertion of the weft is effected using a leaf spring. When, in an ordinary loom, the leaf spring acts on the whip , the latter is subjected to a shock and to a force when in proportion to the force actually necessary to drive the shuttle across (wire.
The present invention aims to eliminate these drawbacks and the loom which is the subject thereof is characterized in that the insertion device (the weft comprises an oscillating whip to which is directly connected a helical traction resistor, a element actuated periodically to operate the whip, key hubs carried by said element to engage with the whip and move it to the armed position against the action of the spell, key locking means for automatically stopping the whip when it is armed and means carried by said element to release the means (blocking,
when said element has ceased to be in engagement with the whip.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, a partial embodiment of the weaving loom which is the subject of the present invention. Fig. 1 is a side view of a key insertion device for the weft presented by this loom.
Fig. 3 is a front view. Fig. 3 shows a detail, and FIG. 4 is a plan view of one of the shuttle boxes, provided with a device for controlling the shuttle.
A whip 10 pivots on an axis 11 mounted in a support 12 fixed on a bar 13 carried by a frame 14 of the loom. The whip 10 is provided at its upper end with a leather cleat 15 and at its lower end with a plate 16, which constitutes one of the two elements of a mechanism for locking the whip in a position A it is ready. to chase the shuttle through the loom. The other element of the key locking mechanism is a corresponding plate 17, which is fixed to a lever 18, rotatably mounted on the support 12 around an axis 19. A tension spring 20 connects the whip 1.0 to, l 'free end of the lever 18. This spring 20 tends to lift the lever 18 in the. direction of the whip 10 and thereby bring the plate 1.7 into locking contact with the. plate 16.
We will see, in fig. \ 3 that the contact between the two plates takes place only when the upper end of the whip is brought to its extreme position (the right. The lower end of the whip naturally moves to the left and the plate. disengages sufficiently from the plate 17 to allow the latter to rise under the action exerted by the spring 20 on the lever 18, until it abuts against the plate 16. A small compression spring 21 acts as a shock absorber between lever 18 and whip 10.
A support 25, fixed on the bar 13, serves as an anchor for the lower end of a helical tension spring 26, the upper end of which is fixed by means of an adjusting screw 27 to an ear 28 which carries the whip 10. It is by means of this adjusting screw that the tension of the spring 26 can be adjusted. When the spring 26 acts on the whip 10, it pulls the latter from the tensioned position shown in solid lines in FIG. 2 at the position shown in dotted lines.
The mechanism by which the whip 10 is moved to the right and the spring 26 tensioned comprises an elbow lever 30 oscillating about the axis 11, like the whip 10 itself. An arm 31 of the lever 30 is in a position which allows it to come to rest against the lug 28 of the whip 10 by means of an adjusting screw 32 mounted at the end of said arm 31 and making it possible to adjust the contact between this end and the ear 28. A lateral arm 33 of the rocking lever 30 is also provided with an adjustment screw 34 intended to come into contact with the free end of the lever 18 to release the plates 16 and 17 from each other.
When the arm 31 of the lever 30 comes into contact with the lug 28 and pushes the whip 10 to the right around the axis 11 and thus tightens the spring 26, the lateral arm 33, and more particularly the adjustment screw 34 , is released from lever 18. Conversely, when lever 30 rotates in the opposite direction and adjusting screw 34 touches lever 18, the upper end of the rocking lever is released from lug 28 of whip 10, allowing to this last to move to the left under the action of the spring 26, as soon as the blocking plates 16 and 17 have been released from each other. This occurs when the lever 30 turns sufficiently to the left so that the adjusting screw 34 lowers the free end of the pivoting lever 18. The lever 30 is actuated about its axis 11 by a crank mechanism shown in fig. . 1.
This mechanism comprises a link bar 40 connecting a lever of my level 41 to the rocking lever 30. The crank lever 41 is rotatably mounted on an axis 42 and it is provided with a groove 43, in which a button is engaged. crank 44 carried by a crank wheel 45, which is wedged on a shaft 46. The groove 43 has two offset sections including the. function will be described later. The crank wheel 45 is connected by a gear to. a second wheel of my level 50, which actuates by a connecting rod 52 a mechanism 51 for controlling a ship box.
When the wheel 45 turns in the direction of the arrow indicated at. fig. 1, the lever 41 is oscillated around its axis 42 thus causing and. lower the link bar 40 alternately, causing the lever 30 to oscillate around its axis 11.
When there are several whips in a loom, each of the whips is connected to its own crank lever 41. In fig. 1, a second crank lever is shown in dotted lines. When one of the levers of my level actuates the rocking lever 30 to tension the corresponding spring 26, the other crank lever acts in the opposite direction on its rocking lever 30 to release the whip, to which it is linked, quickly to a movement against the shuttle.
The mechanism is synchronized in such a way that, on the side of the loom, the spring 26 is stretched before the spring, which corresponds to it on the other side of the loom, is released, and thus the whip lying du: side of the loom which receives the shuttle, is always ready to return it to the other side, as soon as it enters the shuttle box located on said side where it is received. It is the offset part of the groove 43 which acts on the spring tension mechanism to finish tensioning the spring before the shuttle enters the shuttle box located on the side where one is in the process of tensioning. the spring.
The operation of the insertion device shown and provided on one side of the profession described is as follows. The lever of my level 41 acts on the rocking lever 30, by means of the link bar 40, by rotating this lever 30 around (the axis 11. The adjusting screw 32 of the arm 31 of the rocking lever 30 leans against the lug 38 of the whip 10 and turns the latter to the right. The lug 28 being connected to the spring 26 by means (the adjusting screw 27, this movement of the whip 10 has the effect of tensioning this spring .
The crank lever 41 then moves in the opposite direction and turns the lever 30 counterclockwise, the extension 31 of the rocking lever thus moving away from the lug 28 of the whip 10 and releasing this last which tends to rotate around the axis 11 under the action of the spring 26 tensioned. However, this movement is blocked when the plate 17 comes to be placed behind the plate 16, as shown in FIG. 2. Tan say that the rocking lever 30 continues its downward pivoting movement, its adjustment screw 34 comes into contact with the free end of the lever 18 and causes this lever to pivot around the axis 19, against the axis. spring action 20.
When the lever 18 has moved sufficiently to move the plate 17 away from the plate 16, the whip 10 can pivot freely on the axis 11 under the action of the tensioned spring 26.
The stopper 15 of the whip 10 then strikes a shuttle 60, which is pushed through the loom to the shuttle box on the other side of this loom. This operation being completed, the crank lever 41 reverses its movement again and the lever 30 again pivots upward and to the right, until it touches the lug 28 of the whip 10. The whip being forced to pivot to the right, its lower end moves to release the plate 17. The spring 20 then rotates the lever 18 and, consequently, the plate 17 upwards around the axis 19 to the position shown in solid lines in fig. 2. The plate 17 is then in a position where it blocks the plate 16 of the whip 10 and the cycle described above is repeated.
The described loom also comprises a device for controlling the shuttle, comprising, as seen in FIG. q, a shuttle box in which is mounted a tongue 65 pivoting aritour <l.'rtn axis 66, a leaf spring 67 which normally pushes the tongue 65 against the. shuttle 60, and a locking rod 68, intended for. block the tab 65 in the position for which it stops the boat 60. The rod. 68 is articulated on the lever 30, so that each movement of the raising or lowering of this lever is transmitted to the rod 68.
This locking rod 68 passes through an opening made in the. na vette box and is placed so as to come into contact with the tongue 65. At its upper end, the locking rod 68 is. beveled, so that, when it is lifted by the lever 30, it presses on the tab 65 and forces it to position itself on the path of the shuttle 60 to stop it. When the bottom lever 30 pivots counterclockwise and carries with it the locking rod 68, the latter releases the lan watch 65 and allows. the shuttle to move freely towards the shuttle box located on the other side of the loom under the action exerted on it by the whip. 10.
The locking rod 68 being articulated on the lever 30, a synchronization is obtained between the action of said rod and that of the insertion device described above.
The described trade has several advantages over trades with. known weaving using in particular a spring. at. blade polish control of the weft inserter. Among these advantages are the following: The action of a coil spring on the whip is. smoother and more subdued than that of a spring to. blade, while remaining energetic enough to allow it to strike the shuttle with enough force to chase it across the loom with great speed.
The insertion device described comprises the same crank mechanism for tensioning and releasing the driving spring of each whip, whereas in the known trades a crank mechanism is necessary to tension the spring and a second to release it. . This insertion device therefore comprises fewer parts than the known devices and thus constitutes an appreciable saving.
