Additional patent to the main patent No. 266372. Process for the production of a chromating fiber. It has been found that a valuable chromating dye is obtained by using the monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0006
treated in an aqueous alkaline medium until a 2,5-dichlorobenzoyl residue occurs with the 2,5-dichlorobenzoyl residue-releasing agents.
The new dye dissolves in hot water with an orange color and dyes wool in blue-tinged red tones using the one-bath chroming process.
The monoazo dye of the above formula used as starting material in the present process can be obtained by combining diazotized 1-amino-2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone in an alkaline medium.
Suitable agents which release the 2,5-dichlorobenzoyl radical are, for example, 2,5-dichlorobenzoyl halides, such as 2,5-dichlorobenzoyl bromide or, preferably, 2,5-dichlorobenzoyl chloride. The treatment with these means takes place according to the invention in an aqueous, alkaline medium. It is advisable to use a small excess over the amount theoretically required to introduce a dichlorobenzoyl radical into the dye molecule. The treatment can be carried out at room temperature, for example at about 20 to 300, for example.
To prevent saponification, it is advisable to work up the dichlorobenzoyl compound obtained from a neutral to weakly acidic medium.
Example: 44.6 parts of the dye (monosodium salt) from diazotized 1-amino-2-oxynaphthalin-4-sulfonic acid and 1.-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone are used as moist The paste is stirred with 120 parts of water, 20 parts of crystallized sodium acetate and 8 parts of sodium hydroxide and esterified at 20 to 300 by dropping 40 parts of 2,5-dichlorobenzoyl chloride.
The esterification product gradually precipitates out with a yellow-orange color, is filtered off, washed with dilute sodium chloride solution and dried.
