Additional patent to main patent no. 259822. Process for the production of a chromating dye. It has been found that a valuable cliromination dye is obtained when using the monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0006
treated with benzoylating agents until a benzoyl residue occurs.
The new dye is a red powder that dissolves in hot water with orange, in concentrated sulfuric acid with red color and dyes wool in red shades using the single-bath honing process.
The starting material used in the present process from monoazo dye of the above formula can, for. B. by ver some of diazotized 1-amino-2-oaynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid with 1- (2'-chlorophenyl) - 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone in alkaline, for example sodium carbonate alkallselieni, -.1Iediiim. can be obtained. As benzovating agents come z. B.
Benzoyl halides such as benzoyl bromide or, preferably, benzoyle chloride are suitable. The treatment with the benzoylating agent can temperature, for example, at slightly elevated Tempe and advantageously in anhydrous Me and in the presence of a tertiary base, such as. B. pyridine. In the latter case, the resulting dye can e.g.
B. can be isolated from the reaction mixture by distilling off most of the pyridine, diluting the residue with water, completely precipitating the dye by adding sodium chloride and filtering it off. example:
46 parts of the powdered, well getrockne th dye, which is prepared by combining diazotized 1-amino-2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid with 1- (2'-chlorophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone and after the coupling has been freed from free alkali by washing and acidification, 280 parts are dry. Pyridine dissolved clearly and slowly stirred with 11.2 parts of benzoyle chloride at 40-45. esterified.
The initially clear solution becomes cloudy after some time and the paraffin ester partially precipitates. After stirring for one hour at 40-45, about 220 parts of pyridine are distilled off in vacuo; the residue is stirred for some time with 400 parts of water, 20 parts of sodium chloride are added, the dye is filtered off with suction and dried.
