Additional patent to main patent no. 26637 2 . Process for the production of a chromating dye. It has been found that one arrives at a valuable chromizing dye if one uses the monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0006
in an aqueous alkaline medium until a benzoyl radical occurs. treated benzoylating agents.
The new dye dissolves in hot water with orange and in conc. Sulfuric acid with red color and dyes wool in blue, pungent red tones using the single-bath chrome plating process.
The ibIonoazo dye of the formula mentioned above and used as the starting material in the present process. can be obtained by combining diazotized 1-amino-2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone in an alkaline medium.
Benzoyl halides, such as benzoyl bromide or, preferably, benzoyle chloride, are suitable as benzoylating agents. The treatment with the benzoylating agents is carried out according to the invention in an aqueous, alkaline medium. It is advisable to use a small excess over the amount theoretically required to introduce a benzoyl radical into the dye molecule.
The benzoylation can be carried out, for example, at room temperature, for example at about 20 to 300. To prevent saponification, it is advisable to work up the benzoyl compound obtained from a neutral to slightly acidic medium. Example, 1: 1.8.6 parts of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone earths dissolved in 60 parts of water with the addition of 4.5 parts of sodium hydroxide.
The diazo compound, which is obtained from 23.9 parts of 1-aniino-2-oxynalihthalene-4-sulfonic acid and is separated and filtered off in the form of the sodium salt, is introduced into this solution at tin-ner temperature.
After the coupling has ended, 150 parts of water, 12.5 parts of crystallized sodium acetate and 4.2 parts of sodium hydroxide are added, and the dye is esterified by adding 25 parts of benzyl chloride. The temperature rises by around 15 to 200, and the dye ester turns out to be a finite yellow-orange color. It is filtered off, washed with water or dilute sodium chloride solution and dried.
Example 2: 22.3 parts of the dye (monosodium salt) from diazotized 1-amino-2-oxynaphthalen-4-sulfonic acid and 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone are used as Moist paste is stirred with 30 parts of an 18% aqueous sodium carbonate solution and esterified at 20 to 300 by dropping 11 parts of benzoyl chloride. The esterification product gradually precipitates out with a yellow-orange color.
After dilution with 100 parts of water, it is filtered off, washed with a little water and with 2% sodium chloride solution and dried. It has the same properties as the product obtainable according to the information in Example 1.
