Process for the production of a new copper-containing azo dye. The main patent describes valuable dyes which can be obtained by 1 ':
11o1 of a tet.razo- tierte 4,4 '- diamino - 3,3' - dialkoxy diplienyls in any order with 1 mol of 1-oxynaphthalened-3,6,8-trisitlfonic acid and 1 mol

where R1 1I or -N = N - aryl and R. 1 = I, alkyl,
Aryl or acyl mean, couples and the dyes obtained are treated with copper-releasing agents.
It has now been found that valuable dyes are also obtained if 1 mol of a tetrazotized 4,4'-diamino-3,3'-dialkoxydiphenyl is used in any order with 1 alol of 1-oxynaphthalene-3,5,7-trisul- Fonsäure and 1 mol of a compound of the above general formula coupled and treated the dyes obtained with copper donating agents.
The new copper-containing dyes dye cotton and regenerated cellulose in lively, pale shades with very good light, washing and water fastness. They have excellent drawing power. The present patent relates to a process for the production of a new copper-containing azo dye and is.
characterized in that 1 mol of tetrazotized dianisidine is coupled with 1 1-1o1 of 1-oxynaphthalene-3,5,7-trisulfonic acid and 1 alol of 2-phenylamido-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid and the dye obtained with a copper-releasing agent treated.
Example: 24.4 parts of dianisidine are tetrazotized as usual and combined with 45 parts of sodium 1-oxynaphthalene-3,5,7-trisulfonic acid in the presence of soda, while cooling with ice. After the intermediate compound has formed, a solution of 33.7 parts of 2-phenyl-amido-? - Oxynaphthalene - 7 - Sodium sulphonic acid is added and the mixture is stirred until the dye has formed. Then the resulting disazo dye is salted out and filtered.
It dissolves in water with a blue color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue-green color. It dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose in lively blue tones, the lightfastness of which is greatly improved by post-treatment with copper sulfate.
The disazo dye is dissolved in 2000 parts of water with the addition of 20 parts of soda. At 80 to 90 ° C., 500 parts of a copper oxide ammonia solution containing 50 parts of crystallized copper sulfate and 85 parts of concentrated aqueous ammonia solution are gradually added with stirring. It is stirred for 5 hours at 80 to 90 C and then it heats to boil in one hour. Then it is refluxed for 15 hours. The resulting copper complex is salted out, filtered and dried.
It is a dark powder that dissolves in water with a blue color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a greenish blue color. It dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose in lively, blue tones with very good light, washing and water fastness.
When converting the metal-free disazo dye into the complex copper compound, the conditions given above can be modified within wide limits.
