Furniture that can be used at as you want as a sofa or as a bed. The present invention relates to a piece of furniture that can be transformed so to can be used at will as a sofa or as a bed.
The piece of furniture according to the present invention comprises a rectangular frame, two opposite sides of which are divided into three parts each, that is to say two long parts adjacent to the corners and an intermediate central link connecting them by means of joints allowing to keeping the aforementioned parts in alignment when the assembly serves as a bed and folding down the frame element formed by two opposing long parts and the side - which joins them over the frame element - formed by the other two parts lon opposite sides and the side which joins them, to a distance from this one determined by the length of the bi ellettes, when the whole is used as a sofa.
rie appended drawing represents an embodiment of the object of the invention, given to by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the furniture deployed as a bed, to two-seater, and the mattresses forming part thereof. The fi-. 2 is a perspective view of the CI piece of furniture folded into a sofa, without bedding.
Figs. 3 to to show in detail the position of the articulations of the long parts -and of the rods in the -case of the unfolded unit (? Yé, being folded down and to </ B > the folded state.
Fig. 6 is a cross section of the cabinet folded up to serve as a van and shows in particular the position of a pedal intended to to facilitate its deployment, as well as the space occupied by the bedding.
The cabinet shown in Figs. 1 and 2 com carries a rectangular metal frame of which to the deployed state, the long sides, knows that located in front of the drawing at the fig. 1 and its symmetrical, located behind and parallel to the first, this, compose cliacun of three parts: two long parts 1 and 2 adjacent to the angles - </ B> and an intermediate link 3., linking the other two parts to each other by means of joints 4 and 5.
In the example shown, two opposite long parts form with the short side of the rectangle connecting them to one another a U, frame element, of which FIG. 2 clearly shows the one formed, by focusing by the long part 2 and backwards by the opposite long part 6, rigidly connected to each other by the small side 7. We is thus in front of two elements in U of the same size el. which, in the deployed position of the 1, are located in the same plane and opposed by their branches including the links 3 and 8 (see also fig. 2) connect the free ends together by means of joints such as 4 and 5 in front of the drawing,
or their symmetries which will be discussed in the description of the detailed operating figures.
The U element composed of the symmetrical parts of 2, 6 and 7 is imprisoned in a wooden frame composed of two half-sides 9 and 10, a headboard 11 and a lower cross member 12-, while in element 2, 6, 7 is connected to a footboard 13, also made of wood, forming at the same time a support or actual foot for said element to l ' deployed state (fig. 1).
Fig. 1 allows to realize without further the constitution of the bed which, in the drawn position, includes from left to right or from head to toe: a wooden frame forming headboard -and surrounding a U frame element to which is opposed a second frame element in U ending in a foot of bed also in wood.
The rectangular frame formed -of 616- U -shaped elements and rods is stretched with a metal base, made up in particular of springs, wires and chains in sufficient number to elastically support the ma telas, at the number three, designated by 14, there and 16, extending across the bed and - one of which there is in two parts interconnected by the seam 17.
Fig. 3 shows, in more detail, the long part 18, and the link 8 connecting it to the long part 6 opposite to part 2, as well as the corresponding joints 19 and 20. We y see ô 'also, and in cross section, the small side 7' opposite to 7, as well as the half-side 10 of the wooden frame and the Il. headboard
This figure makes it possible to realize that all the metal parts of the frame are in to T irons and that the long part 18 includes, before the articulation 19, a foot 21, connected to a similar foot of its symmetry by a cross member 22 resting on the ground and to which is also fixed the ', wooden cross member 12 visible at the f4Y. 2.
The web of the to T irons constituting parts 18 and 6 is extended, as can be seen, around the pivots 19 < / B> and 20, which it surrounds, from above, on about a quarter of a circle in 23 and 24.
These extensions-act as stops and here's how: When you fold part 6 over part 18 to transform the bed into a sofa, it naturally occurs to first a rotation of part 6, around the articulation -) 0 of the connecting rod 8. But when Cracked frame comprising the part 6 stands vertically, the stop 24 meets the web 2à of the bi # ellette 8 (position of fig. 4),
this prevents any rotation from occurring beyond the position at right angles of 8 and 6. The drawdown must be obligatory continue around the joint 19, to end in the position emerging from, fig. 5, in which the part 6 is arranged parallel above the part 18, both in a horizontal direction, while the link < B> 8 is held vertical by the stops 2,3 and 24 and determines the distance between the two parts considered.
In this state of the furniture, that is to say folded back into a sofa, the footboard 13 # is placed directly in front of the headboard It and fits into the notches 26 reserved between the said head of the bed and the half-sides 9 and 10. All this is clear from figs. 1 The fic. 2 also allows to realize how the wires, springs and chains - constituting the metal base and stretched in the frame in the deployed state, are placed in the folded state.
An interior flat frame 2-7, stretched by the springs 28 to, inside the opposite upper U element to the one which is normally embedded in the woodwork of the headboard, forms the suspension of the of the sofa seat, tan say that, the threads, springs and chains forming the remaining network are relax and hang freely below, 2-9.
In order to reinforce the front end of the sofa seat and to ensure an impeccable line, a thread 30, stretched by two spells 31, is stretched around joints 5 and 20 inside the loop formed by the relaxed part of the bed base.
Its position is also shown in fig. 3 to, 5. A the deployed state, it is placed under the plane of the metal base that it is still used to to support in its environment. A, secc> nd similar wire 3,2 is stretched around joints 4 and 19 ', directly over the metal base and serves as a reinforcement. -Gement symmetrical than the previous one.
The rods articulated to the two U 616- links cannot of themselves. maintain themselves in a horizontal position in the deployed state, they have been added feet that we see in 38 and 34 to fig. 2, at 34 in fig. 3 to 5, and -that connect transverse bars H, at the same time increasing the rigidity of the assembly in this direction,
- that is to say, preventing the rods from forcing their articulations under the action of the tension of the bed base and the loads supported by the latter, by deforming the U element made up of by bars & 2, 6 and 7. These feet are articulated to the levers 37, 38, which are linked to the fixed parts 21 and which oblige them to come and rest calmly; on the ground, in front of the wooden cross member 12, to The state deployed.
All #s organs are erased in the profile of the sofa in the folded state (see fig. 5). We also see that springs are provided, tensioning to lift said components and thereby facilitating the folding when going from bed to van.
Two accessories facilitate the deployment of the sofa into a bed.
First there is there the, -sangle 30, visible at in fig. 2, which, fixed to Frame element 2, 6, 7, allows this to be drawn to, oneself without difficulty, but to overcome the starting neutral position, there is also a visible pedal. in section of in fig. 6 and appearing at 40 to in fig. 2, underneath the metallic mirrors 36.
In the section of fig. 6, this pedal 40, in the form of an inverted gutter, pivots at 41 on the web of a to T iron connecting the crossbar 22 to the side 7 ' and resting on the ground, in 42.
A its free rear end, -this pedal is articulated at 43 to a 4-4 pusher, sliding along the vertical portion of iron 42 and abutting under the foot 13 # folded down bed, which therefore rests on this pusher.
It is clear that by pressing the pedal with your foot, so to make it rotate clockwise with respect to to the - section of fig. 6, one causes the elevation of the pous evening in the direction of the arrow 45 and at the same time the displacement above the Ilorizontal, of the element 2, 6 , 8 of the -frame, which then suffices to pull to oneself by means of the strap 39 (see fî-. 2), -to pass from the Zn sofa to the bed.
The passage -from the anterior part to the posterior part of the lever 40 is made by division into two branches forming a fork, surrounding the verfical part of the iron 42 and maintaining the articulation 43 of the pusher 44 by its two ends.
Fig. 6 finally shows How the bedding can be stored in and on the sofa, without requiring a particular place for it.
The mattress 14 remains in place and the mattress 16 rests on it, the two lowering during folding by; following the relaxation of the metal base which hangs at 29. </ B >
The mattress 15, folded along its seam 17, rests on the couch, behind, where it forms a padded backrest.
The remaining free space -between the mattresses 14 and 16 and the metal box spring finally receives, at 46, the sheets, blankets, eiderdowns, eyes, etc. rolled so to fill this space, moreover sufficient to re # - see these objects, The embodiment described. represents a very practical and aesthetic transformable piece of furniture which, both as a bed and as a sofa, adapts well to the desired use, without having to to. suffer in what way be it, in convenience or form, of being transformable.
