Apparatus for transfusion of blood.
The object of the. The present invention is an apparatus for transfusion of blood, characterized in that it comprises a piston pump, the cylinder of which is provided with a removable rotary plug valve capable of communicating the bore of the cylinder with at least two conduits , one for suction, the other for delivery, the piston being provided with a channel formed by a valve and intended to remove air from the pump after suction and before delivery.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view with parts in section of the apparatus mounted on its support.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the apparatus dismantled and placed in its housing, the cover thereof being removed.
Fig. 3 is a side elevational view of the apparatus dismantled and placed in its housing, the latter being shown in section.
Fig. 4 is an elevational view, perpendicular to FIG. 3, of the device disassembled and placed in its case, this. last being shown in section, and
fig. 5 is a sectional view taken along the line V- = V of FIG. 1.
The apparatus shown comprises a pump 6, the cylindrical body 7 of which is provided, at its lower end, with a removable valve 8 with a rotary valve 9. The channel 11 of the valve 9, the end of which is bent at right angles, allows to cause the bore of the cylinder 7 to communicate with one or the other of three radial nozzles 12. One of these nozzles 12 can be connected by a flexible tube to the needle intended for taking blood from the donor; another nozzle 12 can be connected to a container containing a solution intended to be mixed with the blood, for example an anbicoagulant solution; the third nozzle 12 can be connected to the needle intended for the injection.
The valve 9, which can be turned using a lever 13, is guided in the body 8 of the valve by a pin 14 engaged in a corresponding groove provided in the bottom of the seat of the valve. The plug and its seat are frustoconical and the friction of one on the other can be adjusted using a nut 15 screwed onto a threaded rod 10 integral with the plug.
The piston 16 has an axial channel 17 passing through its head and its rod from one end to the other and emerging at the end of the head, in a cylindrical chamber 18, the edges of which serve as a seat for a valve 19 that rod 20 passing through channel 17 connects to a pusher 21; a coil spring 22 acting, on the one hand, on the pusher 21, on the other hand, on the piston rod, tends to keep the valve 19 pressed on its seat in the closed position. The purpose of the valve 19 is to allow, after the aspiration of the blood and the possible aspiration of the anticoagulant solution, to eliminate the air which may be contained in the cylinder, in front of the head of the piston, before perform the injection.
It suffices for this to place the pump in a vertical position and to exert a slight pressure on the piston by means of the pusher 21.
The apparatus shown makes it possible very simply to support the pump in a vertical position. The support is in fact constituted by a sleeve 23 fixed in the bottom 24 ′ of the housing 24 serving to contain the dismantled pump; the removable valve has, at its lower end, a cylindrical extension 25 which engages in the sleeve 23, the housing 24 being turned upside down; a tightening screw 26 makes it possible to fix the pump in its support.
The apparatus also comprises, as an accessory, a support 27 which is planted in a socket 27a and intended to support a container of anticoagulant or other solution. Inside the housing are arranged elastic claws 28 mounted on a false bottom 28a and intended to hold the various parts of the dismantled pump: on one side the cylinder 6, on the other side the piston 16 with the nut bayon lock
