Portable oxygenation device
The pace of modern life and the increasingly stale atmosphere of urban centers tend to give increased importance to the treatment by oxygenation prescribed in general to physically deficient, tired, overworked, intoxicated, or injured subjects and even to athletes concerned about achieve a good performance.
However, known oxygenation devices used for this purpose in hospitals, clinics, and various relaxation centers are expensive, heavy and bulky at the same time.
The present invention relates to a portable oxygenation device, characterized in that it comprises a case serving as a housing for at least one removable oxygen cylinder on which is removably mounted a valve shutter, a regulator, a bubbling vessel and an oxygen distribution mask.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view thereof, the case being open, the oxygen bottles being in the storage position.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view thereof, the case being open, the oxygen bottles being in the position of use.
Fig. 3 is a sectional elevation view of the valve shutter.
Fig. 4 is a partial sectional elevation view of the valve plug and the pressure reducer.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view of a construction detail.
The apparatus shown comprises a case 11 in which are housed two oxygen bottles 1 and 1 '; the bottle 1 is equipped with a valve shutter 2 and a pressure reducer 3; the latter is connected by a flexible pipe 4 to a dip tube 5 fixed to the stopper 6 of a bubbling flask 7 filled to a quarter of its volume with water in which pine extract for example can be incorporated optionally; the bottle 7 in turn is connected by a flexible pipe 8 to a hood or mask 9 made for example of transparent flexible plastic material for the distribution of oxygen.
If we now refer to fig. 2 and 3 of the drawing, the oxygen cylinder 1 of reduced size and weight containing, for example, a sufficient oxygen charge for a single oxygenation treatment session, is threaded at its neck 1a to receive the shutter valve 2; the latter is composed of a body 21 inside which moves a sliding valve 22 provided with an elastic gasket 23 to cooperate with a seat 24 integral with said body 21, under the action of a push rod of guide and control 25 at the end of which is screwed said valve. This valve is securely mounted so as to come to rest on its seat in the direction of oxygen flow.
The body of the shutter is threaded in its part 26 which covers the neck of the oxygen cylinder, while the outer wall of said body has a threaded middle zone 27 intended to receive a screw cap 10 during storage. from the bottle. The smooth wall portion 28 adjacent to the threaded zone 27 is provided with a circular groove 29 in which is housed an O-ring 30 intended to ensure the sealing of the closure of the capsule 10.
On this shutter 2 is mounted an expander of known type 3; the latter comprises according to the invention a base 31 extended along a skirt 32, the lower portion 33 of which is threaded so as to be able to be screwed onto the threaded zone 27 of the outer wall of the shutter, while the smooth, adjacent portion 34 may come rub against the O-ring 30. The base 31 is further provided with an annular projection or control pin 35 which engages the push rod 25 to open the valve 22, when the regulator 3 is screwed on the shutter 2. The annular projection 35 is provided with a radial slot 36 of small section to slow the passage of oxygen from the shutter 2 into the expander 3, a filter 37 also being provided at the inlet of the latter.
The assembly of the oxygenation apparatus according to the invention is carried out as follows:
The oxygen cylinder 1 being maintained in the standing position shown in FIG. 2, the stopper 10 mounted on the valve shutter 2 is unscrewed and the regulator 3 is connected to said shutter, taking care to first connect this regulator to the bubbling bottle 7 itself connected to the distribution hood 9. For this purpose, the regulator being fitted onto the shutter, the bottle 1 is rotated in the direction of screwing until the annular projection 35 comes into contact with the pusher 25 of the valve 22 to push the latter into the direction of the opening.
The oxygen contained in the bottle 1 escapes from the latter and flows successively through the shutter 2, the regulator 3, the pipe 4, the plunger tube 5 and becomes humid by bubbling in the water contained in the bottle 7 then arrives through the pipe 8 in the distribution hood 9.
This hood is placed on the patient's head in order to direct the oxygen. on his face. The air enters this hood through two openings 9a made at the rear of said hood and mixes with the oxygen coming from the oxygenation device to form a rich mixture. The exhaled air is evacuated through the outlet holes 9b made in the upper part of this hood.
Bottle 1 'is used during the refilling of bottle 1.
The two bottles 1 and 1 'are held in hemispherical housings 1 la in which the bottoms of the bottles fit together and in notches 11b to receive the shutters. The bottles are thus perfectly wedged in the case 11.
A housing 12 is arranged in the case and has an opening 1 2a of a diameter slightly greater than that of the bottles for mounting the bottle in service. Finally, another open housing 13, on the one hand, on the side to house the bottle 7 and, on the other hand, on the top for the assembly in service of this same bottle.
A wedging device is also provided for the regulator 3, the base of which is fitted into a housing llc of suitable diameter, the other end being held by two metal clamps 14.
A wedge 15 is fixed inside the lid of the case to immobilize the bottles when the case is closed. The pipe 8 and the hood 9 are placed over the assembly without hindering the closing of the cover.
