Man erhält etwa 30 Gewichtsteile Farbstoff in kristalliner Form.
Additional patent to the main patent No. 229841. Process for the production of the leuco-sulfuric acid ester of a vat dye. The subject of the present additional patent is a process for the production of the leuco-sulfuric acid ester of a vat dye, which is characterized in that the dye, as can be obtained by condensation of indoxyl with 4,5-dichloroacenaphthenquinone,
by treatment with a reducing agent and an esterifying agent which provides sulfur trioxide in the presence of a tertiary base in the leuco sulfuric acid ester.
The production of the leucosulfuric acid ester can, for. B. by treating the dye in the presence of a tertiary base, such as pyridine or dimethylaniline and an esterifying agent which provides sulfur trioxide, for example chlorosulfonic acid, methyl or ethyl chlorosulfonate, sodium chlorosulfonate or oleum, with metals,
for example with iron or copper. You can also first prepare the leuco compound of the vat dye by catalytic reduction and then esterify this with sulfur trioxide or a sulfur trioxide-yielding compound in the presence of a tertiary base.
Example: 20 parts by weight of chlorosulphonic acid are added dropwise to 100 parts by weight of dried pyridine at about 5 ° C. while stirring. With continued cooling, a mixture of 10 parts by weight of the dye, as obtainable by condensation of indoxyl with 4,5-dichloroacenaphthenquinone, and 7 parts by weight of copper powder is quickly entered. After removing the ice cooling, the temperature is allowed to rise gradually to room temperature and then increases to about 40 C.
The mixture is stirred at this temperature for 2 to 3 hours. After this time has elapsed, a solution is present that is only clouded by excess copper. This is poured into 500 parts by weight of ice water and allowed to settle for some time. By . When pouring off, the bulk of the pyridine and acid is separated off. The semi-solid residue is taken up with 500 parts by weight of 5% sodium hydroxide solution and the solution is subjected to vacuum distillation. At 20 mm and 60 mm, the remaining pyridine is driven off in about 1 hour. The pyridine-free alkali solution is diluted to 2000 parts by weight and clarified.
The potassium salt of the leuco sulfuric acid ester is salted out from the solution by adding potassium chloride. It is colored Bordeaux red. The new leuco-sulfuric acid ester provides smooth, strong, bordeaux-red print with very good fastness properties on cotton, rayon and rayon rayon.
The starting dye can be obtained in the following way: 100 parts by weight of a 20% strength In doxylschmelze are dissolved under Koh lendioxyd in 1000 parts by weight of glacial acetic acid and condensed with 38 parts by weight of 4,5-dichloroacenaphthenchinone under carbon dioxide. About 30 parts by weight of dye are obtained in crystalline form.
The crystals, which are very difficult to dissolve in almost all common solvents, are obtained, recrystallized from pvridine or chlorobenzene, in corinth-colored long needles that melt around 320. The solution color in conc. Sulfuric acid is green-yellow.
