Man erhält etwa 40 Ge wichtsteile Farbstoff in kristalliner Form.
Addition to main patent no. 2219841. Process for the preparation of the leultosulfuric acid ester of a vat dye. The subject of the present additional patent is a process for the preparation of the leuco-sulfuric acid ester of a vat dye, which is characterized in that the dye, as it is obtainable by condensation of 6-chloro-a-oxythionaphthen with 4,5-dichloroacenaphthenquinone,
converted into the leuco-sulfuric acid ester by treatment with a reducing agent and an esterifying agent which yields sulfur trioxide in the presence of a tertiary base.
The preparation of the leucosulfuric acid ester can, for example, by treating the dye in the presence of a tertiary base, such as pyridine or dimethylaniline, and an esterifying agent which supplies sulfur trioxide, for example chlorosulfonic acid, methyl or ethyl chlorosulfonate, sodium or chlorosulfonate Oleum, with metals,
for example with iron or copper. You can also first prepare the leuco compound of the vat dye by catalytic reduction and then esterify it with sulfur trioxide or a compound that provides sulfur trioxide in the presence of a tertiary base.
Example: 20 parts by weight of chlorosulfonic acid are added dropwise to 100 parts by weight of dried pyridine at about 5 ° C. while stirring. With continued cooling, a mixture of 10 parts by weight of the dye, as obtainable by condensation of 6-chloro-8-oxythionaphthene with 4.5-dichloroacenaphthenquinone, and 7 parts by weight of copper powder is added quickly. After removing the ice cooling, the temperature is allowed to rise gradually to room temperature and then increased to about 40 C. The mixture is stirred at this temperature for 2 to 8 hours.
After this time has elapsed, a solution is present that is only clouded by excess copper. This is poured into 500 parts by weight of ice water and allowed to settle for some time. The bulk of the pyridine and acid are separated off by pouring off. The semi-solid residue is taken up with 500 parts by weight of 5% sodium hydroxide solution and the solution is subjected to vacuum distillation. At 20 mm and 60 "the remaining pyridine is driven off in about 1 hour. The pyridine-free alkaline solution is diluted to 2000 parts by weight and clarified. The salt of the leucosulfuric acid ester can then be separated off from the deep red solution by adding potassium chloride; it is orange-red colored.
The ester can be easily printed using the various printing processes; After development, an orange-red shade of almost the same strength is obtained on cotton, rayon and viscose rayon. The wet fastness properties of the prints are all very good.
The starting dye can be obtained by condensing 37 parts by weight of 6-chloro-3-oxythiononaphthene in 500 parts by weight of glacial acetic acid with 50 parts by weight of 4,5-dichloracena.phthenquinone. About 40 parts by weight of dye are obtained in crystalline form.
The crystals, which are extremely soluble in almost all common solvents, can be recrystallized using pyridine or chlorobenzene. This gives long, bundled, orange-red needles with a melting point of 403 to 405. You are in. Conc. Sulfuric acid very poorly soluble with a pale yellowish green color.
The kier salt is only very sparingly soluble in water.
