\ 'experienced in the production of a trisazo dye. It has been found that a new valuable trisazo dye is obtained if the diazo compound of the aminodisazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0007
with N-4'-oxy-3'-carboxyphenyl-1'-sulfonyl-N-ethyl-1-amino-8 -ogynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid according to the formula

clutch.
The new trisazo dye dyes in silver-gray shades, draws substantive to cotton, viscose artificial silk or linen and can be used in a mixture with wool dyes to dye wool-cotton or wool-viscose artificial silk mixtures. The fastness of the dyeings can be improved by post-treatment with copper or chromium salt solutions.
Example: 352 parts of N-3'-aminobenzoyl-1-amino-3-carboxy-4-oxybenzene-5-sulfonic acid are dissolved in aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, 69 parts of sodium nitrite are added and the solution is diluted Run in hydrochloric acid at 20 C. A neutral solution of 223 parts l is then placed on top. Amin.onaphthalin-7-sulfonic acid added and brings the coupling to the end by adding sodium acetate.
The aminoazo dyes which separate out are dissolved by adding sodium hydroxide solution, 69 parts of sodium nitrite are added, diazotized by adding hydrochloric acid and a neutral solution of 223 parts of 1-aminonaphthalene-7-sulfous acid with the addition of Sodium acetate combined to form the disazo dye.
The disazo dye is salted out of the alkaline solution, suction filtered, again brought into solution with the addition of alkali metal hydroxide, 69 parts of sodium nitrite are added while cooling with ice and diazotized by adding hydrochloric acid until a weakly acidic reaction. The diazo compound is run into an alkaline solution of 547 parts of N-4 'oxy-3'-carboxyphenyl-1'-sulfonyl-N-ethyl -1-amino-8-oxyna.phthalin-3,6-disulfonic acid.
The trisazo dye that can be obtained in this way dyes cotton and viscose artificial silk in silver-gray tones, which are extremely fast to wash after treatment with chromium salt solutions.
