Description
Process for the production of a new condensation product. It has been found that a new condensation product is obtained if ic-heptadecylbenzimidazole is reacted in the presence of an acid with the addition compound of trimethylamine to chloroacetic acid-N-methylolamide.
The reaction is convenient in the presence of a. Solvent, such as alcohol, acetone, dioxane, glacial acetic acid, made Hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, for example, can be used as the acid.
The new condensation product forms a syrupy, gradually solidifying mass that dissolves clearly in water, especially in the presence of small amounts of acids, forming a strongly foaming solution. It can be used as a textile auxiliary. Example: 25 parts of u-heptadecylbenzimidazole are dissolved in 25 parts of glacial acetic acid at water bath temperature, whereupon 13 parts of the addition compound of methylolchloroacetamide and trimethylamine are added to the solution.
Finally, 2 parts of conc. Hydrochloric acid. With constant stirring, the condensation is carried out at water bath temperature until a sample of the condensation mixture is completely soluble in water, which is the case in 12 to 20 hours.
The acetic acid is then distilled off in vacuo, the new product remaining as a syrupy, gradually solidifying mass, which dissolves clearly in water, especially in the presence of small amounts of acids, under formation of strongly foaming solutions.
