Fig. 2 est une vue en plan correspon dante, et Fig. 3 une coupe; Fig. 4 est une vue latérale du mécanisme d'impression et de ladite forme d'exécution du dispositif de sectionnement et montre, en coupe, le cylindre porte-papier; Fig. 5 est une vue latérale (suivant les flèches 5-5 de fig. 6), d'un dispositif de débrayage de l'avancement automatique du papier; Fig. 6 est une vue par l'avant du méca nisme représenté en fig. 1, le dispositif d'im pression excepté;
Device forming part of an accounting machine and allowing the cutting of a printed strip of paper. We know that in calculating machines, accounting machines and all other machines of this kind, the strip of paper printed by the machine can unwind automatically at each operation, from a certain distance, and be cut by tearing in front of an appropriate organ, after a given number of inscriptions. Generally, the part allowing the tearing off is arranged in such a way that the strip of pa pier must still be pulled out by hand over a certain distance, so that the last sum entered appears on the. part to be separated from the rest of the strip.
The present invention relates to a device forming part of an accounting machine and allowing the cutting of a strip of printed paper, characterized by a tear-off member capable of being placed below the printing line., so that the printed document can be separated from the web, directly after the last printing, without further displacement.
With such a device, the last impression made on the newspaper or on any other document passed around the cylinder therefore remains visible after the printed part of the strip of paper has been torn off.
The appended drawing represents, by way of examples, two embodiments of the device forming the subject of the present invention.
Fig. 1 to 6 relate to an accounting machine provided with a first embodiment of the device.
Fig. 1 is a side view of the mechanism for advancing the paper web and of said embodiment of the device.
Fig. 2 is a corresponding plan view, and FIG. 3 a cut; Fig. 4 is a side view of the printing mechanism and of said embodiment of the cutting device and shows, in section, the paper cylinder; Fig. 5 is a side view (along arrows 5-5 of FIG. 6) of a device for disengaging the automatic paper advance; Fig. 6 is a view from the front of the mechanism shown in FIG. 1, the printing device excepted;
Fig. 7 to. 11 relate to. an accounting machine provided with a second embodiment of the device; Fig. 7 shows the paper advance mechanism of this machine and said embodiment of the severing device; Fig. 8 is a plan view corresponding to FIG. 7, the cylinder and the tape being omitted; Fig. 9 and 10 show details of FIG. 7; Fig. 11 is a side view of the manual paper web advancement mechanism of this machine.
The accounting machine partially shown in fi-. 1 to 6 includes support 32 (fig. 1) for a roll of paper 33, support attached to. the rear of the machine, the box of which is indicated at 30. From the roller 33, mounted on an axis 34, a strip of paper 35 is unwound which passes through a horizontal guide device 36 fixed to the box and of which the part front is bent vertically at 40 to stop at 37 just below the ink ribbons 41. The band 35 then passes between the ribbons 41 and leaves the machine in front of a tear-off member 39. A paper cylinder 31 is designed to receive a journal 42 or any other document.
One of the ink ribbons is disposed between the web 35 and the newspaper 42, while the other ribbon is placed between the web 35 and printing sectors 38. As a result of this arrangement, the paper web 35 is printed. on both sides. Device of avaraceineut of the strip of paper . - The strip 35 must advance one line in each operation and, for this purpose, the machine has a mechanism mounted on the guiding device 36. A double bracket 45 (fig. 2 and 3), driven by a horizontal reciprocating movement, is guided by slots 46 (fi ". 2) on the studs 47 of the positive guide device 36.
The slots 46 determine the extent of movement of the caliper 45 and prevent. its blocking. The caliper 45 has, on the left (fig. 2), an upper finger 43 and a lower finger 44. These fingers can penetrate into openings 48 of the guide device 36 and thus come to pinch the strip of paper 35 under the action of res spells at. blade 49. In this way, when moving the caliper, the fingers 43 and 44 drive the paper.
However, this entrainment must be avoided in both directions and, in order to avoid the displacement of the paper backwards, the mechanism is constructed so that the upper finger 43 is moved away from the web towards the end of the movement towards the back. forward and held in that position during the return movement. The upper finger 43 has two lateral projections 60 which are inclined, as seen in FIG. 3. In fi-. 2 and 3, the stirrup 45 is in its rear position. As it moves forward, the protrusions 60 meet inclined protrusions 61 belonging to a paper clamping device 62 mounted on a pin 59 and held in contact with the web by means of torsion springs 63.
During their forward movement, the protrusions 60 meet the protrusions 61 and lift them to release the band which can then be dragged by the fingers 43 and 44. At a given moment, the protrusions 60 exceed the protrusions 61 , so that the clamping device 62 can return to the active position, i.e. keep the paper stationary under the action of the torsion spring 63.
During the return movement of the stirrup 45, the protrusions 60 meet the protrusions 61 from the left but, as a result of the inclination of these protrusions, the upper finger 43 is found to be lifted and the paper released, so that the advancement produced during the forward movement remains acquired. Towards the end of the return movement, the protrusions 60 go beyond the protrusions 61 and fall back on the paper which is, as at the beginning, pinched between the fingers 43, 44 under the action of the spells 49.
The paper feed mechanism is driven by the machine control. A connecting rod 64 (fig. 1 and 6), controlled by the motor (not shown), communicates an oscillating movement to an arm 65 fixed to a main shaft 67 which thus performs, with each operation, a partial rotation, first of all in the senestrorsum sense, to return, in the opposite sense, to the initial position.
The main shaft 6 7 carries, on the other hand, an arm 68 provided with a roller 69 cooperating with a cam track 70 formed in a lever 71 mounted idly on a pivot 72. The free end of the lever 71 is articulated to a connecting rod 73 which, by means of the parts described, is raised, then lowered, with each operation.
Automatic advancement of the strip of paper. - The upper end of the connecting rod 73 is articulated, at 74 (fig. 1 and 4), to an arm 75 fixed on a shaft 76 and this in such a way that the latter also performs, at each operation, an oscillating movement, first in the senestrorsum direction, then in the opposite direction. The shaft 76 carries, on the other hand, two arms 77 connected by a tear-off cross member 39 (FIG. 4), for example in the form of a saw.
The crosspiece -and the support arms 77 form a stirrup which can occupy two positions indicated in FIG. 4, the position shown in solid lines corresponding to the rest position e1 'the position in phantom, that which the caliper 39 occupies during the operation, the tear-off member 39 being moved away from the path of the printing members 38 which, therefore, can run their course without obstacles.
In the rest position, the slider 39 is located below the writing line printed last, so that the paper strip can be torn off without having to pull the strip a certain distance, as we have to do with currently known machines.
The upper end of the connecting rod 73 has a boss 90 (fig. 1 and 4), an upper edge of which, inclined, acts, during the upward movement, on a pin 91 carried by an arm 93 fixed to a sleeve 94 ( fig. 5 and 6) turning itself on the shaft 76. The sleeve 94 carries at its other end, a second arm 95 (fig. 5) provided with a pin 96 engaged in a longitudinal slot 97 made in a connecting rod 98, the right-hand end of which is articulated to the yoke 45. During the reciprocating movement of the arm 95, the stud 96 moves normally without action in the longitudinal slot 97.
However, the connecting rod 98 carries a coupling pawl 89 (fig. 5) which can engage with the pin 96, so that the upward and downward movement of the connecting rod 73 is transformed - if the pawl of ac coupling 89 is in the active position - in a reciprocating movement of the caliper 45, which, as we have seen, produces the advancement on a line spacing of the strip of paper. At about the time when the tip 92 of the boss 90 touches the roller 91, the arm 93 has tilted from its maximum amplitude determined by the length of the guide slots 46.
It will be noted that the arc of a circle described by the stud 74 during the rotation of the arm 75 extends above the horizontal passing through the axis 76, so that at a given moment, the boss 90 is brought to the left (fig. 1) as well as the pin 91. This movement to the left, independent of the shape of the wise bos 90 and able to communicate a. additional effort on the parts is prevented thanks to the fact that once the tip 92 has passed, the boss 90 has an edge inclined in the other direction and which thus compensates for the movement to the left of the connecting rod 73.
As the advancement of the paper strip takes place at the start of the operation, during the forward movement of the caliper 45, it can be seen that this advancement takes place before the printing proper.
Disengaging automatic feed says paper. - When the coupling pawl 89 (fig. 5) is released from the pin 96, the feed device belt is disengaged from the drive arm 95, which operates at. each operation.
The device is engaged or disengaged, for example, by hand, by means of levers 100 and 101. FIG. 5 shows the coupling pawl 89 in the clutch position and, to move it away, it suffices to move the lever 101 in the senestorsum direction, which lifts the pawl 89 by the 'via a connecting rod 103. The lever 100, in the form of a pawl, is mounted on a pin 102 of the arm 95 and its pin 107 is engaged in a cam track 108 of the lever 101.
When the stud 107 is located, as shown in fig. 5, in the rear part of the cam track 108 (and held in this position by the spring 106), the lever 101 cannot turn in the senestrorsum direction. On the other hand, if the lever 100 is moved somewhat in the senestrorsum direction, the pin 107 is raised in the cam track 108 and can protrude a point 110, so that the lever 101 can at this moment rotate in the senestrorsum direction. . The rotation of the lever 100 in the senestorsum direction also has the effect of tensioning the spring 106 arranged between the pin 104 of the lever 100 and the coupling pawl 89,
so that the latter follows the lever 100 and moves away from the stud 96. To re-engage, that is to say put the pawl 89 back into engagement with the stud 96, the lever 101 is tilted in the dextrorsum direction. , which drives the lever 100 through the spring 106 and returns the stud 107 to the position of fig. 5. The upper end of the link 103 is guided by a longitudinal slot on a stud 109 of the lever 101 in order to provide the necessary play when the stud 107 passes the point 110 of the cam 108.
Advancement to the inaira. of the strip of paper. - A shaft 121 (fig. 1), rotating in the right wall of the safe 30, ends with a button 120 held in place by spacers 122 (fig. 6). The internal washer is attached to the shaft 121 and carries a cam with four bosses 123 (fit -:,. 1 and 6) cooperating with a roller 124 carried by the branch 125 of a pivoting lever at 126. The other branch of this lever can engage, by a forked part, with a pin 127 of the arm 93.
It results from this construction that, whatever the direction of rotation of the button 120, the roller 124 moves away, for each boss 123, from the center 121 and causes the lever 125 to tilt in the senestrorsal direction, a movement which is transmitted, through the arm 93, the sleeve 94, the arm 95 and the connecting rod 98, to the paper advancement mechanism which thus receives a reciprocating movement similar to that produced by the movement ascending and descending from the connecting rod 73. A spring 128 (fig. 1) tends to keep the roller 124 in constant contact with the cam with bosses 123, , in particular when the button 120 is not used or when the device is controlled by the machine drive.
The second machine partially shown in fi.- ,. 7 to 11 comprises a second embodiment of the cutting device according to the invention, as well as a mechanism making it possible to disengage the advance of the paper. A connecting rod 73 (Fig. 7) driven, at each operation, with a vertical reciprocating movement, causes an arm 130 mounted on a shaft 131 to tilt. The other end of this shaft rotates in a bearing 132 (fig. 7 and 8) carried by the frame of the machine. The bearing 132 and a second similar bearing 133 are spaced apart so as to allow the oscillating movement of a caliper 137.
The two arms 136 of this caliper com carry longitudinal slots each cooperating with two studs 135 and 143 carried by arms 162 of a tearing member 138. These slots are long enough to allow the 'tear-off member 138 to move radially in the caliper 137 in the direction of the pivot 139. Furthermore, the member 138 participates in the movement of which the caliper is driven in each operation. This oscillating movement has the effect of bringing, during the printing process, the tear-off member 138 out of the path of the printing sectors, below them.
As for the radial movement of the tear-off member 138, its purpose is to prevent the latter, during its downward movement, from catching the tape 41. FIG. 7 shows the parts in the rest position. When the caliper 137 rotates in the dextrorsal direction, that is to say lowers during the first half of the operation, the studs 135 and 143 are moved in the direction of the pivot 139 </ B > thanks to cam tracks 134 made in the bearing supports 132, 133,
so that the gold gane 138 is moved away from the ink ribbons 41.
The shaft 131 carries a plate 140 (fig. 7), a stud 161 of which is articulated to a connecting rod 141, the other end of which is connected to a stud 142 of the caliper 137. When, during the first half of the operation, the connecting rod 73 is raised, the wafer 140 swings in the dextrorsum direction by driving the caliper 137 to move the tear-off member 138 away from the path of the printing segments. During the second half of the operation, the member 138 returns, in the opposite direction, to the rest position shown in FIG. 7.
Advance of the paper. - In this second machine, the mechanism for advancing the paper comprises pairs of knurls 145, 170 (fig. 8) between which the paper web passes, as well as a mechanism controlling the rotation of these knobs.
These are placed - where a guide device 144 is folded vertically (fig. 9), the upper rollers 145, mounted idly on an axis 146, serving as counter-rollers and acting under the action of springs. 147 and levers 148 leaning against the shaft 146.
The lower rollers 170, which are serrated to ensure better contact with the paper, are fixed on a shaft 149 carrying a feed rock 150 which, at each operation, turns one tooth in the senestrorsum direction. . The paper web thus advances from one line to the next, each operation for which the advancement mechanism must be active.
The rotation of the ratchet 150 is derived from the movement of the shaft 131 and of the plate 140 which, as we have seen, switches in the dextrorsum direction during the first half of the operation. An advancement pawl 151 pivots at 152 on the plate 140, the pivot angle being limited by a pin 153 (FIGS. 9 and 10) carried by the plate 140 and engaged in a slot 154 of the pawl 151.
The arc described by the point 171 of the pawl 151 can be of two different radii: a large radius when the upper part of the slot 154 is in contact with the stud 153, the point 171 in this case coming into contact with the wheel. advancement 150; a smaller radius, when the stud 153 touches the lower part of the slot 154. In the latter case, the point 171 does not touch the advancing ratchet 150.
The shaft 131 carries a locking pawl 155 (fig. 9 and 10), provided to prevent the rotation of the wheel 150 in the dextrorsum direction. A spring 156 resiliently prevents this pawl 155 from rotating in the dextrorsum direction, while allowing the advancement pawl 151 to ensure the movement of the paper, during the first part of the operation, before the printing takes place. produce.
The spring 156, which connects the locking worm pawl 155 and the advancement pawl 151, also maintains the latter in its normal active position, shown in FIG. 9.
By means of a lever 157, pivoting at 172 (fig. 9) on the advancement pawl 151, it is possible to turn the latter in the dextrorsal direction, on its pivot 152 and this against the action of the spring. 156. As a result, the advancement pawl 151 is brought into a position such that its tip 171 describes the arc of small diameter, that is to say disengages the advance of the paper.
When the lever 157 is moved in the dextror- sum direction, by means of a handle 158, a heel 160 acts on an inclined edge 159 of the insert 140 and causes the advancement pawl 151 to swing in the dextrorsum direction until that the lower end of the slot 154 rests against the stud 153. At the end of this movement, the heel 160 has dyed a notch in the ridge 159 and is elastically held in this position by the spring 156 (fit. 10). For this position of the parts, the advance of the basket is disengaged until the lever 157 is returned in the senestrorsum direction, against the action of the spring 156.
When the locking pawl 155 is moved from the active position of fit. 9 to the inactive position of fit. 10, the advancement mechanism is disengaged and the strip of pa pier can be moved in both directions, by a manual device described below.
Mounted like the plate 140 on the shaft 131, there is a part 173 provided with two tabs 174 and 175 and that a spring 176 tends to maintain, by the tab 175, in contact with the locking pawl 155. When the advancement pawl 151 is brought into the inactive position, its extension 176 (fit. 10) meets tab 174 and drives part 173 in the dextrorsal direction, which part in turn moves, thanks to tab 175, pawl locking 155 in the dextrorsal direction, that is to say in the inactive position, against the action of spring 156.
The advancement ratchet 150 and its shaft 149 can therefore be rotated in both directions.
Manual movement of the paper strip - pier. - The right wall of the machine's chest supports a shaft 177 (fit. 11) which carries a button 178 ( fit. 8) on the outside and a 179 pinion on the inside. The pinion 179 meshes with another pinion 187 fixed on the shaft 149, so that by turning the knob 178 the paper web is moved forward or backward, provided of course that the locking pawl 155 is at this moment in inactive position.
If this pawl is in the retaining position, the belt can pull forward, but not backward.
As we see in fact. 11, an arm 180 mounted idly on the shaft 177 carries a handle 181 which pivots on this arm and emerges from a circular opening 182 made in the trunk. The arm 180 is normally held in position by a spring 183. On the pivot of the handle 181 is. mounted a pawl 184 which can cooperate with the star wheel 179 when said handle 181 is bottom abutment in the senestrorsum direction (fit. 11), against the action of the spring 183. When the The operator releases the handle 181, the spring 183 acts on the pawl 184 and moves it away from the toothed wheel 179 to return the parts to the fit position. 11.
Studs 185 and 186 only catch from the fit rest position. 11, the handle 181 can be moved in a direction other than the sensory direction. The mechanism which has just been described makes it possible to rotate the toothed wheel 179 through a given angle and, consequently, to manually advance the strip of paper over a determined distance.
