Description
Process for the preparation of a new monoazo dye. The present invention relates to the Her position of a new monoazo dye, wel cher produces greenish-yellow tones on wool that withstand intensive washing, fulling and light excellently.
According to the present process, the dye is prepared by coupling di-azoLated dodecyl-p-aminobenzoate with 1- (2 ': 5'-dichloro-4'-sulfophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyr - azolone.
Example: 30.5 parts by weight of dodecyl-p aminobenzoate, suspended in 250 parts by weight of water and 26 parts by weight of 36% hydrochloric acid, who diazotized by adding 7 parts by weight of sodium nitrite. The diazo suspension obtained in this way is added to a cooled, aqueous solution of 32.3 parts by weight of 1- (2 ':
5'-dichloro-4'-sulfophenyl) -3 -methyl-5-pyrazolone, which is kept alkaline against litmus during the addition by means of soda. After the coupling is complete, the coupling mixture initially has the appearance of a thin jelly. After adding 5% sodium chloride (weight for volume) and stirring for several hours, the dye separates out in granular form. It is filtered off and dried. When dry, the new dye forms a yellow powder.
It gives a yellow solution both with hot water and with sulfuric acid. On wool, in baths containing 2% ammonium acetate, it creates greenish-yellow tones with excellent resistance to intensive washing, fulling and light.
