Description
<B>Zusatzpatent</B> zum Hauptpatent Nr. 190717. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen Hilfsstoffes. Es wurde gefunden, @dass man einen neuen Hilfsstoff erhält, wenn man das N-Äthyl-,u-n-undecylbenzimidazol mit sulfie- rend wirkenden Mitteln behandelt. Das neue Produkt bildet in Form seines Alkalisalzes eine helle Masse, die sich in Wasser zu einer klaren, stark schäumenden Lösung, die aus gezeichnete Wasch-, Netz- und Dispergier- e igenschaften besitzt, löst.
Das ausgezeichnete Schaumvermögen des neuen Produktes macht dasselbe zum Waschen lebender Haare besonders wertvoll. Es kann ferner zur Herstellung von Zahnpasten oder von Schaumlöschmitteln verwendet werden.
<I>Beispiel:</I> 67,2 Teile eines Gemisches, bestehend hauptsächlich aus,u-n-Undecylbenzimidazol, wie esdurch Erhitzen von technischer Kokos- fettsäure mit o-Phenylendiamin erhalten wird, erhitzt man unter Druck mit<B>17,3</B> Tei len Äthylchlorid während 17 ,Stunden auf 150 bis<B>1,55'.</B> Die Reaktionsmasse bildet nach dem Erkalten eine salbenartige Masse, die in verdünnter Salzsäure klar löslich ist.
Man gibt zu 300 Teilen !Schwefelsäure bei 20 bis 25<B>'</B>allmählich<B>100</B> 0 Teile .des nachdem vorigen Absatz erhaltenen N-Äthylbenz- imidazolgemisches. Die Sulfonierung voll zieht sich schon teilweise während des Ein tragens; sie wird durch Hinzufliessenlassen von etwa 50 Teilen 24%igem Oleum im Laufe von zwei bis drei Stunden zu Ende geführt. Sobald .eine Probe sich in verdünn ten wässerigen Alkalien klar und vollständig löst, giesst man das Sulfonierungsgemisch auf Eis, filtriert und wäscht mit Wasser.
Die zurückbleibende Sulfonsäure wird in Wasser verteilt und mit Natriumhydrogyd oder -kar- bonat neutralisiert.

The excellent foaming power of the new product makes it particularly valuable for washing living hair. It can also be used to make toothpastes or foam extinguishers.
