Grinding machine. The object of the present invention is a grinding machine, the grinding wheel support of which can occupy two positions, one for grinding the workpiece, the other for dressing the grinding wheel. This machine is characterized in that this support is mounted on the frame of the machine, so that the passage from one position to another is done by rotation about an axis perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the part. to work.
The carriage of certain currently known grinding machines undergoes a translation to pass from the working position to that of dressing. This translation is generally controlled by the lead screw of the advancing device, resulting in increased wear of the latter and, on the other hand, significant loss of time. Finally, current constructions involve, in the case of internal grinding, the need to move away from the dressing apparatus during grinding and to bring it closer to the grinding wheel for dressing.
The object of the present invention is to overcome these drawbacks and allow particularly easy and rapid control of the machine.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view thereof, and FIG. 2 a plan view; fig. 3 is a plan view of part. the support of the grinding wheel; figs. 4, 5 and 6 relate to a detail, FIG. 4 being a section through IV-IV of FIG. 6; fig. 7 is a section through VII-VII of FIG. 5.
The grinding machine shown com takes a frame 1 carrying the support 2 of the workpiece 3, the support 4 of the grinding wheel 5 and the support 4cc of a tool for dressing this grinding wheel. The support 4 is fixed to a vertical shaft 6 which can rotate in the bearing 6a and bearing; at its lower part, an electric motor 7, connected to the grinding wheel shaft by a transmission 8. The bearing 6a can slide vertically on the frame, this movement being controlled by the flywheel 9 and the screw 10 which cooperates with a nut 11 so lidary of stage 6a.
Fig. 1 shows the grinding wheel in working position; to bring it into the dres sage position after the carriage 2 has reached the end of its travel and the grinding wheel 5 has come out of the part 3, the support 4 is rotated by 90 around the axis of the shaft 6 , which brings the grinding wheel to the position shown in fig. 2, position in which it is in contact with the dressing tool, the motor 7 and the transmission 8 also effecting this rotational movement; the workpiece is then sufficiently clear to allow its measurement, for example, by a buffer gauge.
The advance movement of the grinding wheel towards the workpiece. And its release for a return to empty and possibly a calibrating is effected by a translation of the cha riot 4, parallel to the axis of the shaft 6, com mandated by the steering wheel 9. The support 4 carries a latching device cooperating with the. stops 12 and 13 fixed to the frame of the machine and each determining one of the positions of the support 4.
This latching device (fig. 3 to 7) comprises a bearing 14, carried by the support 4, having on the outside a projection 15 directed downwards and in which a shaft 16 can slide, bearing at each of its ends and outside the bearing 14, a bi-grooved projection 17; the two projections 17 form part of a bracket 20 ending in a handle 21. On the shaft 16 are freely mounted, inside the bearing 14, two washers 18, between which is disposed a spring 19.
Fig. 4 shows the rest position; the lever 21 is horizontal and the two projections 17 are equidistant from the projection 15. By grasping the lever 21, the support 4 is rotated until the bracket 20 reaches above the stop stop 13, for example, then the lever 21 is turned upwards, the projection 17 on the left is lowered and together with the projection 15 forms an elastic jaw which clamps the part 13 (fig. 5 and 7).
Of course, the invention is not; limited to what is shown in the drawing. In particular, it is not necessary for the axis of rotation of the support 4 to be vertical, it is sufficient that it be perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the workpiece.
To perform the translational movement of the support 4, one could act directly on the shaft 6. This arrangement can be applied to all kinds of grinding machines, in particular to machines for grinding threads; in this latter case, the dressing device 4a will be provided with the movements necessary to forge the grinding wheel to the profile of the thread.
