The present invention relates to a feed device for a high speed cold head shaping machine.
The conventional devices for cutting blanks and their introduction into the head shaping machines are made as shown in FIG. 1. The upper and lower faces of a cutting tool 2 mounted at the front end of a shaft 1 carry a pair of grippers 3 resiliently biased and which, when the blank 4 has been cut to the required length, hold this and transfer it to the die 7 where the first head shaping operation takes place. The distance between the place where the cutting takes place and the first shaping operation is very large, which increases the risk of disturbances.
In addition, the cutting and transferring operations of the blanks cannot be coordinated with the time required for the shaping of the head of the blank, which greatly decreases the efficiency of the head shaping machine.
In addition, a roller 8 is fixed in a base at the same time as the vertical lower end of the shaft 1, this roller penetrating into a guide groove 9 of a sliding plate 5 located under the shaft 1 and effecting a reciprocating movement perpendicular to the shaft 1. When the sliding plate 5 begins its reciprocating motion under the control of a crank and a control rod 6, the roller 8 fixed in a base at the same time as the shaft 1 gives the latter a backward and forward movement to cut the raw wire to the desired length and to transfer the blanks. It is obvious that this conventional mechanism has the drawback of being complicated, imprecise, and of being subject to rapid wear.
As a result, it is very difficult to synchronize the different operations such as cutting, transferring and reversing, which limits the efficiency of the head shaping operation.
The object of the invention is the establishment of a feed device for a head shaping machine intended, for example, to shape screw heads whose body and head are of substantially different sizes and of complicated shapes. . The head shaping machine shall be able to form rivets, tubular rivets, socket head screws, hex head screws, wood screws, wood bolts, screws for machines, bolts for l automotive industry, conical screws and screws whose head has a cross-shaped recess, a countersunk head, an oval head, a square head and the like.
The aim of the invention is to establish a feed device which makes it possible to overcome the above-mentioned defects.
According to the invention, the feed device of a high-speed, cold head shaping rotary machine is characterized in that it comprises cutting means performing a reciprocating movement and driven by the back-and-forth movement of a wire cutting shaft, the shaft itself being driven by an eccentric shaft, a store for receiving the cut off blanks located opposite the cutting means, means for retaining the cut off blanks in the magazine, a cutting die for guiding the wire in a cutting position where it is cut by said cutting means, stop means for stopping the front end of the wire and adjusting the length of the cut blank,
and means for driving the cut-off blank into a die opening of a rotating die head after the wire has been cut, the blanks being introduced into said magazine by means of said cutting means and being retained in the magazine by said retaining means so that they remain aligned during the cutting operation, the blanks being driven into said swaging opening of the rotating head one after the other, in front of said magazine so that they can undergo the head shaping operation.

fig. 4B is a plan view of the part shown in Fig.4A.
The primary driving source is a motor 10 which drives an eccentric shaft 20 via a pulley 11, a V-belt 12 and a pulley 13. A bevel gear 21 and a spur gear 22 are provided. keyed on the eccentric shaft 20, this eccentric shaft driving a sliding block 30 via a link 31, in order to impart a reciprocating movement to said sliding block 30. The bevel gear 21 mounted on said eccentric shaft 20 cooperates with a bevel pinion 41 to drive an eccentric shaft 40, cooperating with a connecting rod head 42 imparting a reciprocating movement to a shaft 50 for cutting the wire.
An eccentric disc 43 is keyed to the shaft 40 and one end of a rod 44 is pivoted on the eccentric disc 43, the other end of the rod being frictionally connected to a rod 61 carrying a friction plate mounted at the end. inside the rotary die head 60.
The rotary head 60 is thus actuated by means of the rod 44 and its accessories. The device comprises an ejection mechanism 80 as well as rollers 92 for introducing the raw wire into a cutting die, this by means of a device 91 intended to straighten the wire. Fig. 3 shows a sectional view on a larger scale along the line D-D of FIG. 2 while fig. 4 illustrates a partial sectional view of the cutting and insertion device. After the raw wire 90 has passed through the device 91 and the cutting die 93, it comes into contact with a stop 101 disposed at the rear of a magazine 100 intended to receive the cut blanks, this stop being intended to ensure the desired length to the cut blanks 90A.
When the shaft 50 moves forward, it cuts the raw wire to a determined length, this using a cutting tool 51 in the form of a U and having a semi-circular edge.
This tool is mounted at the front end of the shaft 50 and has two arms 511, 512 intended to hold and push forward in the magazine 100 the two ends of the cut-off blank 90B, this while keeping the blanks parallel to each other. themselves and exerting uniform force. When the sectioned blank has been pushed into the magazine 100, it cooperates with a retention arm 103 comprising an end 104 having inclined inner and outer surfaces 105 and 106. This arm is mounted on the magazine 100 using a pivot 102, which allows it to move up and down to tightly retain the cut-off blanks 90B so that they are pressed against each other and aligned so that the axis of the blank before 90C is placed in the extension of the axis of a die-forging opening 701 of the rotary head 60.
Then, a pusher of the sliding block 30 pushes the blank 90C into the opening 701. In practice, it will suffice for the shaft 50 to move approximately 1 cm to perform the cutting operation.
In addition, it is easy to time the cutting, inserting and shaping operations of the head so that these sequences are all of the same duration, which simplifies construction and ensures precise operation without the need for use specialized operators.
