Process for the preparation of a metal-containing azo dye. It is known to produce azo dyes by diazo compounds of a mono-aininophenyIhexahydrobenzols, respectively. of a di (aaninophenyl) hexahydrobenzene combined with azo dye components without water-soluble groups which contain a fully or partially hydrogenated carbon ring.
Azo dyes that hold one or more hydrogenated rings have also been used for coloring organic solvents, oils, fats, waxes, etc. Finally, it has been proposed that o-oxyazo dyes and their metal compounds are obtained by coupling dianotated o-aminophenols or o-aminonaphthols with 2-oxy-tetrahydronaphthalene. and any treatment of the dyes in substance or on the fiber with metal donors.
It has now been found that valuable dyes are obtained if one uses those o-aminophenols or o-aminonaphthols or their substitution products which contain one or more hydroaromatic substituents in the core, which couples them with components capable of coupling and before, during or after Dyeing process converted into metal compounds. Particularly suitable metal compounds are those of cobalt and chromium, but those of copper, iron and other metals can also be used.
For the production of water-soluble dyes it is of course necessary that the dye molecule contains sulfo or other water-solubilizing groups. Such groups must not be present in the representation of fat-soluble dyes.
The subject of the present patent is a process for the production of a metal-containing azo dye, which is characterized in that 1- (4-oxy-3-aminophenyl) -hexahydrobenzene is dianotized and coupled with 2-oxynaphthalene and the dye obtained is with a cobalt salt converted into a cobalt complex compound.
Example: 22.75 parts of 1- (4-oxy-3-aminophenyl) -hexa-hydrobenzene chlorohydrate are diazotized in the usual way and added to an alcoholic solution of the sodium salt of 2-oxynaphthalene. The resulting dye is suctioned off and, after drying and grinding, a brownish-violet powder is obtained.
3.45 g of the dye powder thus obtained are suspended in 200 cm of alcohol and 8 cm of 10% sodium hydroxide solution are added. After a further addition of a solution of 2.5 grams of cobalt chloride (CoCl2, δH20) in 10 cm of water, a uniform red-violet solution forms, which is warmed up on the water bath for a short time. This solution is poured into a lot of dilute saline solution, which at the same time contains a little dissolved sodium acetate. The cobalt complex salt formed from the dye is filtered off with suction, washed free of salt and dried.
It easily dissolves in organic compounds with a red-purple color.
