Self-winding watch. The object of the present invention is a self-winding watch, usable in particular on automobiles. It is distinguished by the fact that the movement is suspended by springs from the watch case in such a way that it has different rest positions depending on the state of tension of the barrel spring.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 represents the movement of a square watch, seen from below; Fig. 2 is a section of the preceding figure, along line II-II, and FIG. 3 is a view similar to FIG. 1, representing a second form of execution.
In the drawings, the movement 1 is articulated to a box 2 by two levers 3, freely mounted on pins 4. On the other hand, said movement is suspended from the upper edge of the box 2 by two coil springs 5 .
The axis 6 of the barrel 7 is extended to the outside of the movement, and carries a toothed wheel 8 which meshes with a pinion 9 integral with an axis 10. At the outer part of the latter is mounted a gear wheel. ratchet 11 which cooperates with a pawl 12. The latter is pivoted on the lower edge of the box 2 and is under the action of a spring 13. A second pawl 15, fixed to the movement, prevents the ratchet wheel 11 from rotate under the action of the barrel spring.
The ratchet wheel 11 is not integral with the axis 10; it is connected to it by a friction coupling, comprising a disc 16 integral with the axle 10 and a spring 17 hand held by a nut 18. The spring presses the ratchet wheel against the disc with enough force to ensure the transmission. some movement. Thanks to this coupling device, the too intense jolts which can occur are damped and cannot damage the movement of the watch; this device also prevents overvoltage of the barrel spring when the latter is wound up.
The operation of the winding device is as follows: 1st movement acts by its own weight on the springs 5; the ratchet wheel II being held by the pawl 12, the movement will take a position depending on the tension of the barrel spring. If the latter is completely relaxed, the movement will occupy the position corresponding to the maximum extension of the springs 5. As soon as the watch is subjected to the jolts caused by the machine, it will perform a back and forth movement, which will gradually raise it.
As the tension of the mainspring increases, the movement will come closer and closer to its highest position; at this time the friction clutch acting, will limit the spring tension.
Fig. 3 shows a second embodiment. It differs from the first only by the shape of the watch, which is round instead of square.
