Dual-fluid carburettor for explosion engines. The present invention relates to a dual liquid carburetor for explosion engines, in which one of the liquids can be, for example, gasoline or another light fuel. and the other for example benzol, alcohol or heavy fuel or even an incombustible fluid such as water.
This carburetor has at least one- tank at constant level for one of the liquids, air supply pipes and two liquids to < / B> nozzles, a sprayer, a diffuser, regulators, all arranged so that the two liquids arrive, mixed with air, in an air inlet channel after having passed through in the sprayer, this channel leading to an annular chamber surrounding the diffuser, with which it communicates by lights, the nozzles being arranged in vertical shafts, so that they can be disassemble and change them while the engine is running without causing any flow, a control organ being placed in the outlet channel of the diffuser, the whole arranged in order to produce such a supply,
that at start- and at idle speed, the combustible mixture contains only the most combustible liquid and air, while in normal operation the two liquids are discharged simultaneously, in proportion variable with the engine speed, the quantity of the more combustible liquid decreasing with la, speed.

Fig. 15 represents a variant of the device shown at la. fig. 13.
The carburetor shown in fig. 1 to 5 has two constant level tanks 1 and 2, the first containing water, the second gasoline. Via a channel 3 on the path of which a nozzle 4 is placed, the tank 1 communicates with a chamber 5, into which a tube 6 open at its two ends and bevelled at its upper part.
For its part, by a channel 7, at the end of which is disposed a nozzle 8, similar to-Li qyicleur 4 used for water, the tank 2 corner - munique à both with a to petrol 9 well and with a 10 chamber in which - plugs a tube II. also open at its two ends and bevelled at its upper part, and concentric with the tube 6, within which it is placed.
Finally, concentrically with the two tubes 6 and 11 and to inside the latter is arranged a tube 12 ending to its lower part by a calibrated port 13 communicating with the outside air.
These three tubes 6, II and 12, which constitute the sprayer, leave an annular space between each of them and open out substantially at the same level in a channel 14 in communication, with a side, with the outside air through an orifice 27 fitted with a nozzle, on the other, with an annular chamber 15 surrounding the diffuser 16, the wall of which is pierced with holes 17 which open above a circular shoulder 24 and have a crescent section called the inlet channel 14 to the diametrically opposite part, in order to obtain, in the diffuser 16, a very homogeneous mixture. As this diffuser is arranged vertically, the lights are located just above the the constricted section. A key or butterfly 18 regulates the suction of the motor.
For the operation to have slowed down, it is foreseen, on the side of the gasoline only, that is to say in the pit 9 and ù, the upper part of this, a calibrated orifice or nozzle 19 which, by a channel 28, communicates with a pipe 21. One end of the latter ends to an air intake 20 that adjusts a screw to needle 25; its other end ends in two slots 22) </ B > and 223 located at different heights in the 29 suction pipe of the engine, so that the lower light 23 is blocked by the key 18 when the latter is completely closed.
To allow the evacuation of the air that would be trapped in wells such as 9 when installing sprinklers 8 and 19, at their upper part, the walls of the latter are pierced with holes 26 putting the central channel in communication with the annular chamber 30. After placing in place of the main jet, and, if #, of the idle jet, each well is closed a-Li by means of a threaded plug 31.
The operation of such a carburetor is as follows: At the beginning. the well 9 # the charfibre 10 and the annular space between the tubes Il el, 12 are filled with gasoline; the chamber 5 and the annular space between the tubes 6 and 11 are filled with water.
If, at this moment, the throttle 18 is in the closed position, the action of the motor does not produce any vacuum in the diffuser, but only by light 22) and channels 221 and 28 in I imitated gasoline!) which gives, with the air intake 20, a mixture very rich in gasoline. The start is therefore assured as well as good idling. As soon as the throttle 18 is opened slightly, it discovers the orifice 23 and increases thus the passage section of the rich mixture already delivered by the port 22, which facilitates the recoveries.
But, to as the throttle 18 is opened more, the vacuum in the diffuser being greater than that produced in the. pipe 21 and the fuel level being lower than the idle jet 19, the latter no longer delivers and the air intake 20 places the well 9 in communication with the outside air, thus allowing the level cl'ess * nce to drop in said well.
The depression produced inside the interior of the diffuser 16 is exerted through the holes 17 in the annular chamber 15, channel 14, then on tubes 6, 11 and 12, containing water, gasoline and air respectively. When passing from idle speed to normal temperature and when a very strong depression is produced in tube 13, to the gasoline that delivers the 8 nozzle intended for normal operation # e, comes in addition to a make-up provided by the reserve of gasoline which has accumulated in the well 9 during idling.
The quantity of fuel supplied by this reserve is determined by the quantity of air admitted through channel 20 and the adjustment screw 25.
This extra gasoline accumulated in well 9, when going from idle to full speed, facilitates restarting.
Gasoline and water, sucked simultaneously, emerge from their respective pipes into channel 14 where a first intimate emulsion occurs with the outside air entering, on the one hand, through the orifice 27 and, on the other hand, through tube 12. The mixture is then entrained, as a result of the suction from the motor, into the annular chamber there from which it comes out and penetrates to the interior of the diffuser through the holes 17 , being distributed in a substantially uniform manner over the entire perimeter of. this as a result -differences in the section of the holes 17. There, with the air entering through the diffuser, the new mixture feeds the engine.
The holes 17 have the particularity of opening out just above the shoulder 24, where there is a very strong de- pressure, so good suction is achieved.
In normal operation; the 9 well being emptied, the fuel flow is no longer a function, on the one hand, that of the quantity of fuel passing through the nozzle 8 and , on the other hand, from the de- pressure exerted by the engine, which is partially filled by the air inlet through channel 20 and nozzle 19, </ B > On the contrary, the water flow increases at the same time as the de- pressure up to a determined limit value.
This achieves satisfactory and very economical performance for all engine operating speeds.
The arrangement of the removable components allows the jets to be taken out without wasting fuel and even to stop the engine. It suffices, in fact, to unscrew the plug 31 to be able to remove the idle jet 19 and that of the normal hopscotch 8.
In the variant embodiment shown in FIG. 6, the orifices made in the diffuser are transverse slots 32; these slits are of constant individual section, their number varies according to the position they occupy; a single slit at the point where channel 14 opens, two f entes on the side of the diffuser and three on the side opposite to said gallery.
Fig. 7 shows an anal sprayer connected to the one described, in which there is a part 33, in the shape of a bell, closed to < / B> its upper part and inserted between the tubes 11 and 12 where the gasoline is located. The vertical walls of this bell are pierced with orifices 34, so that the fuel level is equalized externally. and inside to this bell.
On the other hand, the nozzle 35, placed in the horizontal air inlet gallery, has a position and a shape such that its point of depression is located at 36, < / B> above the sprayer.
Thus, all the air arriving through the orifice 13, instead of opening directly into the channel 14, is forced to emulsify the gasoline after having passed through the orifices 34, the fact that the, upper part of the. room 33 is closed.
Indeed, when the depression increases in channel 14, the fuel flow increases, which produces a lowering of the level inside the interior of the room 33. This Lowering has the effect of discovering a number of orifices 34 all the greater as this lowering is important, that is to say that the. depression in channel 14 is greater.
Thus, there there a. increase in the passage of air coming from tube 12 and arriving in the space between room 33 and tube 11, </ B > where the level tends to rise as the depression increases in channel 14, which means, ultimately, that the air leaving the orifices 34 emulsifies the gasoline and is found in this space before reaching in, channel 14.
On the other hand, the greater the depression in channel 14, the more the fuel level drops between tubes 11 and 12, and the greater the total section of 8 open orifices, thus braking the fuel flow proportional to to the value of the depression.
In the. embodiment shown in la fig. 8, the two tanks at constant level. 1 and -) each communicate with the sprayer by a pipe 3 and 7. A nozzle 8 is inserted on the latter , tau say that on the water pipe is mounted a special nozzle 37, of large section (fig. 11) inside which can moves, along its axis, a conical needle 38 mounted at the end of a needle holder 39 (fic 12) and sliding in a socket 40 (fig. 10)
screwed to the inside of a cap -11 (fig. 9), which allows the organ of com command 42) of said needle. The latter is, on the other hand, constantly urged downwards by a spring 43.
Thus the high position, shown in the drawing (fig. 8), gives, at 44, the maximum passage section corresponding to the highest water flow, while, if we acts on control 42 in the direction of arrow 45, spring 43 lowers needle C 38 which gradually restricts the passage section at 44 , until you cancel it completely.
In the form .; execution shown in fig. 13, 1.4 and 1.5, the tank 1 containing the water is removed and only that 2 of the gasoline remains.
The water comes directly from a reservoir through the orifice 46 made in., A threaded plug 47. Above this part, in a well 48 communicating at 49 with the nozzle 37 within which the needle c moves the re-whistle 38, is found, constantly urged upwards by a spring 50, a needle < B> 51 who,
under the action of a lowering finger 512, can come, compressing its spring, lean on its seat 53 and shut off the water inlet.
In a first embodiment (ffig '. 13), the needle 51 is housed inside a sliding sleeve 54 , biased upwards by a spring 55 bearing on the needle itself and being able to slide in a socket 56. In this case, the finger 52 < / B> Zn is wedged on the 57 shaft of the 18. butterfly
A the. fig. 13, we see the needle resting on its seat, the spring 50 being compressed. If the movement of the doict 52 continues in the direction of the, arrow 58, the needle remains stationary, while the sleeve is lowered by compressing the spring 55 .
In a second embodiment (fil-. 15), the finger 52 bears directly on the end of the needle and it is mounted freely on the shaft < B> 57 ' of the butterfly, their connection being established to using a spiral spring 59 housed, on the one hand, in a slot made in end of the shaft and, on the other hand, in one of the holes 60 made on the periphery of the hub 61.
In this case, when the needle is resting on its seat, Parbre 57 can continue to turn, the finger 52) remaining stationary.
In any of these two variants represented fi, -. 1.3, 14 and 15, you can set at as you wish the moment opening and closing of the needle either, by modifying the setting of the finger- 52) on the soli shaft 57 (fig. 13), or by changing the hole, the end of the res comes out in a spiral 59 (fig. 15).
The control -of the needle 38 (fig. 8, 12 and 13) could be done for example by means of a flexible cable or a rod, either by by hand, or by means of a joystick or even automatically: for example by means of an altimeter correction device, in the case of engines of supercharged aviation, or by means of a thermos tat, in the case of special engines whose temperature it is desired to maintain at a given value.
The sprayer tubes could all be beveled at their upper end.
A gasoline could be substituted for any easily flammable light fuel, and for water any combustible or non-combustible liquid.
