Mécanisme de commande à came.
Cam control mechanism. The present invention relates to a cam control mechanism. This mechanism is characterized in that the cam is formed of at least two adjacent plates of different profiles, one of which drives the other by means of a device which, when the direction of rotation is changed, n 'acts on the driven plate only after a certain time, so as to produce an offset of the two plates and consequently a change of the active periphery resulting from the. cam.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example and schematically, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevation; figs. 2 and 3 show a second elevation 90 from the first in two different operating positions; fig. 4 shows details.
On the shaft a is mounted the cam b formed by two adjacent plates b1 and b2 of different profiles. The plate b1 is integral with a sleeve c mounted in friction on the shaft a. The plate b2 is loose on the latter, it has a circular groove d in which can move a drive finger e fixed to the plate b1. On the free face of the plate b2 acts a friction f mounted on a fixed part, and which slows down the movement of the part b2. The action of this friction can moreover be replaced by the system's own friction.
In one of the embodiments, the plate b1 can present at a certain point of the periphery a depression b5; the plate b2 also has a similar depression drawn in b ,, and -disposed at the desired point of the periphery, in accordance with the explanation which follows.
Suppose that the cam b turns in the direction of the arrow f, (fig. 2), the finger e being at the left end of the groove d. The plate b, then drives the plate b2, the relative position of these two parts being such that the depression b5 of the plate b ,, is obliterated by part of the periphery of the plate b2. The cam has. then the profile shown in solid lines in fig. 2.
Suppose we change the direction of rotation of the. cam b, during the time that the finger e will take to travel, in the direction of arrow f2, the groove d, the plate b2 will be kept stationary by the. friction f. After which, the plate b2 will again be driven by the plate b1. The purpose of this temporary immobilization of the plate b2 is to produce an offset & the latter with respect to the plate b1. The effect of this shift is that the pressure de-pressure b6 comes opposite the depression b5: the roller g of the organ h on which the act acts. cam and which is in contact simultaneously with b1 and b2 will come. then lodge in these two depressions, which will immobilize it, at the same time as the cam b itself.
The cam could be used to actuate a member which, instead of being immobilized in one direction of rotation of the shaft, would simply receive a movement different from that which it had for the other direction. In this case, the plate b1 could be so lidaire of the shaft a without the intermediary of the friction c; in this case, the depressions b5 and b6 will no longer be necessary in principle. It is understood that the groove d could be made in the plate b1 and the finger e carried by the plate b2. This drive device could also be replaced by any other device allowing a certain amount of play between the two plates.
This mechanism can be used in all machines or devices where cams are used which must perform a different job depending on the direction of rotation of the control shaft, in particular in machine tools. In the event that the angular setting of the cam with respect to the shaft must be restored exactly after the immobilization of the cams during the empty return of the shaft a. the friction c may be replaced by an elastic claw clutch or by a positive locking device of one of the known systems.
In these two cases, the driving device connecting the cam b1 to the shaft a must be such that it drives the cams during the rotation of the shaft in a given direction and that this drive can stop when the direction of rotation has been reversed and the member controlled by the cams has come to be housed in the depression b5, b6, by traversing the rotation of the cams.
