Lubricant compressor. The subject of the invention is a compressor making it possible to deliver lubricant under high pressure into the various lubricators of a mechanism. This compressor is of the type which comprises a reservoir cylinder for the lubricant and a compressor cylinder, the piston of which successively produces first a vacuum ensuring its wise filling and then a compression causing the discharge of the lubricant to the outside.
The compressor according to the invention is characterized in that the reservoir cylinder and the compression cylinder are mounted one on top of the other so as to be able to perform a relative movement, the piston of the compression cylinder being integral with the reservoir cylinder. so as to cause successively, under the influence of the relative movements of the two cylinders, a suction and a discharge of the lubricant.
This arrangement has the advantage that the operation of the apparatus can be operated with one hand by acting on the casing of the reservoir cylinder to produce the movement of the latter in one direction while its return movement can be. caused by the action of a compressed spring during the previous stroke.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of a lubricant compressor according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section thereof, FIG. 2 a cross section along line 2-2, and FIG. 3 a similar section taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 1.
The compressor comprises a cylinder-reservoir 5 provided at one of its ends with a removable cover 6 and, at the other end, with a cap 7 which is open at its lower part and provided with a flange. 8 having a hexagonal opening. In this opening can slide the pressure cylinder 9, which, over part of its length, has an enlarged bore 10. A nut 11, fixed to the inner end of the cylinder 9, prevents the latter from coming out. the opening of the flange 8. A washer 12, made of felt or fiber, is interposed between the nut 11 and the flange 8.
Between the shoulder 14 of the cap 7 and the adjacent end of cylinder 5 is clamped a partition 13, which forms a stop for a pressure res out 15, which is also in contact with the shoulder 16 of the bore 10. The partition 13 is pierced in its middle with a hole 160 provided with a flange 17 forming a titi boss intended to immobilize the upper end of the spring 15.
In order to prevent leaks between the reservoir and the compression cylinder 9, a sleeve 20, in which a plate 19 and a packing washer 18 are arranged, is screwed onto the cap 7.
At its lower end, the cylinder 9 is provided. a connector 21 of the net bayon type having two opposite helical grooves 22, intended to receive the ends 23 of a pin forming part of the head 24 of the lubricator. It goes without saying that one could use a connection of a different type, for example a clip connection of the known ,, Técalémit ”type, connection which would then be turned over so as to come to rest on the grease. sister.
In the tubular part 21 of the connector is freely mounted a crimped leather 25, which is resiliently held in its extreme lower position by a spring 26, pressing on a washer 27 disposed in the bottom of this leather. The other end of the spring 26 maintains a ball valve 28 on its seat, closing the cylinder 9.
The piston rod 30 is riveted at 32 to the cover 6.
In the reservoir cylinder 5 is disposed a piston P sliding freely on the rod 30 and formed of two plates 36, 37 between which a felt disc 38 is gripped. In the lower plate 36 are stamped tabs 39, which pass through the felt disc 38, as well as appropriate openings. of the top plate 37 and are riveted at 40 to hold the two plates and the felt disc together. The piston rod 31 has a shoulder 41, the projection of which is such that it can pass freely through the opening 16, but that it abuts on the plate 36 when the cover is detached from the reservoir cylinder. 6, this arrangement allowing the piston P to be released for filling the apparatus.
The operation of said compressor is as follows: With the cylinder-reservoir â being full, the piston P is located near the cover 6. The operator brings the fitting 21 into the position indicated on the: fi # D- ,. 1, that is to say opposite the head of the lubricator 21 to be lubricated, then it covers the end of this head with this connector.
Read turning the cylinder 5 in the proper direction, the ends 23 of the. spindle of the head of the lubricator engage in the grooves 22 and cause the centering of the fitting on the lubricator until the head of the latter comes into contact with the crimped leather 25, with which it forms a tight seal.
The operator then exerts a thrust on the cover 6 of the compressor so as to advance the latter towards the fitting, the end of the piston rod 30 then perieth in the foraga 29 and the movement of the cylinder 5 and the cylinder. rod 30 continuing, causes the discharge of the lubricant contained in the cylinder 9, beyond the check valve 28 and through the crimp 25, into the head of the lubricator. When the thrust ceases on the cover 6, the res comes out 15 recalls the parts of the compressor in their respective positions shown in FIG. 1.
As soon as the return movement begins, the valve 28 closes and the continued return movement of the piston rod 30 creates a vacuum in the bore 29 of the cylinder (compression; when the end of the rod 30 exceeds the 'inner end of the borehole 29, this vacuum allows the atmospheric pressure which acts on the rear face of the piston P through the hole 34 of the cover, to drive the latter forward and, consequently, to fill the borehole 29 with a new lubricant charge, by reciprocating cylinder, any desired quantity of compressed lubricant can therefore be pumped into the lubricator 24.
