Abstract

MéTODOS PARA PURIFICAR UM áCIDO CARBOXìLICO A PARTIR DE UMA MISTURA, PARA RECUPERAR O áCIDO TEREFTáLICO PURIFICADO A PARTIR DO EFLUENTE DE UM PROCESSO DE PRODUçãO DE áCIDO TEREFTáLICO E PARA OXIDAR 4-CARBOXIBENZALDEìDO E/OU O 3-CARBOXIBENZALDEìDO. Um método e aparelho para purificar ácidos carboxílicos são divulgados. Uma mistura contendo ácido carboxílico bruto é contatada com um solvente de cristalização seletivo para formar uma pasta fluida de um complexo de sal do ácido carboxílico e do solvente de cristalização seletivo. O complexo de sal é recuperado e opcionalmente processado para recuperar o ácido carboxílico livre. O método e o aparelho da invenção são particularmente adequados para purificar ácidos dicarboxílicos aromáticos tais como o ácido tereflálico. A presente invenção também reduz a contaminação por isómeros de carboxibenzaldeído em ácidos ftálicos brutos oxidando-se o carboxibenzaldeído ao ácido ftálico correspondente.
