Abstract

"FORNECIMENTO DE UM FáRMACO ATIVO PARA A PARTE POSTERIOR DO OLHO ATRAVéS DO FORNECIMENTO SUBCONJUNTIVAL OU PERIOCULAR DE UM PRó-FáRMACO". A presente invenção refere-se a um método de fornecimento sustentado de um fármaco ativo para uma parte posterior de um olho de um mamífero para tratar ou evitar uma doença ou condição afetando o referido mamífero, no qual a referida doença ou condição pode ser tratada ou evitada por ação do respectivo fármaco ativo sobre a referida parte posterior do olho, compreendendo a administração de uma quantidade eficaz de um éster ou pró-fármaco do fármaco ativo subconjuntivamente ou periocularmente. De preferência, o fármaco ativo é mais do que cerca de 10 vezes mais ativo do que o pró-fármaco. Outros aspectos desta invenção lidam com o tratamento de certas doenças pelo fornecimento periocular ou subconjuntival de um éster pró-fármaco, e certos produtos farmacêuticos contendo éster pró-fármaco para administração periocular ou subconjuntival.
