Abstract
''MéTODO DE PRODUçãO DE FERRO POR OPERAçãO DE UM FORNO DE CADINHO GIRATóRIO E UM APARELHO DE FORNO MELHORADO'' A presente invenção se trata de um aparelho e um método para redução direta de óxido de ferro utilizando um forno de cadinho giratório para formar botões metálicos de ferro contendo carbono de alta pureza. A capa de cadinho pode ser uma capa de cadinho refratária ou vítrea de compostos de óxido de ferro, carbono, e sílica. Adicionalmente, materiais de revestimento podem ser introduzidos sobre a capa de cadinho refratária ou vítrea antes de os materiais de minério de óxido de ferro e carbono serem adicionados, sendo que os materiais de revestimento impedem o ataque do ferro fundido sobre a capa de cadinho. Os materiais de revestimento podem incluir compostos de carbono, óxido de ferro, óxido de silício, óxido de magnésio, e/ou óxido de alumínio. Os materiais de revestimento podem ser colocados na forma sólida ou de pasta sobre a capa de cadinho e sendo aquecidos para prover uma camada protetiva sobre a qual os materiais de minério de óxido de ferro e carbono são colocados. O óxido de ferro é reduzido e forma glóbulos fundidos de ferro e carbono residual de alta pureza, que permanecem separados da capa de cadinho. Um aparelho melhorado inclui uma placa de resfriamento colocada muito próxima à capa de cadinho refratária ou vítrea, resfriado os glóbulos fundidos para formar botões metálicos de ferro que são removidos a partir da capa de cadinho. As melhorias devidas ao aparelho e ao método de produção da presente invenção provêem botões sólidos de ferro e carbono de alta pureza, que são separados dos particulados de escória e descarregados, sem ocorrer perdas significativas de produtos de ferro, em uma superfície interna do forno.
