Abstract

"PROCESSO E SISTEMA PARA DETECTAR UM MAU FUNCIONAMENTO DO MOTOR EM UM MOTOR DE COMBUSTãO INTERNA, E, MEIO DE ARMAZENAMENTO LEGìVEL POR COMPUTADOR" Um novo sistema de processo para detectar um maus funcionamentos do motor com base na pressão do cárter (150) inclui a determinação de um valor de referência, indicativo de condições correntes de operação de motor (152) e uso do valor de referência para determinar um limite de pressão do cárter (160), o qual varia como uma função do valor de referência. A pressão detectada do cárter é comparada com o limite (162) para determinar quando existe uma condição de falha. O valor de referência é, preferentemente, uma função da velocidade do motor (154) e do torque de motor requisitado (156), e inclui um termo de segunda ordem, multiplicado por uma constante calibrável, a qual controla a sensitividade da determinação de falha. A sensitividade pode ser ajustada para prover falhas igualmente detectáveis através de todas velocidades e cargas do motor, para ser mais sensitiva a falhas que ocorrem a velocidades mais elevadas do motor, o para ser mais sensitiva a falhas que ocorrem a cargas mais elevadas do motor. O sistema e processo controlam o motor, com base na determinação de uma falha de motor. O controle subseq³ente pode incluir o alerta do operador do veículo, redução do toque de motor disponível (168|), paralisação do motor (170) e/ou registro de uma falha (174) para o serviço ou manutenção subseq³ente. A detecção de falha prematura provê mais tempo para que o operador do veículo e/ou o controlador de motor tome as ações de remediação para impedir dano mais sério ao motor.
