Abstract
"PROCESSO PARA CONTROLAR A EMISSãO DE MATERIAIS NOCIVOS NOS GASES DE EXAUSTãO DE UM MOTOR DE COMBUSTãO INTERNA E SISTEMA PURIFICADOR". Sistema purificador e método para controlar emissões de gases de exaustão de motores de combustão interna nas partidas a frio e a quente, assim como durante operação normal, são descritos. Um método para controlar emissões de gases durante operação sob baixa carga de um motor diesel alimentado com uma mistura diesel/metano é também, provido. Gases de exaustão são contatados com um material sólido permeável a gás (5) contendo um adsorvente (11) e um catalisador (10) capaz de converter os componentes nocivos em materiais inócuos. O fluxo dos gases através do material sólido permeável a gás é revertido em uma série de ciclos contínuos para trazer ou manter o catalisador em uma faixa de temperatura adequada para controlar os componentes nocivos, abaixo da qual os materiais nocivos são adsorvidos pelo adsorvente.
